  • A simple strategy that anyone can do to help prepare the church to face skeptical challenges and be ready to outreach to an unbelieving world. I've found these strategies to be effective. Integrating apologetics into normal church services is easy. Here is how to do it and some resources that will help!

I’m about to be a freshman in college, and this is the most helpful and needed video I’ve found like ever ever ever. Both my older siblings walked away from the faith when they hit the college years and I thank God for keeping me. While trying to share the gospel with my brother he hit me with a ton of questions and objections like all these mentioned in the video and more. I just didn’t know how to answer him, so I just cried and hugged him. I wish I would’ve watched this before. God has used it, though, as a motivator for me to learn apologetics and be able to have the answers next time! I cannot tell you how grateful I am for your online ministry, Mike Winger. All your amazing content is blessing the Church for real. God bless you, brother! 🙏🙏🙏🙏

This is a great video! Still stands up to the test of time.
As for why people repeat the same arguments over and over, Bonhoffer (Pastor who plotted to assassinate Hitler) make an excellent point on this stupidity or scripturally, foolishness. It doesn't seem you're arguing with the person themselves, but ideas and slogans they've been programmed to regurgitate. The person is enslaved to something akin to a DIFFERENT social contagion to keep the theme. Regarding some issues, they simply refuse to think and only repeat what they've been told.
An easy demonstration for this is politics, especially now when it has become so blatantly polarized. But it's always been so.

This is an older video and I haven't browsed the full comments. I may be repeating someone else. Even so, I wanted to respond to a particular idea you mentioned. You said the inoculation is effective "specifically against that virus." In that, the inoculation is better than nothing. However, an inoculation that is only effective against a single virus is less effective than teaching someone good health habits that will reduce their likelihood for contracting any disease and increase their overall ability to fight a disease whether they've specifically been inoculated or not.
Canned answers are inoculations, but the "disease" develops beyond the capacity of the canned answers to address. If all a pastor/church/etc. can do is provide the canned answers, it's better than nothing. However, the confidence provided can potentially be detrimental (just like telling someone a flu shot protects them can make them less cautious around others) and make them more susceptible to other "diseases." Whenever possible, provide not just the canned answers, but the understanding of why the answers work, why the challenges fail, and what the specific relationship between them is. Don't just teach "this is how X is wrong," teach "this is how you determine whether X is correct." Borrowing from an unknown source "Don't just teach people what to think, teach people how to think."

Where's the "proof" that a man rose from the dead?
I'd really like to see it.

    • @TheSkullReviews
      @TheSkullReviews Před 6 lety

I'm glad you asked, there is proof, eye witness testimony's for one, it is historically known Jesus was put to death publicly, speared to confirm it, then he was seen alive by a lot of people 3 days later, the apostles, the women, over 500 people and even a known enemy to the early Christians Saul who would later be better known as Paul. The letters Paul wrote to the churches were done at a time when everyone would have known it was fake if this hadn't taken place, he even states that most of the eye witnesses were still living at the time these letters were read to the early churches.
Even most secular historians who look at the evidence surrounding the resurrection account state the most logical conclusion based on the conviction of the apostles account and their willingness to die for it is that they believed he rose from the dead, before this event occurred the apostles were hiding from fear they would share the same fate as their teacher.
This is just a small sample, I encourage you to really dig into it for yourself, you can look at it from so many vantage points, here is a link to another way to put some perspective on it, this one looks at a few prophecy's czcams.com/video/Ud6pJaLLA8w/video.html

    • @TheSkullReviews

Yes I consider it the most important event in human history, God himself took on flesh, came as a lowly servant, suffered more than we can know and died to pay for our sins against him, to save his rebellious creation from what we rightfully deserved, his resurrection offers to us unimaginable promises, his spirt, forgiveness, mercy, everlasting life, a kingdom, true love and so much more.

Great video! Re: the stoning for homosexuality, I found an article online awhile back and haven't been able to track it down again, but it compared the OT laws to other ancient legal codes, as well as various OT passages to show that hyperbole was a common method to show the relative severity of a penalty with the assumption that it would be paid off. So for eg the surgeon who killed someone in a medical procedure, the penalty was to have his arm cut off. But that's impractical and in practice he would pay a fine commensurate with that penalty level. It explains why we see adulterers mentioned in OT (they weren't actually stoned...) and there's a passage where it indicates that murder is the one crime where the guilty could not be redeemed by paying a fine; that death charge for that was for real. This seems to fit well with NT recognition that the wages of sin is death but we are redeemed with sufficient payment. Since I'm having trouble finding this article again, are you up on the argument? Does it have credence? It seems credible but I don't want to bring it up to a skeptic if it's been debunked.

Pastor Mike seems like a lovely guy, and he is manifestly sincere, but most of what he has to say is a load of nonsense, and worse, what he has to say will have little on no traction if the person he is trying to ‘inoculate’ is faced with a sceptic who knows what they’re talking about. Mike’s sideways shuffle on the question, as he phrased it, “Shouldn’t a sincere Buddhist or Hindu go to heaven?” is a case in point. His phrasing is benign, and I presume that’s no accident. The question could be more fairly asked, “Should a sincere Buddhist or Hindu who has lived an otherwise blameless life spend eternity being tortured in a lake of fire solely because they followed the religion of their parents and their community?” Mike goes off into some drooling irrelevant nonsense about how Adolf Hitler and suicide bombers were or are sincere, and we all really need Jesus, and he never answers the underlying question - which an knowledgeable atheist will almost certainly pose to Mike’s hypothetical young Christian college freshman - to wit, “would a loving and fair god impose an infinite punishment on someone who committed a finite transgression?” Mike doesn’t answer this question, and in fact ducks it altogether, even though he clearly knows that is the real question.
His ducking of the slavery question is similarly sly; he comes up with one of verses from the Bible that would seem to imply that God and Moses, and thus the Bible, condemn slavery, when that is contrary to the truth - read Ephesians 6:5-8, Leviticus 25:44-46, Exodus 21:20-21 (a charming passage on how badly you may beat a slave); and my favorite, Numbers 31:17-18, where Moses directs his war captains to kill all the male children of the Midianites and the women who had had sex, but to keep the virgin females for themselves. Charming. Mike seems to have missed these passages, where the Bible clearly approves of slavery, sometimes very nasty forms of slavery.
These sorts of problems crop up throughout. Mike shoots down easy, carefully phrased strawman questions, and doesn’t confront the tough ones, because he has no real answers.

Hi Mike, I don't expect a single video comment to change your mind because you're deeply invested in your mission ... but there may be a time when you realize the suspicious changes made to Torah to prove Jesus ... as you say, "Greek words make up your New Testament."
I am a Noahide, a believer in God and a challenged follower of Torah. The Jewish mission is not done nor usurped. We gentiles can participate or get in the way for there's no other way to interpret God's eternal word except as eternal. True, Levitical law was not meant for Gentiles but for Israelites in Israel otherwise they can't have a Holy nation ... and they have great struggles getting there, as God said they would.
How we KNOW the Messiah hasn't arrived yet is proven in this video and all similar videos that are still trying to prove/defend Jesus. The Bible says with the coming of Messiah the entire world will be filled with the knowledge of God ... and that hasn't happened and won't happen by argument and/or scriptural sleight-of-hand.
We're living in the End of Days ... but all we know is the (unnamed) Messiah will be at minimum, a Torah-observant married Jewish man with a family.

I will therefore continue to suspend any acknowledgment as to the existence of gods until sufficient credible evidence is introduced.
