Dr. Robert Hogan, founder and president of Hogan Assessment Systems, discusses the foundations of the science behind assessing the dark side of personality.
So much for social theory. Not understanding that all the thoughts of the variety of consciousnesses are a process of thinking. He is black and white. without a moderate amount of introspection, observing the thought process, then understanding that the external world is "as it is," and it is what we think about it that makes us happy or unhappy, then there is no understanding that we can rise beyond the process that holds us back. Freud was right that the thinking brain can be understood by examining and analyzing the processes that go into creating world and self view. But he was wrong in identifying only specific sources from which the causes and conditions of life are finite. (mother, sex, etc.) I would have to hear and read more of what Hogan says about this to buy into it. His point of view -in this vid- is that "its all about the dark side of the force." Indeed, it is not. I would like to hear what he thinks about the insightful, more observant and interactive portion of view and behavior.
"Positive psychology is just wrong." Ahem...? I'd love to see any data to support that assertion!(Seligman would too, I'm sure.) I love Hogan... but his hyperbolic and self-righteous dichotomous/back-or-white assertions are hard to stomach -- especially for raving fans of empiricism and science in general.
“ too much dark side will get you fired, too little will get you ignored ... Some dark sides essential for success”

I think it's better phrased as " strength based coaching is not that effective " lol
