"Man this counter sucks!"
Completely demolishes boss using counter without understanding why.
I mean its kinda mindflooding how it works, especially with freeze causing some wonky stuff
lol it wasn't even counter, it was lock. Lock makes her play her dice in order for the amount of lock on her, which means if he had two lock she would never have gotten to use the shield, since it required two dice. On the other hand, counter is effectively lock but it targets dice values rather than a quantity of dice.
Can I get some first grade instructions? I kinda get how 2 lock screws the shield for the boss but I don't understand how it's useful otherwise
@@CopperAirplane You could counter 5 or 6 (makes enemy use this die first), and since shield bash requires max 4 and tower shield requires 2 dice she can't do anything
@@CopperAirplane In addition to what Faller said, the damage on her attack increases based on her current shield, which is wiped at the start of every turn. So by locking even one dice, her damage output is basically cut by 1/3rd as she has to attack before she shields every turn.
For all the smack NL talked about how useless Lock was, it completely countered the boss.
And naturally he didn't realize.
For real my man
to defend him a little, every enemy was not really hurt much by counter. But yea it makes me feel bad that NL didnt really figure out why he just completely destroyed to boss.

Against Aoife your counters were forcing her to use a single die first, so she was unable to play tower shield before sabre.

Northernlion : counter is useless! Enemy that can only use evens appears! NL : FORCES IT TO USE EVENS INSTEAD OF ODDS.

You use the new counter to lock them from using specific equipment. So you could lock the firemans odd dice and if its rolled it cant be use then he has to just skip the turn.
Isn't that what just locked down the boss that one turn? Like she had to use a 5 first, but she needed to use 2 dice at once (but only had 1 five) or a "max 4", so she just couldn't do anything there. Seems very situational (enemy needs non-versatile abilities) and requires luck (they need to roll the countered die) and needs a good planning (which NL, eh, kind of lacks), but when it does it can just completely lock out an enemy.
@@fallouthirteen It's not really too rare to find an enemy that only works with odds/evens or needs multiple dice, so if you lock/force them to play a specific roll, its really easy to prevent a lot of enemies from working at all.
But you're right, it is somewhat situational and requires a bit of luck, but man when it works, it freaking works.
@@fallouthirteen But I think you can combine it with freeze for maximum effect. For example since you freeze that last boss, you know it cannot roll a 6, so locking a 5 is great. and because the boss has a lot of dice, you are almost certain it will actually hit

Preferably with enelle's son on screen
Counter is good because you can force the enemy to use their garbo dice first on one use equipment. So for example if you force the enemy to use a 1 on their non-static damage equipment, then they're only doing 1 damage if that makes sense.
I dont know if it is normally good because it seems some enemies can play their dice in any order usually. But it seems that it shuts down enemies that need to do an order or multiple dice very hard. I wont say that counter looked great outside the final boss.
NL, it helps to read, like, anything the game presents you with.
Also helps to have a build that steamrolls the boss to an extreme degree.
Maybe I should play games like NL too, just don't read descriptions of effects and be surprised, I'm sure I wouldn't tilt by not knowing to what I died
The thing is, only NL can get away with it because he's got NL Luck™.

The best use of counter is countering dice they can't use at all. For example, Fireman can only use evens. If you counter on an odd number and he rolls that number, then he can't do anything at all because he has to use the unusuable die first

I already thought this game was incredible but the way they change up the systems and conditions for winning with every character makes this game a 10 outta 10 for me
And theres literally infinite possibilities for improvement which is also a huge plus

To explain the boss fight, Locking turned out to be amazing on that fight. Since Tower Shield needs two dice to activate, the Lock prevented Aoife from using it first, making her unable to deal damage.
Does he ever bother to read what the status effects do?

Everyone talking about the title and the boss but can we also discuss how upgrading candle is almost completely useless because of spatula? If you want a 2 to be a 6 then just -1 and flip. Same thing as flip then +1 with upgraded candle but could upgrade something else instead
For the record, he would have killed sneezy a turn earlier regardless of what he rolled. But he didn't spatula a 3 😴

Wait, this boss is literally just a punching bag in this episode, shield expires at the start of the turn.

I really think a lot of the equipment in this episode is much more interesting than the stuff from previous episodes.

It's not a "bonus character" exactly, it is like a final chapter with the big boss at the end. And as someone else said, you need to beat episode 6 with all characters.
