Kubo's amazing speed and dribbling guile will serve Ange's foot forward style very well. He may be a tad lightweight for the Prem's physical game but that does not prevent him from creating utter chaos when he's wriggling his way through opponents in the final third of the pitch. His outstanding skills at close quarters is exactly what Spurs have been lacking.

Personally, Kangin Lee is a much better and stronger player than Kubo that can play both wings, 10, and even false 9 with the quality to both dribble and pass through tight spaces. Of course he is already at PSG so probably out of Spurs price range now. Rather have Eze than Kubo as well.

Barnaby, I'm afraid to say it but this narrative that Ange "took a lot of Japanese talent to Scotland, and they did really well" is not completely accurate.
As Celtic manager, Ange signed the following players from Japan.
    Kyogo Furuhashi
    Daizen Maeda
    Reo Hatate
    Yosuke Ideguchi
    Tomoki Iwata
    Yuki Kobayashi
Of the six players, only Kyogo, Daizen and Reo were a success.
The other three were a failure.
    That's a 50% success rate.
If you then add the three Korean players that Ange signed:
    Oh Hyeon-gyu
    Kwon Hyeok-kyu
    Yang Hyun-Jun
    All three were a failure.
Taking that into account, of the nine players that Ange signed from the Japanese/Korean market,
only three of them were good.
    That's a paltry 33% success rate.
So, when I hear it said that Ange has "an eye for talent" when it comes to the Asian market, the evidence doesn't back it up.
Takefusa Kubo may be a brilliant signing, but I would have severe reservations given Ange's track record.
Like Bryan Gil, I think Kubo will struggle with the physicality of the EPL.

    • @seanlynch1185

      33% success rate????
What about all the other successful signings he made - Johnson, Hart, Mooy, Jota,
CCV, O'Riley and on and on.
And the three successful Japanese players you name became bona fide stars = 9/10 players.
Nearly all of the Asian players you mentioned as not being successful came in as depth, when the team was already smoking hot.

Oh has scored 11 in 30-odd games and Yang has played 24 in a title winning side. Not sure I agree with your definition of failure. Ideguchi and some of the others you mentioned were brought in for next to nothing to plug gaps in the squad. All internationals in a title winning side under Ange and/or a new manager. Seems pretty successful to me.
