We experience three types of love in our lifetime, and these 3 loves happen for a reason. When we are hopelessly in love with someone, it becomes unbearable even to think that this won’t last forever. But we do get heartbroken and we also break others’ hearts; sometimes knowingly and other times we just can’t help it. Nevertheless, no matter how much pointless our existence seems to be after a breakup, with time, we move on with our lives, and again we find love. Some luck out in this department and find the love of their life sooner than the rest of us, while others have to wait for a long time to get the one who is for the keeps. But before meeting “the one”, we might have to turn quite a few pages of unfinished stories; stories of dashed hopes and unfulfilled dreams. After all, how many times can you fall in love?

Hahaha I found my third love when I actually told myself I’m better off alone. LoL never expected it, we met on the most unexpected place on earth. Everything is happening fast but I can’t explain it everything just seems to fell into it’s right place.

Oh My Word. So true for me. I had 3 loves and the 3rd was the love of my life and with him, I forgot all the others. It should have been a train wreck. We were both in our 50's. He had never been married. I met him literally days after my divorce was finalized. My ex was emotionally and verbally abusive and he cheated on me. When I met my 2nd husband we just clicked and it was so easy to just be ourselves. 9 months later we were married and it just got better. Unfortunately, his cancer which was in remission came back. He died 4 days before our 3rd anniversary. Yes, it was horrific, yes 6 years later I still feel the emptiness and I still walk around my place and tell him I love him. However, I am so grateful that I was able to experience true love. We had a completely, relentlessly, over the edge, no going back, blissful joy type of love. A lot of ppl never get that. Will I marry again? idk. I do know I will always miss him, that my heart and soul will be forever scarred, and I will never stop loving him.

Its funny how much loving someone impacts your life...I watched Cancer take my best friends wife life. It changed him into someone I no longer recognize. While he claims to be past it and is engaged to someone new 5 years later, I see the scars. As for me, I love many people, but none of them have met the standard of being the love of my life...Just havent gotten there yet... at 68 I fear it will never happen. But I am still hopeful.

This hit me really hard. Now I realize that my ex-wife was my 2nd love and the wrong person all along ("know" her for 30+ years). I found her cheating again and decided to move on with my life alone, focusing only on my children. Well, I met my now GF weeks later after my last heartbreak with my now ex-wife. We just clicked, started as friends, but it was evident for both in a short time that we had feelings for each other. Never imagined love like this existed, and certainly I was not expecting to find it at this time of my life. What is funny is that she had exactly the same thoughts when we met (spending the rest of her life alone with the children). We still can't believe how we feel in love when we less expected it. It just feels right and we are planning to be together for the rest of our lives. We helped each other on healing from our last relationship. I found my third one 3 months ago. My workplace put me in a different building due to COVID and that’s how we got to know each other. This is a good description of our life journey in love. Innocent and naive first love, I met my first love when I was 16 we got married and were together for 22 years, but grew apart. My tough second love was in my 30s, it was intense but very irrational and emotional! he hurt me and cheated on me, but I learned a lot about myself worth. And now in my 40s I have found my third love, it is totally different! It’s comforting, supportive, he’s my best friend and my biggest fan, we pick each other up when we’re down and have each other’s back. Most of all He feels like home!

We went 20+ years apart, but never over the other or letting go. After realizing how abusive my marriage was and realizing I was running from true love and putting up with controlling love; I called to apologize for ghosting him 33 years prior ….it was like a spell breaking! It is funny how people love to categorize and label all parts of their life and their personality. And then there are always a handful of us that are curious about it, but we just don’t see any need to use these labels.
The man that I met 7 years ago is the same man that made me feel all the stages of love and I pray that he will still be the man that make me feel like home forever.

No one seems to understand this:
1 is the superficial "fake" one that appears right to the outside world. (this one can be repeated for a lifetime)
2 is a learning through hurt and can often be repeated many times (same situation different faces) the belief on some level that love hurts, that you need to fight or go through "shit" and that it is normal or that it is not nornal not to have conflict in love. Obviously this is untrue.
3 Not everyone makes it to number 3. This is closer to the truth which is that love is unconditional, true love is genuine and authentic and you love and are loved for you for who you are for being you. Not for being how others want you to be. The main characteristic about unconditional love that most people don't understand is that it is unconditional.
Can you see how clueless most people truly are when it comes to love?
No one was ever taught love in school, we live in a world where most people are "love infants" now that you know this BE SELECTIVE be very very selective. You have been warned.

I don't think I've ever had the first love as described, since I wasn't in a relationship until 23, (although I had my first crush in elementary school) and I never cared much as to how others perceived me. I did my own thing. But if my first was my first, then I feel as if my last had elements of all. My ex was a lot younger than I, and so reminded me of my first, and it felt very fated, like magic in meeting her. But I love her even though we are a bit different, and had conflict that led to a breakup. I want to do anything to make it work. I do think that love is worth a struggle sometimes. But also, I love her unconditionally, even when we cannot agree. Im fairly certain that she sees this as #1 tho, as she was too idealistic.

I envy you. I have wasted my years since 2015 for 3 long term relationships that didn't even work out, but instead damaged who I was and I never took the time to know myself. As i watched this video, i was amazed how incredibly accurate it is. I have had several loves in my life, unfortunately, some didn't even know. Some knew but didn't return the feeling. Last year, i just accepted that i would never find someone to love me as i loved them, and i would leave this World alone and unthought of nor missed. 40 years i had hoped for love, with nothing but heartache. I had come to realize with each successive relationship that the saying, "You never love anyone quite the same as you do your first love" was so right.. until last year. Last year, i met someone. Someone whom i almost didn't meet at all. I was online, bored out of my mind, and decided to go to bed. Then i saw her picture thru social media and i was thinking to myself, 'Oh.. she probably doesn't even really look so beautiful' (too often the pictures are doctored up to impress but belie the truth). I was taken aback when seeing her... Seeing that she actually looked better than her photo (and i thought she looked perfect in the photo). We talked for 4 1/2 hours on that first time meeting. I wasn't nervous, or apprehensive, and i didn't even have in my mind the idea nor in my heart the feeling of love.. just comfortably talked with her like i had known her for years... Now, in all my years and all my relationships with women, i was always the one to feel more and fall in-love with them, but this time, i was not the first... she told me, not long after our first meeting that she loved me. I got to experience what i had seen from the other side too many times.. i was, unlike those who had been the subjects of my desires previously, surprised, and flattered, and felt an elation i had not felt in 20+ years! The relationship has steadily grown stronger and stronger., as has our love! Of course we have had a couple rough patches, and this has been amplified by the distance between us. I give such instances my utmost attention, examine my feelings, examine the problem, keeping in mind how devastated i have felt at those few bad times, and realizing how utterly unbearable it would be to not have her in my life... so i just love her more. Love in the age of CoViD... as if the distance alone wasn't enough to too often make us feel so helpless to be together. I still cannot see any reason that she loves me so deeply as she does, nor why i love her more than i have ever loved anyone in my life! I thought that was not possible, but with the wisdom of age, comes new understandings. All i have in my heart is the desire to protect her, to make her happy, to be beside her (even at such a distance) and support her in every way possible, and to TRY to return her love that she has for me... manifold! I am no longer so concerned about my own happiness, for, if i can make her happy, then happiness will always follow. My sweet angel, my love, Nicol, it's you and me... forever!! I get the impression that these types of Love are archetypal and are presented this way because it's a common human pattern. You can have 26 lovers in stage 2 who all treat you the same. Your so called third love can be your second relationship. You can feel type 1 love looking through a photo album of your high school sweetheart
