- In Episode 74 of Truck House Life, the Alpine Creek Lodge journey finally comes to an end, but not before a couple more things happen! AND FINALLY meet the owners of Alpine Creek Lodge (Claude and Bob Bondy - you met the other owner & their better half Jennifer in the last episode out at the lodge;). This was an incredible trip and probably the most things I've had go wrong on any trip my entire life. Enjoy!

Way back when in the late 1970s or maybe early 1980s, I had an old beater car (probably a Dodge) with a blown starter. I got a used one from a junk yard and went to install it by the roadside where I'd had to leave the car when the old starter failed. On a whim I busted out an audio cassette recorder I happened to have in the car and crawled under the car with it and proceeded to narrate the entire replacement process. I played it back and found it actually made for an interesting listen with all of the clattering tools, grunts and groans when loosening and tightening nuts & bolts, along with a very detailed description of everything I was doing. Cars driving by on the road made for more audio entertainment and when I was finally done, the sound of the starter cranking the engine, which by then sounded like sweet music from a symphony.
I mailed the tape to a friend who was in the army at the time (I think stationed in Germany) and he said it was his favorite form of entertainment for a spell - probably listened to it 1/2 dozen times or more.
Your video of fixing the trailer hub reminds me of that. It's like a 20th & 21st century form of cave paintings.
SEND IT ‼
Keep cranking these out, I know you will. Sorry about the hiccups in this travel adventure, but you kept your head and the folks were good to ya! Be safe Timmy!
Will do!
it's admirable that, Claude requires his son to earn himself a business degree first instead of just handing him the family business.
Yup haha! Gotta earn that bone!
God damn dude I always love listening to a 7.3 working. Never gets old
hehehehehe
Glad you finally reached Willow and got to shed that four hundred pound sack of lemons... Thumb's up to Randy.
Bob and Claude sure was two real nice guy's too, cool to see two generations getting along so good.
lol yup! Good folks along the path make life sweeter for sure!
Claude seems like such a down to earth humble caring person and a great role model for his son not often do you come across people like them now a days.
I did enjoy it and I’m so glad to hear that the dog survived! Happy travels!
I love hearing these two ( father and son talk) those two guys were interesting fellows. Great video 👍🏔
Yup Bob and Claude are great!
Hope you're safe and sound, and have all of the tires and bearings you need.
yup back and alive! Thank you so much for the donation Carla, I really appreciate it:). Hope you have a good weekend down there!
This has been one awesome video for the last two videos the true life of truck house live Timmy in The raw he made me tired but I enjoyed it
Right on appreciate it! I thought it was a pretty fun mini-series to edit.
My favorite part of this episode series was when you busted out the trailer repair. I learned something from that. It was my favorite part because we got to see you execute a clean repair and recovery as well as cogently teach your audience in real time. You dealt with quite a lot on those previous days. It was a series of excellent recoveries. Thanks for sharing.
Right on, that's why I filmed it:)
I spit lemonade out my nose when you said “it sucked me off” 😂😭
Same 😂😂😂
sorry lol
Truck house be like oh yeah.
Glad you made it back! I enjoyed how you made this adventure into a mini series, It made it suspenseful and left me wanting more every time. Keep up the amazing adventures!
Yeah, I really enjoyed editing this mini-series together:)
Loved it! Great to meet the owners of the lodge. Realy cool to see Bob's desire to take over the lodge. Also that he is dedicated to learn more about business. Great adventure like always. I'm thinking we are going to have to get you a dozen good luck charms. One for each day with 5 to spare.. LOL! Mark ( & Teresa)
Thanks! Yeah, it's awesome that Bob is inspired by the dream too:). I'm sure some good luck is to come;)
Glad to see you overcame the bad times as it means only good times ahead! Once the borders open I will head for Alaska!
hope so! Maybe see ya on the road up here!
When you get stuck like that, keep foot on throttle just a bit and crank the wheel hard left, then hard right, constant back n forth til it grips and pulls you out. That trick has saved me countless times here Inn Montana on backroads in winter. Saw it on CZcams actually. I'll look for the vid I saw.
EDIT: This vid czcams.com/video/_9mmajFmVcc/video.html
Demonstrates it in sand but works in deep snow situations too. Stay warm out there, Tim!
yup I did that for a while, was just creating ice under the tires, winch always works;). Lockers would be awesome one day!
Greetings, Excellent Vídeo...👍👍
Thanks!
I love it the oilfield sucks but it does make dreams happen!!!! That’s why I work there
DUDE I DON'T KNOW HOW YOU DO IT, SOUL PATIENTLY, I WOULD BE SCREAMING N HOLLLERING N FREEZING TO DEATH! WOW!
Yup, it was a test for sure lol.
JUST IN! In the next alaska state trooper episode “we follow a powerstoke with a log cabin in the bed and a blown polaris’’ 😂🤙🤙
right?! I was waiting for them to start filming any second lol.
5:58 And that, my friend, is why I have a winch on every truck I own. You just never know.
exactly! In the words of Beyonce.... If you like it then you shoulda put a winch on it;)
Glad to see your luck finally turn around (except for the truck going off the road, lol)...great video as usual. Now I want to visit that lodge. I went on a backpacking trip in Alaska about 12 years ago and it was truly other worldly; would love to go back!
me too! Alpine Creek is awesome!
Great stuff Timmy, glad your back safe and sound!
Thanks man, yup me too!
What a great father and son relationship. Fathers make the man you become! Good or bad.
Doesn't your trailer axle have a cotter pin that goes through the "starfish" retaining clip to keep it from coming off the nut?
Glad I wasn’t the only one that caught that. Yes there should be a cotter pin that goes through the retainer and hub nut. Explains why it came loose
Yes, that’s a castle nut and I think there should be a split pin through the spindle. The only thing that stopped the nut from coming right out was the cap!
Not sure, it's my buddies trailer, there were no cotter pins when I removed it, maybe the shop forgot to put them in lol.
Yeah, I was expecting to see you pull out the cotter pin, and was surprised when you didn't.
I just love your channel, and ill tell you i cannot wait to get out to visit Alpine Creek Lodge! Thank you Timmy for once again sharing your adventures with all of us... much love
Haha thanks!! Yup Alpine Creek Lodge truly is awesome:)
Rough times at least it wasn't boring! Lol! Wow what bad luck! But it looked up. Till next video, can't wait.
far from boring lol
I loved seeing bob and son.. will definitely be checking out alpine creek lodge.. I live in upstate ny so it may take some serious planning to do.... And of course wait till they let me cross border ...
Do it!
Hey Tim I know you know your gear and that your really self sufficient. But if I may suggest swapping out that trailer axle for something that allows you to have full size rims and tires. You might never change a trailer tire again. Those little golf car sized tires do maybe double the RPM's of a full size tire at a given speed. Love your videos and the life you have chosen! Thanks for sharing. Peace
That's my buddies trailer, mine is good to go, never borrowing his again lol.
I think your friend's cabin is in need of a new rule: Soup ready to eat.
Looking forward to more videos!
yup I'd be down for that rule!
🤣🤣🤣 we hope next trip misfortunes are reduced in at least 5%....which is a looot 😂😂. Greetings from Uruguay
me too!
🇺🇸 Again greetings from 🏝So. Cal, my alert told me you posted this so we/me and my cat's had to sit it out.
The lodge owner meet-up was great and thanks for the link to Bob's vlogs, have viewed them, subscribed and hope the best for the "always smiling" young man.
Love it, thanks.
👍🗽
So Cal sounds nice right now lol. and thanks for supporting Bob!
Ur manners are on point! I notice that in every video and I want you to know it doesn't go unnoticed ❤
thanks haha
After all that, your next adventure is going to be epically amazing and incredibly fun. God knows you deserve it! Much aloha and blessings. Stay safe for awhile💝💝💝
I hope so haha
Very cool adventure. Makes me want to go check out the Alpine Creek Lodge. Thanks for letting me tag along!
You should man it's awesome!
cant wait!
Grab some tubes for your trailer tires and put them in there. This way you have added protection mang.
It's my friend's trailer, so I never have to use it again now lol
Wow man. That was an amazing epic trip. Lots of type 2 fun there.
sure was! Type 2 the entire time.
Cool video thanks for sharing enjoy seeing the videos from Alaska. Haven't been there since I was a small lad.
No worries!
Tried everything then went oil field and attained it. Ol story that many of us know but sad that more don’t understand the levity of it.🍻 Oil and Gas has always saved our ass.
Glas you made it through the Alpine Lodge Adventure safe & whole brother !
me too, man that was a trip lol.
I'm pretty impressed young man. Love your channel. Glad I found your channel. I watch a lot of winter camping content, but yours is one of best. I live in Iowa. God bless and take care
When you make the flat bed for the truck, don't forget to put spare and spares for the spare tires.
and maybe a spare for the spare of the spare
Just finished watching this series for the second time and man, big ups for recording through the bs and not letting the tough times get you down too much. It’s a huge inspiration! I’ve quit filming and turned around during adventures after things went south just because I felt defeated. I’ll have you in the back of my mind next time to remind myself to stay positive and keep pushing on! Keep at it with genuine content brother, you have become my favorite channel! I’ve been trying to film my outdoor adventures the past few years but I’ve put too much pressure on myself trying to get perfect shots and capture everything which resulted in no productivity. Your videos have taught me to embrace imperfection and organic moments that arise, even something as small as some painted rocks on the side of a river. Those details are key for telling a great story. Stay awesome man!
Thanks man, yup it was all testing for sure!
That's a rough couple of days! Glad it all worked out.
me too lol
Yeah they are a lifesaver aren't they but I'll tell you I've been having the same luck as you I got two one tons down a car down two lawn tractors down and a snowboard down so you're doing better than I am so thank you your lucky stars you got that winch
Thankyou Timmy..I used to get noise tickets for my 79 Torino...
haha
Enjoyed it
Oh my gosh, I haven't laughed this hard in a long time!!! haha! :D You sure are resourceful!
lol, I try to be
Our lives have so many parallels with “fun” things occurring while out and about living life. I don’t have a house truck nor have I ever been to Alaska. 😂 I’ve gotten pretty good at preventing maintenance due to so many failures along the way.
Enjoyed, seems like nice people
The best!
A great video series.I love your lifestyle. Its alot different here in S.C.
Thanks man, yep just a lil different;)
@@TruckHouseLife my parents met in Anchorage in 1965.From there they settled in N.C. God willing and the creek don't rise I will make it to Alaska before I die.
Such great people at ACL!
FACT!
Man this series was super entertaining. It’s also really cool that you use the premiere thing to publish videos. We get to interact with the coolest dude on youtube - how neat is that!!
Thanks man, glad you enjoyed it! And yep, I really like the chat feature on premieres, might do a live stream this coming weekend again.
Ya, that bearing set up was not right, the nut has to have some kinda of keeper so it can't back off! Usually it's a castle nut with a cotter key. Sure glad you made it to your destination! Sure hope you have better luck in the future and are safe. Keep up the great work and as always thank you for taking us along.
Did ya figure out the cops were up to?.....Probably just couldn't get enough of that bad ass powerstroke!
Lmao indeed
lol nope, didn't wanna ask em;)
Bob's Vlog is really cool.
yeah Bob is awesome:)
Very cool Timmy “Bob Vlog”
yup!
Had those same builder grade low profile trailer tires on a Coleman trailer. After two blowouts on the interstate and the same replacements, I found some 8 ply rated tires and never had any more problems. Trailer builders put the cheapest tires they can find on them.
That sucks man lol.
Those mini wheels are the worst thing you can put on a landscape trailer. I had a dual axle with those bad boys. They'd wear out in a week and I'd have to spend $60 to replace one tire. Soooo, screw that. My repair man took those tiny wheels off and replaced them with two axles and four 14-inch tires for about $700. They lasted the remaining life of that trailer. It can be done and for you I would say it's probably a survival issue.
Thanks for the tip about tightening up the castle nut. I bookmarked it.
Hay Murphy you need a cotter pin in that trailer axle. tighten till you can free spin the tire one rotation by hand. If your missing a pin use a nail or something and bend it over.
I’m going to get out there in the next few years
Just started watching, with my luck I would have to carry 4 spare tires, bearings, and maybe a whole axle.
lol nice man, welcome to the clown show, sounds like you're a circus participant too;)
wow I'd be spiking my hot chocolate with some Jack right about then.
looks sorta like you helped your buddy build that cabin, it looks like Truckhouse's big brother LOL.. but cool to hear he had no experience so there is hope for people like me
hey, now you can do a side hustle working in a tire shop if you need to haha
I love the hat.
‘Born in a bathtub?’ 🤣😂🍻
ya never know;)
Waiting on Timmy!
here!
Your making me homesick 😞
I think I made myself homesick on this one lol.
Those small wide trailer wheels with 5 nuts are not designed for the highway as far as I know. They are designed for golf buggies and landscaping trailers for soft ground, but they are limited to 25mph. I nearly bought a pair for my trailer as they were small and the trailer would be low to the ground, but it was actually stamped into the metal wheel "Max 30Km / 25Mph" Possibly that was the issue with the bearings and the wheels?
You have way more patients then me I can’t drive 25 mph through my one stop light town without getting irritated. I would never be able to drive that far at that speed!
yup it was a test for sure, especially after what I went through the whole trip combined.
Perhaps it's time to get some of those tank tread tire mods for the truck, so you can go to Alpine whenever you want and not have to worry about being stranded on a broke down snow-machine. Seriously though, it would be pretty badass to have the option to use the mod the jeep was using. Just to make your friends jealous when you pulled them out.
You don't even know lol, I approached a track company asking about tracks hehehe
@@TruckHouseLife Sweet. Let's hope you can swing some, eventually.
I’m glad you’re back safe!
I know it’s hard when you’re tired and you’ve lost your bearings.
Sometimes you just gotta tighten things up and take it careful!
Be well, and stay safe!
Me too! Yup, was stoked to be able to limp back. Never borrowing my buddies trailer again lol.
Hope you are staying safe and staying warm btw how was Wasilla I just saw you drive out of our parking lot it was awesome to see you
Yup all is well now! Was doing another clownshow adventure with a couple of friends up in Willow.
Sometimes laughable luck is all the luck I can find!
right?!
Don't understand why i'm getting all these now cause i'm a follower
All that money spent on that truck and no lockers?? That could be some great content for the overland community. Lockers are a game changer when it comes to traction.
ARB airlockers are close to $2,000 when all's said and done, maybe one day
@@TruckHouseLife yeah but air lockers are top of the pile when it comes to the world of lockers. You can get some decent “zip” lockers (Detroit style) from Yukon G&A for under $1K.
@@bfe671 I've had Detroils in my Suzuki Samurais, don't want my tires chirping and barking with a camper on the back going around turns;)
My winch cooks and cleans
My winch just pulls me outta trouble when I'm in it.
Might have to start a gofundme just for spare tires, man, talk about jella hectic trip.
lol
Hauling sleds backwards puts all the weight on the tires an not the tongue. Blown tires for sure
It's a homemade trailer designed to haul them that way, 2 backwards and 1 forwards, super funky design... i'm definitely never borrowing my friend's trailer again lol.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Im a thec Mecanique u got my respect ✊ u working with snap on tools
Thanks yo!
Yo i whitewater kayak two bru ! Hit me up 🤙
Man nice mechanical skills Timmy! I guess you gotta know a little to save your ass out there! 👍🔥
I try!
You forgot to put the Cotter Pin thru the retainer cap.
FULL SEND my man Timmy 🏴🇬🇧🏔❄️🌲addicted to ALASKA Dave in Cornwall 🇬🇧
haha thanks man!
@@TruckHouseLife no worries 😉
That guy rooked you on that tire for $50! Dang! A guy in need shouldn’t have to pay a high price for junk. That sucks.
yup no choice though lol
2019 a lemon….
Sell it once it’s fixed
The places you go your life could depend ob a good sled
I grew up in the bush so I know…….
Hope your cruise control works at 20 mph.
Doesn't work below 30mph:( lol
Ok, now you can stop breaking shit!🤣
right?!
@@TruckHouseLife that flatbed you want to install will give you all sorts of room for spare trailer tires..
👍👍
Where near lake Clark is your fathers cabin? My family started and homesteaded port Alsworth right in the middle of lake Clark!
Telequana Lake
should be using snow chains?...and btw i didn't quite follow what happened with the lost dog!
I had snow chains, but the winch is way faster. Start at episode 1 of the Alpine Creek Lodge mini-series and it will show how the whole dog thing got started;)
Dude you can’t win omg, sometimes we get tested! It can be hard to keep our cool!
How come I never see you catching a fish and cooking it?
Dust cap?
What if yer snowmobile breaks down 30 mi from anyting in the middle of nowhere and no cell phone service? Please don't travel alone
Like they did before cell phones were invented, you figure it.
I carry a Garmin Inreach (essentially a satellite texting phone)
lol true
I just looked up the lodge on Google maps and for shits & Giggles I looked up directions from my house. It's a 2 days 16 hours drive and 3,651 miles. 😳 I'm gonna ride my bike tho 😜🤣🤣 It'll only take 12 days 15 hours and for some reason it's farther away when riding a bike at 3,735 miles! 🤔🧐😂😂
do it! lol
Removing the rubber from the grease cap was a waste of time just take the cap off
dangit lol
Tell us about your bigfoot encounters or strange sounds that you couldn't identify!
This is pre recorded but its showing like a live weird in my opinion
Don't get me wrong great content as always... loved part 5 great work bro
hmmm strange? maybe it's the premeire thing. The only reason I premiere is because it allows me to live chat with you guys during the premiere.
@@TruckHouseLife that's what I was thinking also its actually a pretty cool feature for uploading...
To much weed😅
