Why Did Rangers FC Die?
Why Did Rangers FC Die?
Why Did Rangers FC Die? - Hry
Fun Fact: The last manager to win the Scottish premiership that wasn't Celtic or Rangers was literally Sir Alex Ferguson.
Love this new style of content, since you're also focussing on less covered stories that are still super interesting.
Would suggest a video about SC Freiburg, since Union Berlin has been covered so much. Freiburg has risen to be a European contender, they have a manager that's been there for ten plus year and have an incredible academy producing the likes of Matthias Ginter and Nico Schlotterbeck. Absolutely deserve more coverage.
Forgot to mention that Aberdeen were the only Scottish clubs outside the Old Firm rivals to ever won the European competitions. It was also achieved under Fergie back in 1983, when they defeated Real Madrid 2-1.
common knowledge
@@alehlete830 not rlly since no one gives a fuck about the premiership outside Scotland
Technically Celtic, Rangers or _The_ Rangers. There have been three clubs that won it since he did.

Rangers used a loophole in order to keep their titles. The only ones who claim they're the same club are Rangers fans. Check company house records, new company, new club.

One of the greatest achievements in Scottish Football isn't Celtic winning the European Cup in 1967, it's not Rangers or Aberdeen winning the European Cup Winners Cup in 1972 or 1983, it's none of those things, it's the Scottish Football authorities watching a club cheat for years (side letters, not telling the SPL), amass debt they would never be able to pay, watching them go into liquidation, then watch a new club take their place, no debt, and claim they were the same club all along. It is one of the biggest scams in football because if they are the same club (and a club by definition is a legal entity) then they owe a lot of money. Why should other clubs watch what they are spending if they can just go into liquidation and re-invent themselves as the same club?
Like it or not, Scottish football needs "Old Firm" and therefore, "Rangers" were preserved. New club in all things legal, same club in all things semantics.
I'd quite gladly watch Celtic do exactly the same as we did and get relegated so we can rack up 5+ free league titles. You're complaining but you basically got 8 league titles for free. If either team dies for real it will be very bad for Scottish football.
@@willnestor6422 nah it’ll be the best day there’s ever been for the game your club and it’s fans are a cancer and the entire Scottish game was better when you were in the arse end of the league playing Alloa 👍🏻

I'd love for you to do a video on two cases that this reminded me of - the case of belensenses , a club split into two because of a disagreement between the owner and the chairman and resulting in the split of a club that was huge untill the late 90s. Another is salgueiros, a team that got relegated and dissolved because of their chairman who stole money, the key element to bring interest is , Zidane played his first match in a European competition against salgueiros. Other cases in Portugal that are still not fully resolved - boavista got wrongfully relegated and the decision overturned years later but they lost all the momentum and have still to be paid the settlement by the Portuguese FA. And the most infamous one- Gil vicente had a player called mateus caused them to be relegated because he was allegedly wrongfully registered and was allegedly ineligible to play that season, saving belensenses from relegation, and waiting 10 years to have the decision overturned and to be reinstated to the top flight
I’ll have a good look into Portuguese football in future mate!
@@Vizeh there's plenty of controversies and even in my family ,because my grandfather was chairman of fc porto
@@Vizeh Get your facts right. The company that owned Rangers Football Club Died. Not Rangers Football Club.
In fairness and this is coming from a Celtic fan for both Celtic and Rangers we can’t really do anything else about the fact that other teams don’t have enough money. We can only continue to win that our job as a football club so I don’t know why we always get the blame for the league being terrible as it is
Most PL clubs don’t have fan bases like Rangers or Celtic. If they were in the PL they would have both incredible support and financial power to attract better players. That is why many English Football fans would hate for us to be part of their league, we would do well. They often criticise our current team like that’s the squad we would have IF we were in the same league. A fairer judgement would be to imagine how a PL club would do in Scotland with only the money from season tickets and trying to secure European football on a reasonably small budget as the prize money/TV is nonexistent.
In my opinion the best thing for both clubs is to ensure that neither can overtake the other in the long term, if it becomes a 1 horse race everyone will suffer in the long term
@@Nisbet5060honestly I’ve wondered why Wales is apart of the English football pyramid, but not Scotland. I think every team would benefit from the increased eyes on their clubs. Plus as a Rangers fan I’d love to see regular clashes with the PL giants. If not an integrated league then at least a domestic cup that features Scottish teams along with English teams.

When you explained how long we need to go back in time to find a Scottish champion outside of Celtic and Rangers, you missed a chance to mention that the Aberdeen team was managed by Sir Alex Ferguson. After that he was hired by Man United, worked there for 27 years, won 13 EPL and 2 UCL titles and retired 10 years ago.
Yes but the sheep are a complete jobber side lol
They started out in the 4th tier, not the 3rd. Also, they had to apply for a new SFA membership and a part share from an existing SFL member to play in their first game in the cup against Brechin City. They also had to apply to play in the new SPFL.
I’m a Rangers fan and you’ve covered the subject well. It’s a miracle we managed to climb out of the gutter back to where we belong…
Still in the gutter
Back to 2nd best
And that’s 2nd place
You have millions of fans world wide. How is that a miracle? Your fans could have saved the club back in 2012 but you chose not to.
Shoulda let that bigoted club die. I personally don’t like clubs who sing about being covered in my blood.
Tbf, I am a Celtic fan but an example in a different sport of when a team went into administration was when Force India did in F1. It was bought by another party (by Lawrence Stroll. I think. Can't fully remember if that is when he became part of ownership) and even though the team had new ownership and new name, the team was still the same team at its core.
This example I’ve heard a lot to be Fair!
@@Vizeh Honestly they could not have come back at a worse time. They came back so quickly to stop the 10 in a row
If you want a similar situation in a different sport (well, football but a different code of football), look at American football team Cleveland Browns of the NFL. They were not liquidated, but they were sold and moved to a different city, the team name, colours, etc all changed. Similar to Wimbledon FC moving to Milton Keynes, but those similarities stop there. The Cleveland club was reformed a couple years later and enfranchised with the legal rights to all records and history of the former Cleveland club, and the one that moved to Baltimore was considered a new expansion club. Look up Cleveland Browns history and it will show the club as existing as a professional club 1946-95, 1999-present. It's the same club with a hiatus in the middle. While yes Rangers didn't move anywhere, they were sold, but because they retain the history and records, they are the same club.
EDIT : Had to edit because my spell check literally changed Cleveland to Cleavage without me picking it up before posting it 🤣🤣🤣
@@Vizeh In my opinion a football club is the badge, the supporters and their history, a football club is not the administration or the holdings firm, the finances of a club is a separate matter entirely, and with all due respect I disagree with you saying that Rangers died.

To me Rangers will always be Rangers. Same fans, same stadium, same badge and same colours. Uefa also state it’s the same club and that the company went to liquidation. Also, when rangers won the league under Gerrard it was considered the 55th not the 1st. UEFA also lists Rangers history in it’s entirety on their website. I will also add that I really don’t wish what happened to our club on anyone.

Im a die hard hoops fan who has rangers supporters as family members and friends, i am of the firm belief that theres no celtic without rangers and theres no rangers without celtic, both clubs are so reliant on each other for so many things, revenue, rivalry, interest, our league would be dead without each of the 2 clubs and our national coefficient ranking would be absolutely awful, yes the rivalry can be very heated and sometimes its hard to separate the football from the hatred and political aspects of the clubs, but when you take a step back, both sets of fans are equally passionate about thier clubs, we absolutely carry scotland and as much as some people poke at the fact rangers are apparently "English" and celtic are apparently "irish" both were formed in Scotland and are scottish by definition, im glad rangers are back in the top league its made football fun again for me as a hoops fan watching domestic football, yes on derby day i hate the other side of the city, i have a lot of respect for rangers as a club and thier history and i hope some gers fans feel the same about celtic and arent too arrogant to admit it, we are both Glaswegian powerhouses and we represent scotland on the european stage, so i rest my case, celtic and rangers need one another and im glad rangers didnt die off into obscurity for the sake of scottish football 🍀🔵 but sidenote if you are a rangers fan/celtic fan and you dont support Scotland internationally as yer first nation and pick Ireland or england first you arent a real scottish football fan 🏴👍
I agree with you. Im not sure why but I just dont have a buzz about our national team. Dont get me wrong I watch the games and happy for them to win but I genuinely just dont care when the loose.
Bullcrap. The league only died for Celtic. Without anyone to sing their "party songs" about, Celtic's stadium was often only half-full during league games. However *the attendance for every single other club drastically increased* after Rangers died. It was the best thing that ever happened to Scottish football. I only wish it had gone on long enough to see Celtic pop out of existence too.

Theyre the same football club, and always will be. What is a football club, really, other than a stadium, a name, a crest, a fanbase and history? That's what makes a club a club.
As a corporate business, yes, it's a brand new thing.
But Rangers didn't have shareholders when they formed in the 1800's. They had a strip, some players, a badge and a name. They still have that now.
(Though if you want to be ridiculously technical, yes, it's a new 'thing'.) But I think that misses the point of what a football club was truly meant to represent.

We agree with the competition issue but the TV money isn’t available to make it much more competitive. It has to just be cheap smart business to get better & try get UECL or UEL qualification like hearts did this season.
It’s a shame man cause it just looks bad on League I think
@@Vizeh if teams can keep doing some smart business is really the only way as the sky tv money is nothing really for the teams. Hearts probs have done the best with that you would have to say as they managed to get group stage of UECL. Keeping that flow of European money is probs the only way to compete. A lot of the teams give tough games against the 2 Glasgow sides but they don’t have the quality todo that for the whole season. You’re a legend mate!
@@Vizeh bro I have an idea for you and tbh you may be already doing this idea
Anyway these new videos are better than what you were doing before if you had to choose one way of doing it it’s obvious this way is better
I understand you probably pick topics based on how you feel and what resonates with your heart but I think you should use “GOOGLE TRENDS” it’s a website that shows you what information is trending right now
And your channel is a football channel so type in football into the search bit to figure out the topic
Then you should make a video on the topic that is the most trending
I know an idea like sounds a bit manipulative but I think it’s the better option as your videos will gain far more views as people will already be looking for information on that topic
You may not know everything about the topic but just make bullet points and do the best you can with the information you have
And you should name the videos to closely resemble the trending topic
Even if you don’t make the videos on the same day it should still tract more views if the popularity isn’t exactly on time
As you already know things don’t happen over night and you’ve proven that by becoming as big as you have
But I really think using Google trends to try and be ahead of the algorithm will help you push towards a million subscribers
At the end of the day it’s better to speed up the process and it be slightly out of your comfort zone than be perfectly in your comfort zone and it take longer
Just my opinion bro
It’s the same club the business doesn’t define the club. The badge, the history, the stadium and fans define the club there still rangers
It was fully self inflicted by Rangers. When English clubs were banned from Europe, they exploited it by offering big money to England internationals, who couldn’t get European club experience down south. For a time, Rangers were spending bigger than some of the top English clubs - even years into the Premier League era. They were doing to the Scottish game, what PSG have done to the French game, over the last dozen years.
Celtic were in financial trouble themselves, in the early 90s, and were struggling to clinch runners up spot, or the cups. Rangers thought and assumed their financial dominance would go unchallenged. Then Celtic were saved by Fergus McCann. Who reinvested in the squad, and rebuilt a decaying Parkhead. Rangers continued spending, and initially continued their dominance, only interrupted by Celtic winning the league under Wim Jansen in 1998. Rangers were cocksure, that for every fiver Celtic spent, they’d spend a tenner. By 2000, Mark Hateley was declaring Rangers dominance as unbreakable, that Scottish football was now ‘broken’, and Rangers should seek new pastures.
Ironically, he made this ridiculous statement on the eve of Celtic’s revival under Martin O’Neill. But Rangers still kept that mentality, that all they needed to do was outspend Celtic. But it didn’t work out like that. Especially as such an over ambitious transfer policy, requires immense progress in Europe, which they weren’t making. They spent on the assumption that the invite to the riches to the English set up, was always in the post. When it clearly wasn’t. It was Rangers that were more obsessed with moving to England. Not saying Celtic weren’t open to leaving the Scottish set up - but they eyed up concepts like an Atlantic League, which were more realistic, and meant negotiating with like minded clubs like Ajax, Porto, Benfica, PSV, etc.
Rangers kept partying like it was 1999, only the game was moving on, and leaving Scotland behind. Celtic took the harsh decisions to address this harsh reality, and took stick from their fans, in doing so. But Rangers were in denial. They thought that what worked for them in the 80s and 90s, would work in the 2000s. And as we all know, it ended in tears.
Didn't watch the last vid, only saw the thimbnail, Thought you quit. Glad to see you're still making videos

Vizeh can you please do a video on the history of middlesbrough
Sir Alex was the manager at the time of Aberdeens league win
Strange but True, although the company that ran Rangers Football Club were put into administration and a new company were formed.
Rangers FC did NOT die, their history will remain. When Steven Gerrard won the Scottish Premiership title as Rangers manager with guys like Connor Goldson, Jermain Defoe and Ryan Jack it became Rangers 55th League title not their 1st, where the powers that be are concerned.
In case, you don't really believe or seriously doubt what I am saying there's a recording of a Scottish football Radio phone-in where a Scottish football fan (Celtic supporter, actually) and a lawyer has phoned in a bid to put the issue to bed by stating quite categorically that Rangers have not lost their history, and that it was never really in any danger.
Nah they're deid.
I am not a fan of either of the Old Firm clubs, so in a completely unbiased opinion, I would consider the current Rangers club to be the same club as always, because they kept all the intellectual property, badging, records, cups, history, etc. It's a legal matter rather than a financial one. It goes by who keeps the team history. Two different examples :
Milton Keynes Dons football club is NOT the same club as Wimbledon FC, nor is AFC Wimbledon, both are new clubs as of the day each became enfranchised, as neither club retains Wimbledon FCs records and history. Wimbledon FC is completely defunct.
In American football, the Cleveland Browns were moved to Baltimore and became the Baltimore Ravens. Three years later a new Cleveland Browns club was enfranchised in Cleveland. The new club was given the rights to all records and history of the old club, so are defacto the same club as the old club. The Baltimore club is treated as a new club beginning with the year they were enfranchised. The Cleveland club officially shows a club history with a 3 year hiatus.
The Rangers situation is not identical, but similar to the American football club in Cleveland. Where the Cleveland club was sold rather than liquidated, it is a similar situation in that a club ceased to exist for just a short period, then resumed as the same club they have always been.
The owner of the browns was awarded an expansion team and the browns were indefinitely suspended at the same time, meaning that the browns still existed and were always scheduled to return with new ownership, the two franchises are completely separated
Cos they Spent money they didn’t have chasing Celtics greatness
The “For Every £5 Celtic Spend, Rangers will Spend £10” line is damming

Two very obvious proofs of the club dying:
The players left for free. Their contract was with the old club that died. So they had no more contract and could leave.
Very quickly after Rangers' death, the SFA changed the rules that allowed a new club to take the same name as an old club (hence Airdrie United re-branded as Airdrieonians). Now what would be the sudden motivation be for that, seeing as they hadn't done anything about it in decades beforehand?
