Great review glad to see it covered and legitimized. Love Molecule 01 and use it frequently by itself and for layering. Many claim it smells of nothing, however I have no trouble picking up the glorious cedar note.

I watched Jeremy put on 30 sprays of molecule 1 in his car! I have heard that it is a great base for fragrances with poor projection and longevity. I will have try this at some point. Alison was great. Thanks, you two.

I love the way iso e super mixed with this one body oil I had which was just sweet almond oil infused with lavender geranium and chamomile. I think when iso e super is layered with lavender especially it does something I really like it gets this extra texture (George Harrison) of hazy muskyness
It reminds me of a marker red ink used many years ago. I like Escentric 01 more, it is more present and have citrusy vibe

Interestingly I smell the scents of the Molecule series strongly and I can smell them on my skin for a long time. Molecule 01 reminds me of my childhood in the 70s actually because my dad used a scent those days that smelt just like it.
I like Molecule 01...but it's a light woody kind of scent and I have sadly never received a compliment while wearing it. I occasionally wear it when low-key fragrances are called for (such as Original Vetiver and Mugler Cologne)...plus, I will sometimes layer it with other perfumes. When my bottle is gone I'm going to pick up 100ml decants of Iso e super, Javanol and Ambroxan for under $20 each.

It is my #1 most complimented fragrance. I don’t know what kind of magic is involved in this. I wear it to the gym and while working out and at work, I work in a dental office because it’s non offensive. At the gym random people compliment me on this. My kids who NEVER ever compliment my perfume also love this.
How many sprays do you use?
I'm just now getting into aventus, and while I absolutely adore the scent, it doesn't seem to last long on me if it's hot. If I'm inside and it's cool, it seems to last forever, I'm tempted to layer Aventus with this to see how it works out. Specifically using the batch 19P-11.

Great review, I got a sample from Barneys and I wore it to work one day.. everyone just wanted to come by me, the look you get like what is that?? I'm definitely getting a bottle before Christmas. It took me about a week and about 15ml of the bottle to start really picking it up but I really love it now and since then I can pick up ISO E super in other fragrances I really want to get molecule 04 soon!!

I have this in 30ml bottle bought in London, I enjoy it as it appears to be a nothing fragrance and yet I pick up compliments. Some days I just cant be bothered to think about wearing a fragrance so I put this on and if I decide to wear a fragrance I just put a scent over this and if not I just roll with the 01 and in my mind I no I'm wearing a fragrance even if I can't always detect it.

Not much. Don't believe the hype. It's just another note. It has no magical qualities. The only thing it does is smell like wood and that's it.
I just wear this yesterday and i get tons of compliments from my office colleagues. Not sure why but they like this on on me. I have backup bottle of Molecule 01 as well and must try the Molecule 04 now. Thanks for this video now curious about that 04

@@Gildhattie by itself 💯. It forms it’s own scent and it’s amazing and very modern. It stops people on their tracks. I always get compliments. It’s weird though some people can’t smell it on themselves so def sample before buying.

Ahhh, the mystery of Iso-E and Molecule 01. It, along with ambroxan and javanol, and the equivalent single molecule Escentric releases, perplex me.
And yep, the non-label, aftermarket raw molecules sold online vary. It depends in the brand and supplier of the product, along with the concentration the seller opts for. Some are too strong!
Yet I have gotten a lot of compliments, especially from the aftermarket ambroxan and javanol counterparts to the Escentric line. I really want to try Escentric's other actual, composed juices, though, with actual distinct notes involved.

Yes great idea with iso e, which is a great base, but you mention LL santal 33, and that is what I think is a good one.

06:21 you crazy kids. I have Molecule 01, I too did not smell it. Weirdly after washing shirt I wore later that week I smelled it on my shirt. Overtime I can kinda smell it indirectly. I want the Escentric version of 04.

I mix Encre Noir (ISO E super + Vetiver and musk) with an Aventus close which is mainly just pineapple, citrus and musk.. Makes for a super interesting Woody Citrus blend

I love this review but I want to smell my fragrances on me. I think that’s why I want to buy fragrances that has a sillage. I’m hesitant to buy this but do want to try.
The company has the pure molecule bottle and one with the molecule as the main note with a few more things
Wearing this layered with Evody Ambre Extreme (not so much) today. I have received compliments, but complaints too that I smelled like a cedar cabinet. It’s such an easy, airy, breezy “jeans and t-shirt” kind of scent. I don’t agree that it amps other fragrances though. I just smell my fragrance and then Molecule 01 on top.
People that think ISO E has some magical powers are buying into the marketing hype. There are no studies online to show anything like that.
It's just a chemical that smells like wood.

I've been trying to be able to smell this molecule for a long time and still can't. Molecule 1 smells like nothing to me. Diptyque Tam Dao has a lot of this in it apparently and I can't smell that fragrance at all either. It smells only faintly of lime to me. So sad because I wanted that to be my go to sandalwood fragrance, and I still haven't found one.

It's super addictive, I wear it regularly. I have mixed it with hedione which is the jasmine note in EAU Sauvage ( not to be confused with Sauvage).

great info: just bought 01, 03, 04 on Ebay for $30 but yes the bottles are not as cool. But i'm looking for something to amp up my 'spensive fragrances. So those bottles are already pretty.
Does this fragrance amplify a person's own scent? Because this could be very dangerous if your a funky person.
Not exactly. ISO E Super interacts with your skin in such a way that the more you wear it regularly, the stronger it performs overtime because your skin chemistry "adapts" to it. Now, in regards to the smell, the scent itself is a light "transparent" wood accord (think of a combination of sandalwood, musk, and ambroxan). The scent is virtually the same for everyone, but it varies slightly from person to person. Regardless, anyone will smell great wearing it.

I personally think it's a just woody note and nothing else.

According to NEZ issue 3, Molecule 01 is really 100% ISO E Super and perfumer’s alcohol. It’s not just notes marketing. However, the type of ISO E Super used is slightly different than what you or I can buy. Its distribution is regulated to perfume companies.

Light and airy? Hmmm. So what’s in the new Dior Homme that’s making me sick? I just assumed that it was the ISO but that’s definitely not the vibe that’s bugging me. I get heavy and cloying. Just a “too much” kind of vibe.
It is the ISO. They aren’t speaking to that side of the fragrance because it clearly doesn’t effect them that way personally. But when used in high amounts it can come across as very cloying, chemical, medicinal. And many people get headaches and migraines from it even if they can’t actually pick up the scent. So it sucks for those who have that reaction that it’s becoming so popular now.
I wish alison would have hit more on timbersilk and possibly mentioned sylvamber.. All in all good video.👍😁

DHP is definitely sexy but not sure I would consider it masculine. I kind of can't find those two words explaining a fragrances. That's a tough one. Like Aventus is masculine but I would never consider it sexy if that makes sense? It's certainly clean though. Maybe Oud Wood but then again I'm not sure it's sexy to me. Maybe it is sexy a bit. Try Acqua Vitae Forte and Acqua Universalis Forte. I find those to be sexy and slightly masculine but not quite.

How is something supposed to amp up another fragrance being an edt
It is about chemistry. When you smell something in the air that process is due to the molecules flying off of a surface and hitting your olfactory sensors inside your nose, which then analyzing what type of molecular structure interacted with them and sending signals to your brain accordingly.
Iso E-Super is one of the largest molecules used in perfumery. The large molecular structure makes it harder to trigger the olfactory sense immediately caused by its weight; not projecting as easy as the the other molecules used in top notes such as citruses, floral and fruit derived oils/synthetic molecules/accords (the same reason makes them disappear rather quicker). So it is not about the concentration but rather the molecular attributes of this ingredient.
The same thing applies also many of the base notes and ingredients/notes used as fixatives (such as resins, chemical fixatives and so on. For instance molecular structure of resins make them easier to stick on other molecular surfaces so this adds up to the longevity of the blends). It is also the same reason that a lot of people experience olfactory fatigue and become anosmic when wearing this fragrance because when your sense of smell has constantly been exposed to such a large molecule for such a long time it shuts itself to that particular smell for a while and ignores its existence, since there was no food to consume (which could be related to the scent you are smelling) or no danger to flee it is unnecessary for your nose to bug your brain with such a heavy duty all the time.
It is also the reason why people can smell you even from afar while you can't smell it on yourself (because however strange it may sound, molecules like this one literally glides through air).
Remember the time when people were warning about deodorants' negative effects on the environment? "How could such a small amount of thing we spray way beneath the sky pierce the ozone layer?" was a question often heard. I won't go into much detail but leave it with a short information to strengthen my point: the reason behind aerosols' negative effects on ozone layer was because it was utilizing a chemical molecule called chlorofluorocarbon. When this molecule released in the air the unique chemical character of it resulted with this molecule to not interact or react with any other molecule within the atmosphere until it bumped all these gas molecules and made its way through the ozone layer (which consists of 3 oxygen molecule and is highly unstable compared to O2 we breathe here on the ground level) and there it reacted, releasing one oxygen atom from ozone molecules and binding with it. Of course the aerosols weren't the biggest reason for this but it was the DuPont company who released tons of chlorofluorocarbons in the atmosphere from their factory chimneys.
Chemistry is rather interesting. It lifts many veils off of mysteries when you dive into it, or sometimes becomes destructive as much as productive... In the case of this ingredient, yes it helps amplifying some other fragrances, or contributing their longevity. However this brand charging the amount of money for this product is another story.
