Lorain Port Authority looks to purchase Midway Mall in Elyria

  • The revitalization of Elyria’s long-declining Midway Mall is being re-energized by the prospect of new ownership. Thursday, the Lorain County Port Authority voted to accept a $13.9 million loan from the county commission to buy the property.

    Doesn't China own the port authority like they do in California? 🤔 I'm not sure.

    Midway Mall could be use for chip manufacturing from Silicon Valley since California has power, water, environment regs, and high cost of living.

    Other malls still they've like Fashion Valley and Mission Valley Malls in San Diego.
    Midway Mall's issues are the surrounding strip malls it allowed to pop up around it with promises of cheaper rents and better control of opening hours. Reaganomics took the Mall's income when shipping and steel was wrecked by foreign competition.
    Amazon took what remained...
    When I worked at Camelot Music in the 80s, everyone opened and closed at the same time with the exception of the cinema.

    Turn it into a prison. Lorain & Elyria has more criminals, then it would hold.

      Somewhat accurate...Most of Lorainites stayed away from Elyria....too many blacks. Elyria folks avoided Lorain due to so many "ricans"....
