    I've watched and read a ton of reviews on these while waiting for mine to arrive, and I think that your review was the most detailed that I've come across. Just thought that I would add that in a few reviews the reviewers state that sony didn't encounter any problems with water damage in a gym enviroment while doing QA testing. I'm not really sure what to make of this statement as if true why wouldn't they obtain an IP rating? additionally, as these are fairly new earbuds there isn't anything conclusive on forums in regards to gym use. As I'm going to be using mine exclusively at the gym, I'll come back and update if I have any issues.

    • @insidetechltd
      @insidetechltd  Před 5 lety +5

      Thank you, that's nice to hear! Yes I would tread carefully on that subject. It is likely that they would survive a little bit of water exposure say, for example, at the gym (as most non-water resistant earphones would). But without any guarantees from Sony, they probably won't be covered under the warranty. You might be able to spend years using them at the gym everyday and never encounter a problem, but you could also break them on day 1 too.
      Thanks for taking one for the team though! Let us know how you get on!

      I’ve been using them in the Gym and the best thing about it is that it actually cuts off the outside noise very effectively with the ANC, the problem is that it’s missing something to hold them in your ear and they can easily fall off. I’ve tried several of the included tips and none work as I wanted. They do sound fantastic but I might end up returning them because they don’t work very well for what I use them.

    Really good review easy to understand not too long and covered all the important details and features. I don't agree that water resistance is such a major issue. I do wear these at the gym and unless you are sweating profusely it is no big deal. I also wear them bike riding and they stay in unlike other products I have used. Here in Australia you have to wear a helmet when cycling so over the ear headphones are not an option. I am happy with them. They are still pricey here at $299 but compared to cheaper products the old adage of you get what you pay for is apt here. Thanks again for your review!

  • @JDziewaltowski
    @JDziewaltowski Před 3 lety +1

    I received these as a packaged deal when I bought the Xperia 1 ii phone. I was originally going to sell them to recoup $200 or so dollars, as I'd never really needed earphones... I am SO glad my curiosity, and reviews like this had me open the box and try them for myself!
    I use them at work mostly, and am highly impressed with the noise canceling. I work with a Laser Engraving machine and liquid cooler directly behind me, as well as in areas where people use power tools.
    The ANC is amazing at blocking out nearly all of the noise. I have noticed that it's much better with music or audiobooks playing. They're not really "earplug" level of noise canceling unless you have just enough music to cover what ANC can't block.
    My favorite thing (and this isn't a feature really) is that my Co Workers tend to leave me alone when I have these in my ears. The size and color (I have the black version) means they notice and walk away; and when they don't, I can't hear them anyway! 😂
    Also, I've noticed that I don't need to pay for a TIDAL subscription, because the DSEE HX upscaling turns CZcams Music into HiFi level sound. It's truly impressive.
    In all, I adore the little buds, and am glad I gave them a chance instead of selling them!

    OK had these a week now and have to say I am loving them! I could never find headphones that were loud enough and on my Iphone they're still not but I noticed a 20% increase in volume using my Ipod. In fact Green Day digitally remastered almost blew my head off and it was the first time I have ever had to lower the volume. Still trying on different bud sizes for my left ear, not sure why but for some reason the left bud slips out. Have ridden my bike, done a workout in them and just sat around and I cannot complain at all. The short beep sound when you change from sitting down to walking etc is a tad annoying but it's just a minor thing. Amazing technology and I would highly recommend these if you appreciate your music and want quality.

    • @sergiosalazar7091
      @sergiosalazar7091 Před 5 lety

      The volume is high enough for me. In my opinion the passive and active noise canceling works good enough so you don’t need to put the volume very high. The sound is clear, with good bass. Maybe not so many “bass power” as the Beats Pro, but those are designed specially for hip-hop and I prefer jazz and soul. The equalizer works good too so you could choose between the pre-configurations, or adjust the parameters and save you own two “personal settings”. That helps to get richer bass if you want, according the music you are listening.

      Hi again,
      After thorough investigation it appears that PC support is very "limited" at the moment. It is not all devices, but most, which are not compatible (as opposed to being a Windows 10 issue). Sony have confirmed this themselves too but I have seen a few posts with screenshots from Sony representatives claiming that a software patch will address and fix this scheduled for release "end of August". I can't confirm this myself, unfortunately so I would recommend that all PC users be wary for now. My apologies for not making this clear in the review itself beforehand!

    Something about the charging case that you forgot to mention was that it can be used as a phone stand. Just put the case on it’s back, open the lid, and put your phone in the open space. That curved lip on the lid should keep your phone from sliding, which means I think that was an intentional design

    I have all the different BOSE wireless and noise cancelling ear/headphones. Every time I buy Bose I have felt guilty for not trying the Sony WH-1000XM3 (because the reviews has been so good on CZcams). So this time I bought the Sony WF-1000XM3. I used it every day while travelling and also in office while working, my experience has been very bad. While travelling on London underground or when I walk I loose connection. And this cannot be compared to any of the Bose earphones. So sadly before 14 days I have returned this. Having said that I did find the App a lot better than the Bose. I hope the Sony on-ear (WH-1000XM3) is as good as it is claimed. Need to try that one day.

    Why is aptX so important for you? It features 354kbit/s at 16bit/48kHz. SBC features 345kbit/s at 16bit/48kHz. This is a difference of 9kbit/s, equal to around 2.5%. And LDAC (990kbit/s, 24bit/96kHz) would have used way to mouch energy for a battery this small.
    Nevertheless great detailed review!

    • @insidetechltd
      @insidetechltd  Před 5 lety

      I personally prefer it since it’s more efficient. It transfers fewer bits per sample and therefore transmits smaller files sizes. This is more battery-conserving for your device, which most people don’t really think about and there is a slightly lower latency too (even on the standard form of aptX). The encoding method is also superior in generating a better signal:noise ratio for improved sound quality, although admittedly this is quite subtle.
      As for LDAC, I agree that the benefits of it aren’t best exploited in earbuds like this - and as I said in the video, I didn’t mind missing this so much. I simply mentioned it to make it clear for viewers, since this is Sony’s own technology, it would be fair to assume that it was included here.
      That’s just my opinion on the codecs though!

    Just bought these and they look just as nice as in your cinematic shots. I really didn't think it was gonna look *that* good but it does. If they're deep enough in your ear you will hear barely a thing with NC on. I did have problems with stutter in the city but after switching the connection to "prioritize connection over sound quality" it was fine. That was a bit odd bc the WH-1000XM2 headphones did not have that problem but on the plus side I personally didn't notice a difference in sound quality but I stream music and don't listen to high res files.

    I think this was a very fair evaluation of these - one of the few that touched on hot swappable Bluetooth connection, and one of the best voice call captured audio. I’d like to see a coffee shop background captured recording with the quiet included recording. Why are Apple AirPods the absolute best at call quality ? Can’t other companies do what they have done ? This is the biggest downfall of all alternative earbuds for me personally.

    The one great thing about AirPods is that you can sing along with your music without having that plug pressure head sensation! That is why I just buy the cheap Chinese earbuds for working out and use AirPods for phone calls and commuting where absolute isolation is unnecessary! I am surprised to hear that you think the Sony’s beat out the latest Momentum wireless on Audio performance? I know the Sennheiser app is crap! You got to hand it to Sony for their most excellent feature set on their flag ship products! One more thing, I wonder if these touch controls will suffer the same touch disease as the M3 headphones do in cold weather? Thanks for a detailed, comprehensive review! Cheers… Keith

    • @insidetechltd
      @insidetechltd  Před 5 lety +1

      Very true! I can understand why people like AirPods for this reason, even if you don't get the same sort of isolation. Yes i'll admit, the audio quality was very close with Sennheiser - these were definitely one of my previous favourites for audio. As I said to another commenter, I just think the combination of the clarity, the DSEE HX, ANC and the equaliser gives Sony an edge.
      Yes that's a good point, i'll have to try them out this winter! I know some people complained about the M3s for this, but from my experience I think that the headphones still operated as normal under the specified conditions. The sorts of temperatures where people experienced issues were often outside of Sony's stated operating range. Of course I'm not saying that 'that makes it OK', (we want our expensive earphones be useful all year round) and this won't always be the case for everyone - I just think we also need to have realistic expectations when using a touchpad in extreme weathers. Did you personally encounter this issue yourself, or just know about it?

    Excellent review! I appreciate your objectivity. It would be really easy to go overboard just by the audio quality alone. My only hesitation is the size. They seem big in your ears. Bigger and/or heavier buds tend to fall out or move out of place in my ears. How do you like their size? Looks wise? Falling out or moving out of place?

    • @insidetechltd
      @insidetechltd  Před 5 lety

      The earbuds are bigger than most on the market, but they don't feel bulky in your ears. This is going to depend on how well they fit your ears, but for me they were very secure and they're light enough that they didn't feel like falling out at any point (didn't even move when walking, going up/down stairs etc). Looks-wise, you definitely notice them in your ears, but the profile still sits fairly flat against your ear.
      Unless they don't fit securely in your ears, I don't think you'll have a problem, but everyone's ears are different. There's a good choice of eartips though so hopefully you'll find a good fit!

What's the point of long battery life when you can't wear them for long as they hurt your ears? So i purchased Sennheiser Moment True Wireless, they easily offer far better music quality (for the true audiophile) even though they don't have as good noise cancelation, they are louder and splash proof, the equaliser is great too, importantly that don't look and feel bulky in your ears, they feel and look great in your ears. I've been binge watching thousands of reviews and videos and going on reddit and from my research the only two that are worth considering are these sony's or the sennheiser momentum's. Both have big pro's and cons. So it's hard recommending one over the other. Sony just announced their new lineup of their truly wireless earbuds and they come in various colors and probably not sure but probably sweat and water resistance to some degree but be aware as i heard they are going to be $350 which is pretty much a no for me. If you don't care about sound quality then head on over to amazon and get you a soundpeats or jlabs for $30-50 and hope those last longer than a year. The only other ones i am about to pull the trigger on are these aftershockz aeropex bone conduction headphones. Actually fuck it i'm going to just buy those. They aren't for everyone but if you ride bicycles, jog or need to be aware of your sorroundings while listening to music then bone conduction are perfect. Me i drive for uber and i ride electric skateboards so i need to listen to passengers and traffic at all times while i am in transit so they work for me. Oh and people wear them all day because they don't go in your ear. Studies show you can learn a language under a year with bone conduction as well so theres a lot of great stuff on the tech, Deaf people can listen to music too because it doesnt pass sound through your ears but it goes through your bones!

      If you really care about audio quality, there is a big difference between the Sony earbuds and Galaxy Buds. Obviously the Galaxy Buds have better compatibility with your Samsung phone, so you’ll have some exclusive features - they’re also lighter and more comfortable. But the WF-1000XM3 are still comfortable themselves and have much better audio quality (and a lot of great extra features too).
      If you’re not an audiophile, the price difference probably isn’t worth it - it’s almost £100 difference. But if you’re a stickler for audio, it’s worth it

      I think at first, it seems like a no brainer to get the WF-1000XM3. Higher audio quality, ANC, all of the extra features in the Sony headphone connect app etc. But if you're concerned about the earbuds falling out during your commute, then obviously the Powerbeats Pro have the ear hook to guarantee stability - you definitely won't have those fall out. I personally got a really secure fit with the M3s, they didn't even feel as though they were slipping whilst walking about - everyone's ears are different but i'd expect you not to have issues here either.
      If you are an Apple user and want the convenience of instant switching between many devices, the Powerbeats Pro might be worth a look. But since you don't need them for sports, the M3s would be the better choice in pretty much all other areas!

    Great review, and thank you for the timestamps. I can get these earbuds for 180 euro's with the black friday deal, how would you compare these earphones to the sennheiser momentums, are the momentums worth the 100 euro's over the Sony WF-1000XM3s ?

      Where did you see the 180€ deal?

      I've answered this question a few times before and in short: no they aren't. Even if they were the same price as Sony, I think Sony's M3s offer better value for money. Also, that deal is great, go for it!

    I've had them for two weeks now and going to the gym or for a run with them works fine.

      Hi glad I read someone who uses them in the gym. I'm a bit worried that they might stop working if sweat comes in. So it's safe to say that we can use these for some workouts right?

      @@ghukghukghuk Ye they're good for the workouts, I've had no problems with them so far

      I'd be careful doing this since I can't imagine Sony's warranty extends to this sort of damage!

    All these bells and whistles are fine but they do use up your batteries very quickly especially the right hand one. I really wanted to like these headphones but in the end I sold them for something else

    An you Wirelessly charge the earbuds in the case or do you need to plug it in to charge them ?

    • @insidetechltd

      The earbuds charge wirelessly in the case, yes. But the case is not wireless-charge compatible. You need to charge the case with a USB-C cable

    One of the features highlighted is if one of the earbuds is removed temporarily from the ear, it stops or pauses the music all together which is quite annoying for those individuals who love to listen to their own vocals through the earbud-free ear as they sing along to the music streamed via one earbud or is it possible to disable this feature through the handset?
