- Sneaker Culture Around the World: A Global Perspective
When traveling, you often stumble on different sneaker trends than is hyped in your own country. The style embraced by the bigger public might even differ per region and definitely differs per subculture. In this video we travel around the world and define the sneaker culture in some of the most prominent sneaker countries.
Thank you for being part of our road to 10k subs!

@loapsneakers 🙏 thank you for the upload
Nice video. Really enjoyed it and learned a lot of sneaker information. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks 🙏🏼! Really appreciate it!
Can you please do the same video , but on places like Africa, Puerto Rico, Canada, and other small places. That would be very interesting.
Like this so he can consider it. 🎉
Definitely 👍🏼. If I see that this subject is picked up by the community, we are definitely in to make a part 2 or more of this series.
Any other countries that you would like to see?
You forgot to say how Onitsuka Tiger is pretty big, Phil Knight was its distributor in the US before he started to build Nike. In Asia (i mean the whole Asia not only Japan and Korea), Mexico 66 is a staple of lifestyle sneakers opposed to Jordan 1.
Yeah I could have made this video so much longer I know. Sometimes you need to “kill your darlings” but its definitely a story that needs to be told.
Thanks for the feedback
Bro your accent is fire ❤😎💯
Thanks bro 👊🏼
Nice video right here✌
Thanks bro :D I like this one too
Wow ❗ fun video 🔥⚡💯😎👍
Thanks man 🙏🏼
I can def say Paris, Rome, Barcelona, and Morocco. I’ve never seen so many Dunks and Jordans. They go the US beat.
Also in Morocco? Thats a good one to analyse, what I know about Morocco is that there are a lot of reps there and that the locals import legit Nikes from the outlet stores.
True.. def in the souks
Excellent Vlog. The UK Northwest trainers culture started in the early 70s with British Brand Dunlop and in the late 70s local football or “soccer” teams Liverpool and Man Utd started playing in Europe and they would bring back Adidas or Puma trainers and tracksuits Ellesse, Sergio Tacchini and Lacoste.
In the 90s Airmax 1s took over and now in the Northwest it is Airmax 95s or 110s.
The reason that idiot Gallagher is wearing the adidas is someone is paying him.
If you want watch the Documentary by a proper British band member Peter Hooton called The Casuals. It’s all about the UK northwest and how it influenced the whole of the UK trainers or “sneakers” ideology in the UK.
Keep up the good work 👍👍
Thanks man, this information gives the video some extra body and explanation! Yeah Gallagher is definitely endorsed by Adidas. Will look into the video that you suggested!
So basically everyone loves the air max 1 lol
Lol, nah not everyone bit in many countries its a big thing. The fun thing is the distance between the countries. Its not necessarily a regional thing. Netherlands, Russia and Japan are not really connected in fashion trends or whatsoever.
What style and colors use in Jordan’s in Japan
In Japan they love vintage sneakers but what also is popular are the jordan 1 lows
amazing video but i just want to say Dizzee Rascal had a pair of Airmax BW not airmax 90 on the cover of Boy in the Corner
I know, I noticed the same thing after recording the script and editing through video. I hoped no one would notice it but on the other hand I am glad that the community is as deep into sneaker culture as we are!
@@loapsneakers is a badass video and I learned a lot I bet a lot of research hours went into it I only knew as it's my favourite shoe ever and I remember hearing it on the 30th anniversary documentary Nike made
Thanks man! Yeah it was a lot of research but also very interesting to conduct! Yeah BW definitely underrated, 2 years ago I bought the Air Max BW Rotterdam, its where we are from so it was an automatic cop
@@loapsneakers I only got the Persian blue I tried for the others but no luck have you seen the Beijing that is my grail
@@williambrown8203 Yes I know it's from the same city pack as the Rotterdams. It is the "mocha" type colorway if I am right. It is a very nice iteration.
South Africa has a strong sneaker culture too!....but of course, we're in Africa..😏
I love to learn about it, teach me! What is going on South Africa
Maaan, what about Italy? Kappa, Fila, Lotto, Diadora, Ellesse..
Haha loll I will write this down. Definitely make a sequel on this one.
No New Balance sneakers?
Many people wear New Balance but it hasnt been crucial part of “sneaker culture” in these countries
Keep it on thats all the hottest treasures big budget u gettia gambage on people.
Yes hard spaghetti will cold and fry sneaky with animals 😁. Thanks man 🙏🏼
Wear*
Not where.
Thanks for your comment but its on purpose
Wear*
It’s wordplay, on purpose. Still thanks for the heads up.
You clearly know nothing about UK sneaker culture 😂😂 up in the north west we prefer airmax 95s and 90s, Adidas spezials are a massive thing on the football terraces not on the estates
Rectifications are always welcome. You are basically saying that I just missed one small detail. I dont worry about it too much, but thanks! 🙏🏼
Nike took a risk with Jordan because the NBA was exclusive to black people back then and your showing the Celtics 🙄😒🙇♂️🤦♂️
Unfortunately times were different in the mid 80’s. As the video also said it seems as a foregone conclusion nowadays. Im not sure if the term “inclusivity” was even invented around that time 😭. And yes, its scandalous that these things were seen as a risk in that era.
@loapsneakers it's unfortunate that you think that way too. You probably wasn't even born until '97
I dont think it was, it was.. and I am from the 80s.
brazil had the worst taste. sorry
They kinky 😂
