I'm attending EMT classes now and it cost me 900.00 for tuition, 300.00 for my books, 50.00 application fee, 160.00 for uniforms and around 175.00 for the required vaccinations to take the course
    H1N1
    Flu
    hep B
    TB testing
    tetanus
    and all that fun stuff
plus required you to buy your own watch no digital and needs to have a leather band so it don't get snagged in a patients hair or break so easily. and you need leather boots black so with watch and boots that was 180.00 dollars roughly
and needed to pay 60.00 dollars for background check and finger prints
that's my school at least for EMT basic and can't forget the blood work and 8 panel drug screen.
I believe that's everything, I'm not complaining being a EMT is not only a choice but a calling and I'm happy with the choice and really the class pays for itself with the skills knowledge and rewarding career in the end

I have decided on taking the EMT course here in Florida. I just enrolled in the First Responders class which starts next week. The cost here at my local college was $330.00 and my books cost a total of 155.00. I'm excited to start a new career as a EMT & looking at going into paramedic school after the EMT course. I wanted to share the cost of my class since it was a big difference from what you've mentioned. Maybe it differs from state to state. I don't know, but you are correct that I have to have this First Responder class and CPR certification prior to starting the EMT Course. Thank you for sharing your video

TokinDaily, It is an awesome career. I’ll be 67 next month and I’m retired. It’s something I’ve wanted to do, so I enrolled in EMT training this spring. Hopefully, I’ll be celebrating graduation from the basic course and passing my EMT registry test shortly after my birthday. Ill take a Phlebotomy course this summer and my Advanced course begins next fall. All that will take one year. If I go on to become a Paramedic who is qualified to provide advanced emergency care including several specialized invasive interventions and the administration of certain oral and intravenous medications I will be training for one more year. However, I will probability be switching to scrub-tech school. If I was your age I would consider training as a surgical scrub tech. They work in the operating room setting up for surgery, handing the surgeon instruments, and generally assisting the surgeon in the same manner as a scrub nurse. The training takes about the same amount as a full Paramedic and the costs are similar. The difference is you will be working indoors in a highly controlled environment and unless you’re a firefighter AND Paramedic you will be making a higher salary as a scrub tech in most cases. You will also have at least one doctor and a circulating nurse there and while it is a team effort, they will be making the critical patient care decisions and directing the procedure from start to finish. The thought of providing advanced life-saving care in a harsh environment during a critical emergency is very appealing to me. Being in possession of that knowledge and applying it successfully to extricate a complete stranger from the jaws of death would be more fulfilling to me than just about anything I can imagine. But, the closer I come to understanding just what that involves and all the things that could, and frequently do, go wrong, the more daunting that becomes for me - particularly at my age. Hope you figure it all out and have a great working life. Don’t forget the military. Their training is the best.

I'm currently a junior in high school and I am taking an emt basic course next year through a community college career and technical education program. Basically the school district pays for the tuition and I only have to pay for the book. If you are currently in high school I highly recommend talking with your counselor an finding out if one of these programs are available to you. It's a huge opportunity that you should take full advantage of.

My minimum was $800 for online portion.....$1400 for separate hands on, $104(?) for the NREMT Exam. Then I went out of state for an accelerated portion (I know this was my choice), $850 hotel costs, driving + gas, then B,L,S each day. About $4000. My community college is about $3000+ however even in the summer (accelerated course) was from May - Aug. My numbers are from December 2022. Thank you.

Just to add, I started EMT in California in August.
    Textbooks: 200
    Tuition: 320+30 parking
    Vaccines (if needed): 0-80 depending
Admin Costs and required equipment: 150-200 depending
Optional equipment (good boots, pants, own equipment, etc.): Variable
Admin are things like background check, NREMT fee I believe, so on and so forth. Never regretted spending a penny.

You'll have to check with them. I'm sure that some will but here in San Diego County, the norm is that you have to pay for the training yourself. There may be grants available and/or financial aid too!

  • @andddrewsays
    @andddrewsays Před 11 lety

I would say this is half true. I did the private course route and it was around $1200 plus 3 months worth of gas money in a truck. Also you need to pay for the NREMT national test, become county accredited , state licensed 2 different live scans (DMV and state license), ambulance certified and than continuing education courses to renew. It adds up fast

CTC requires a BLS before entry into the course other than that no prerequisites. The book is 86.95$ and the course it self is 11373.95$...I start next month, wish me luck. :)

Just a few questions if you could please answer it would mean a lot! I live in CA as well, the LA area, hoping to start my EMT course training in a couple of months. What program or city college did you sign up at for the course? Were you required to to take a first responder course or just the CPR card? And also can you get the CPR card from any various health organizations or does it have to be from the American Red Cross b/c that's what I read in some websites?? Thank you!

I don't think so... check with your state's EMS office to find out for sure.

  • @LiquidCaffeine

Damn, I wish this information was accurate/still up-to-date.
Here in Tennessee there are only a few select schools that offer EMT training. One semester (for EMT-Basic) requires the CPR card ($40) and a MUCH, MUCH more expensive program cost than "$150-200". Attending a community college with a state discount (teacher's children get 10% off), the program cost falls between $3000 and $3500 from start-to-finish (Tuition, books, uniform, and licensure.) Those progressing to AEMT will have to fork out an additional $3500... and I don't even want to talk about Paramedic costs! (nearly 3 times that!)
May I ask what state it is that offers such cheap EMT training? At this rate I could buy a plane ticket, live in expensive dorms, and eat out on a regular basis and STILL save money on working towards my dream job of a being a Fire Medic.

Sexy Bob Just doing a quick search and it seems Volstate offers an EMT program for much less than you described. $2000 including textbooks, supplies, and NREMT Cert fees is pretty reasonable. You may want to look harder to see if there are other more affordable programs offered in your area.

That would be great... For those that live in West Tennessee! - I did extensive research for six months before I finally got accepted into Roane State.
If anyone Knoxville-or-further east wanted to attend Vol. State, they would have to commute over 3 hours every day of the week simply to GET to class. And most students can't put in 30 hours of driving per week in $ for an entire semester to have a cheaper tuition cost. :(

Sorry to "that guy" but very very bad information .... $300 ??? Haha ya right ... The private school in my area is $850 and that's just the emt basic class ... Not including state test ... The junior college costs $2200 but could be covered by financial aid for most people ... $300-$1000 ?? Unlikely
