@@catchercoach4918 I had a total rupture and just chose the nonsurgical route. I am a recreational soccer player. I hope I made the right choice.

This is a review of one study and doesn't quite help much with anything. Only real takeaway is the fact that the 1 year mark is indicative of how close you'll get back to normal overall. Unfortunately, the study only contains 100 people.

The push off strength study was done in 2010 ? Is there a reason why surgery would produce a stronger tendon than conservative rehab ? Could it be due more to how the tendon is rehabilitated rather than the actual operation ? I’m taking a risk playing American football and going the non operative route but I’m 25, only has a 3mm gap and could still walk on it for a week before I got it treated

Yooo I'm in a similar situation, 24, play running back and went non-operative. I see you said yours went well, I'm assuming you were pretty consistent with the rehab?

Now 2022 My surgeon told. Surgical:+- 3% and non-surgical:4% re rupture rates. Provided they both have early weight bearing and similar rehab protocol. So you need to be in a cast for 3-5 days then in a walker boot for 7 weeks then start walking in shoes.
