Make sure you put a fine metal mesh over the exposed ends of inlet and exhaust outlet under the van. If not you'll find next winter the tubes are full of wasps and your new toy won't start. Also remember the system needs winterised diesel - don't leave the tank full of summer diesel and try to start next winter 'cos that's an issue also.
Great video Justin. Cannot believe you have gone so long without one. I purchased a wire basket from Bunnings. Flipped it upside down cut out some spaces and placed it over heater and clipped it to floor. Allows for good airflow and prevents anything from getting to close to the heater.
Great idea
I've been watching for about a month and really enjoy seeing the world down under. We've always wanted to visit but of course it may be a few years now, still it's on our bucket list. Your channel is providing so much great info for our travel plans.
Thankyou
Hi guys , we love all the vids you do. One suggestion is to mount the diesel tank on the same side as your car fill then you donât need to struggle with the jerry can and simply top up when you fuel the car.
Thanks so much for the clear simple instructions on this install. A diesel heater is the next addition to our van - southern nsw is too cold in autumn to spring to be without one. Makes free camping a wonderful option. Really enjoy your vids and watching the kids grow into wonderful young people. Travel safely.
Thankyou mate
Thank you legends. I, ve go the Mrs from no camping to a tent now I have convinced her and we have a camper trailer. diesel heater would make a huge difference
Sold our old van yesterday and pick up our new one in a couple of weeks. I reckon we will need one of these for the new van. Thanks for the informative video on the installation đ
Just fitted one of these heaters and they work a treat, just waiting to test it fully once lockdown finishes. I fitted mine under the couch, made 3 exits, one towards the front another in the bathroom and the last in the centre of the van. Keep the vids coming they awesome and great tips but so inspiring to get out there and also buy great stuff.
@colin Rhodes how did you do the 3 exits please?
FINALLY picked up our new van on the weekend after waiting 10 months!
So excited - and loving it . . .
After our first two nights we have decided a diesel heater is the way to go!
Wish we added it to our van when we ordered it - sadly we did not!
Thanks for showing us how to put one in - maybe we will get lucky and win đđđ»
I've just ordered my new heater , and this was so good to watch , I'm not worried about fitting it to my van . Can't wait to fit it
Weâve got one and itâs absolutely brilliant. Camped in a free camp at Thredbo during winter and the heater was awesome. Wet efficient as Justin says.
Another quality vid. Thanks. Been looking into these for my old school york reno to keep the wife and kids happy. Certainly better quality than what I was looking at. Thanks for the opportunity. đ
Glad to help
Another good vid guys. Havenât been on a holiday in over 2 and a half year so living vicariously through your adventures. Be interesting to see how the muffler bracket and single bolt holds up after the vans seen a few more kms on corrugated roads. Hopefully it doesnât get metal fatigue đ€. Some protection around the under bed unit could also be a future mod to protect it from gear bashing into it on your travels. Love your work.
In 2007 I did a self install of a diesel heater in our Kedron van.I can honestly say of All the improvements I did, this was the best.
We lived in this van for five years.in 2012 we sold the Kedron and I spent approximately 12 months building our VW 4 motion transporter into a self contained go anywhere campervan
I was very reluctant to install a diesel heater in the VW , due to the overall small volume of the VW. We are both old age pensioners and as such the Government in 2019 / 2020 due to COVID-19 were throwing money at us, I also needed a little project.
The VW now has a diesel heater, and again I can say that of all the internal iimprovements, this is the best
I was so excited when I finally got a Van with an aircon. But the more research I do, the more I think I really need one of these lovely diesel heaters. Especially if Iâm wanting to do a lot of off grid.
Slowly fumbling our way through rigging out our van with your help! Thanks for doing all the hard work for us đ
Our pleasure!
First mod for our new van. Installed one in our pop top camper and it was fantastic. The cheap eBay ones work well.
Have camped in -5 temps with frozen pipes. A heater would definitely come in handy. Love following you guys.
Had one installed in our new JB van, it is sooo toasty to warm up van in the morning, and got the van up to 25°C in no time before we got too hot. Well worth it, would not be without one now. PS: we love your show Justin&Bec, watched 15 of your vids all weekend.
Cheers mate, glad you enjoy the vids
Hi I just wish to say a big thank you to you, the diesel heater I got is very similar to yours but no details on installation your video was absolutely wonderful absolutely wonderful so happy another South Australian was able to help go S.A.
Wow great giveaway we definitely need one of these in our caravan ,thankyou for the chance and also we love watching you guys and your kids are awesome ,love your wonderful family trips, take care and safe travels x
Thankyou
We are taking the kids to the Vic high country and the snow for the first time this July. One of these in the van would be spot on đ. Love your work and videos guys đ âïž âïž đŻ
In this cold Victorian weather, my hubby, kids and I would very much appreciate this. We love following your adventures and getting inspo
Our pleasure!
Fantastic. We've had a cheap diesel heater and a dear one. Both excellent. Sooo luxurious in a van.
Great give away, thank you for a chance to warm the family
Fitted one last year, absolutely cannot do without! Going to the snow this year. Just make sure your blankets etc. donât cover the outlet at the end of your bed, it comes out at 100c +
Yeah I did that, it cuts out and gives you an error code đ
Thanks TIAV. Have entered, would love to add this to our van that we pick up in Sept. Toasty warm sounds great!
Canât wait to put one of these in our new van at the end of this month đđđ
Very interested in getting one and loved the great instructions on how to install it. You made it sound sooo easy to do it. Thank you!
A must-have, thanks for the excellent installation video, it isn't as hard as I thought it would be! Cheers guys.
Glad it helped
Uk caravaner first time watching , we like the channel thatâs me the Mrs and the dog looking forward to seeing you on here again , liking the chat my Mrs says your cool đ I think your Mrs is cool too
Thankyou very much for showing us how to install and the reasons for your purchase, really enjoyed the detail, please stay safe and warm đ đ
Cheers mate đș
One of the best diesel heater install videos out there...cheers digger.
Great video. Great looking heater. I been doing my homework on them like U and I know U get what U pay for but..... Most of the heaters are around $300.00 mark. The one U have is $3000.00.... big difference. What makes this one you are using better then the cheaper brands. I would love to know by U or anyone that reads this... Ty and keep happy.. đ
you have never had a heater because you follow the sun.
one of the most amazing holidays I've ever had was doing Tassie in June. we arrived on June 22nd and traveled down to Bruny Island. shortest day was the 23rd. the kids where going to school in the dark and returning in the dark. just so foreign to QLD. a cultural experience without leaving Australia. it was cold but it was worth it. now you can try a cold change instead of heading north in June go south.
Thanks guys, another great video. Entered the comp, I so need one of these, I absolutely hate the cold but winter is the best time to camp.
Thatâs it hey! So nice to sit round the fire
Best thing i installed into our forward fold camper, mainly for our little one, we leave it on low all night. Just a tip, crank it up when you first turn it on and before you turn it off help burn the grit 'apparently' from inside the motor or eventually will clog your injector. đ» it literally uses Fdj^# all diesel too btw haha i only chuck 5L in at a time into the tank. Ours also came with a remote push button keychain to turn on or off from your beside haha.
Heard people talking about diesel heaters but never really looked into them, thanks for the video and review, looks good.
Thanks mate
Been watching your episodes for nearly 3 years now and I do agree it is the best accessory that you have bought I would like one in our caravan love your show
Cheers mate
Absolutely love watching your travelling and very helpful videos. My wife and I are nearing the end of selling up our family home and hitting the road in our new van and we are so looking forward to it. Keep having fun guys. Oh and a new heater would be great for our new van ;-)
Good luck!! Thanks for watching
Awesome video. Hubby was looking at getting us one. Being a bit older we feel the cold lol. Looking forward to a bit of cold weather camping with one of these. And you made it look easy to do ourselves.
Good luck mate
Awesome piece of kit! Have been eyeing one of these off for a while! đ
Love watching your adventures. We pick up our third van next week in Melbourne.
Good luck everyone! We can't wait to give this prize away!
thank you for the giveaway

Great video thanks.
Im guessing im to late for the giveaway đŹ
Free camping in the past meant rugging up and freezing, use to run the gas stove to try and get some heat, had a diesel heater installed and now toasty warm, just spent 3 weeks touring the Flinders Ranges and down the Murry, certainly made the trip very enjoyable.
I thought I might be able to do it myself but after watching you i now know i can!!, thanks heaps for your video mate much appreciated!! cheers Brian đ€
You have made it look so easy to install..... inspired me now!!!
Hubby has been a little hesitant on these - we've been waiting for a video like this - Thanks guys!!
Cheers, glad you enjoyed it
John McK 47. I used high temp gasket sealer for plate on floor. That's where one place diesel smell will come in is not a good seal
Another great informative video guys, just came home from 4 weeks travelling south west NSW and it started to get very chilly overnight.
Cheers
Entered....look forward to putting it in for our upcoming trip to the flinders!
We spent a night in Bright, Vic and froze all night only to realize the heater we had install under the bed doesn't work if the temp is lower than 5 degrees C. After watching your DIY install we plan on replacing our heater with the same model as yours. Great work as always.
Oh buggerđ„¶đ„¶
@@TripInAVan yeah diesel heat sounds like the better option, we are heading off to Yungaburra for a change in August, leaving from North East Vic so should be a nice trip.
You both look so happy. Amazing what a difference heater can make ? LOL.

Hello Justin and Bec, Happy to see your vid and much more that you got finally a Diesel heater from EberspÀcher!
The little unit is a ripper!
Please make sure that you double bracket the muffler and exhaust pipe as well the combustion air hose.
If you donât use it or very dusty you can just pop a condom over the end to seal it of as dust seal.
Viewed all commences and was surprised no one from your audience complained about the price in OZ or praised his cheap Chinese copy. Would also not suit your van btw. My first EberspÀcher I fitted 39 years ago to my first VW Bulli ! I should have kept both!!
Anyhow one more thing, the unit under the bed will warm up also the the space and dry out any moisture as a added bonus. Safe travel and hopefully you donât need to use it so often⊠cheers and safe trip
Cheers mate , appreciate the tips
Made it look so easy!! Def keen for some diy upgrades when our van arrives. Nice work guys đ€
Awesome! Thank you!
Great idea havenât thought of the heating side of things thanks for showing us that we can do this. Sounds like itâs worth the money đđ
Any time!
Just got my first van and have been looking into diesel heating for an long time, had in camper before and would love an discount as iâm very short on cash after purchase of my very first caravan that im living in. Love your videos by the way, always make my family watch your videos because i truly believe and appreciate the knowledge that you pass on through the videos that your family creates. Truly inspirationalâ€ïžđđœđ€đœ
Thanks so much
Thanks Justin. Very professionally presented and easy to understand.
The missus and I just started watching you guys. Nice work, loving all the videos. We're in the process of selling our house and doing pretty much what you guys have done for years. Can't wait, it's all we think about now. Keep em coming :)
Awesome mate, congrats
Thanks, mate. Well done and informative. So much better than the instructions that came with the unit I got.
Great vid as always, a plug and play harness makes it look like an easy install!
Seriously would love this when we head off next month for 12 months! Yahooooo đ đ
You guys inspired us to travel more bought a jayco lark and went to kenilworth last week with our crew 6 weeks old, 5 and 4. It was bloody freezing!! This would definitely be the go so we can adventure throughout winter đ
Gets so cold out there
thanks for the information, saved us a lot of time researching different heaters, and possibly buying the wrong one.
Thanks mate
Love your videos, thank you for all tips and advice. Can't wait until we get our new caravan and set off on our own adventure. đđ
Thankyou
You are amazing. Your videos and the way you explain things makes it possible for us to install things. Thank you so much đ
Thankyou for watching
Entered comp. Bloody great piece of kit I need one in my van!
Got down to 8 degrees overnight in SE QLD for our weekend escape from the hustle and bustle...not even in the peak of winter yetđ„¶đ„¶this would be pretty bloody handy to keep us warm. A diesel heater wasnât even on our minds when we built the van as we are from the Pilbara. We are stuck in Brissie for the misso Placement and canât start heading north til August. Might be able to keep our little one in her bunk longer, before she takes up most of our bed.
Love watching your family adventures. We love doing adventures with our kids too. you guys have inspired us to do more. would love this heater to add to our van.
Cheers guys
Hey Justin and Bec, look forward to your vids every Sunday. Stay safe, love ya.
Cheers mate đșđș
Like you we crank the generator up or use a heap off battery power to keep the wife and the two grandkids happy. Second time around with little ones for us. Love you channel keep it coming
Cheers
Awesome vid. Very informative, well explained and youâve done all the research for us. Weâll be adding an Eberspacher to our hybrid with haste. Thanks for uploading.
Thanks mate
Awesome give away, love watching your family adventures, and hints and tips you give
Cheers mate
Really enjoyed this video, Very easy to watch and you explained everything perfectly. I went up to Bunnings yesterday to buy a 100 mm hole saw, but when I saw the price of them I thought, I'm not spending that much to drill one hole, then I saw your idea of all the pilot holes and a hacksaw blade, problem solved đ
Good stuff, saves ya a few dollars hey
Soooo need one of these!! Hope I win so we can give installing it a go! Still new to caravan life as only been living in our van 6 months so still nervous about DIY!!! Canât wait to try this one!!
Entry in, what an awesome unit, going to be spending a winter back in Tassie, so perfect đ€đ€
Fingers crossed!
I can't believe its taken you so long to install one, one of the first things we did and we don't travel full time like you.
I would love one of these for keeping me and mainly the misso warm so she wants to come camping more.
I have a portable one. I pipe it in to my van. So good for 0c camping on the murray as i do a lot. Also, handy when hiding under my awning when its pissing rain, it wont blow out like a gas jobby. I just point it at my feet, or move around as needed. Power comes from an anderson plug lead from the 4th battery in the 200 series. Power figures....9 odd amps on start up ( thats the max as thats the glow plug to get ignition, for about 60-90 seconds ) drops to 2.1 amps on flat out mode, and lowest setting is 0.85-0.90 amps. Diesel usage on average is about 220 ML per hour, this varies of course as to how high you have it. Still a shit load cheaper than running a genny to use the a/c in heat mode. Lowest setting, has the van at 23c and the test was done with out side temp 2c.... so bloody warm. You dont know how good these things are until you have one. Keep an eye on your exhaust, you may need to insul wrap it with something, as the heat exchanger will get up to 220c on high, but average about 180c, and a lot of that heat is the same as the exhaust pipe outlet. Thats my humble experience so far with mine, Enjoy!!
Thank you for your show very informative product wise and trips are what the average people can do free camping is a must and always do the right thing where ever you are . a member of R and S tours
Cheers
Gâday guys that looked fairly easy might try the install myself cheers for that
Great video. Thank you! Looking forward to getting one in our van, hopefully this winter. đ€đ
Cheers
I've watched your video a few times now and I just love your presentation, the both of you. You sound like a lovely couple. I have liked and subbed and I am about to look for some of you other videos.
cheers from Brisbane.
Thanks heaps mate
I recently fitted a diesel heater to our old van and itâs worked a treat. Our muffler has a small hole for condensation to drain from as Iâve heard they rust out if this breather hole isnât facing downwards. It might be worth checking this out on yours to make sure it doesnât rust. We look forward to next weekâs episode.
Thanks for the tip mate. I didn't know about this
Cheers Ears !!
Canât believe Iâm saying it but need one of these beauties in sunny đ Qld at the moment !!
Brassy đŹđŹđŹđŹđŹ
Another great DIY video.
Happy wife happy life đ.
Just about to head around Tassie so would be an excellent gadget for those cold mornings.
Love your work Justin and Bec
Cheers mate
Hey guys I would disconnect the hose between the cold air inlet and the heater. That way if something is put on the floor blocking the inlet it can draw air from under the bed which is not air tight. Saves the risk of over heating.
All good, it has a safety that shuts it off, if the intake inside is covered
Unrelated, but loving that bedspread đ
How awesome is it having a diesel heater. Game changer.
So good, and bedspread đ
Great review I have wondered how good these were, especially since winter is coming!
Hope you enjoy!
well done that was excellent, nice and clear delivery Iam in the market and enjoyed your presentation
Cheers
Fantastic informative video. Just entered. Thank you. We have a 12v electric blanket but to be able to warm the van instead will be fantastic. Cheers
Good luck
Nice unit. My only suggestion is to extend the exhaust out beyond the cab to avoid it getting into camper. Thanks for posting
Would love one of these in out van. I hate the cold!!!. Love your videos, watch them all the time. đ€đ€
cheers mate, good luck
Bloody good job installing that diesel heater mate enjoy the warmth đ
Thanks mate
Awesome! Thanks for the chance to win guys!
Cheers mate, good luck
Set up looks greats! Just entered the competition and canât wait to see more of your videos đ
Awesome! Thank you!
Would love to get this smart handy unit in our camper trailer so we can go travel in winter. Thanks for the video
Cheers
My wife only said today we need a diesel heater for our trip to Carnarvon Gorge in August.
Fingers crossed đ€ Ann Hawksley
This would be an awesome gift for my Brother and sister in laws wedding anniversary they have a brand new van like us but no heating!
Hi another great video, I would move the exhaust so it comes out the side of the van, as the fumes from the exhaust could rise threw the van
Loving all your CZcams content. Can't wait to get on the road ourselves.
Cheers mate.
