I took DHEA for my diminishing ovarian reserve but I stopped after taking it just before my menstrual cycle. I believe that by taking DHEA, my whole bleeding episode was missed, but then I took opk's to monitor my ovulation cycle and I ovulated like normally. Havent taken it since. I'll be testing my DHEA serum level soon, but I dont think its low by that experience. Thanks for the video Dr.Sklar
I started supplementing DHEA when unsuccessfully trying to get pregnant at age 38. It took a year but after two miscarriages, I started taking DHEA, Vitamin D (levels were low), COQ10, and other supplements to support fertility health. I only saw a fertility doctor to get some labs on my egg quantity, fsh and enstrogen levels which were all optimal and normal. I was able to conceive naturally and I am now 10 weeks pregnant! I am now 40 years old and my due date will be in March 2021. Keeping my fingers crossed everything bodes well!
Waoh this is encouraging,, I am 45, on DHEA 50mg, Coq10 400 mg, vitamin D 5000ui, and ranferon capsules 800 mg. Do you think I should add anything else?
I have a very important story about DHEA that probably everybody that watches this video should read. Granted I was not over 40 then but still an important story. I was 35-36 when I used dhea because no matter how many ivf cycles I go through I was not getting any viable eggs (forgive any wrong terminology) and the cycles get cancelled prematurely. I had extreme stress then (from family to have children) and job and other things. On top of that I was completely shattered when the doctor says nonchalantly and carelessly ‘we will be lucky if we can get one embryo out of you ever’. So I poured over the internet (2012) and found a clinic in NY that has huge amount of success with dhea in women over 40. I talked about it to my doctor (famous ivf clinic in NJ) and she and her team dismissed it and said it won’t work. I kept nagging her about it and she again carelessly said well try if you want, it won’t do anything... try with 25 mg and for a month. But the NY clinic had success with 75mg for 3 months. So even though they kept forcing me to make the next appointment in a month, I vanished and told them I will be back in 3 months. I took micronized form 75 mg for 3 months and then started the treatment. It went well (at least for me), they retrieved 8 eggs out and 4 became embryos. For some personal reasons, I had them saved and did not use to get pregnant then. After my case, those doctors at the clinic calmly started used it on their other patients. I started using DHEA again recently. I am in early 40s but look like I am 28 or 30. Not saying it is just dhea but it might be helping. I had some acne at that time but now I don’t get any acne. Hopefully somebody will find this helpful.
@@claire4974 hello I did not go to that NY clinic. I found them and their research online when I was doing my research. I believe it is ‘Center for Human Reproduction’. You seem Indian (I am too). DHEA is what worked wonders for me!! I have a AMH of 0.28 (32 years old) and had 2 miscarriages. After taking DHEA 75mg for 8 weeks I noticed that my PMS symptoms disappeared - boob pain for 2 weeks and 3-4 days of spotting (which tells you that something could be wrong with your eggs). Then we conceived first try! I am currently pregnant with a baby boy :)
@persona coud you please tell me what your DHEA and DHEAS levels were before and after starting to take DHEA if possible? As the levels in the laboratory tests are very wide. Should they be around 300 μg/dl? Or better even higher?
I am 41, diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis 2 years ago... had unexplained infertility for ten years prior to the diagnosis. Most recent AMH results were .1 and have DOR. I started taking DHEA (micronized) about 3 months ago, still not pregnant but plan to try IVF. However I have noticed my CM is much better and opk’s are now showing a strong surge. I am still hopeful for a natural pregnancy! 🥰
I was diagnosed with very low AMH at age 33 and was unsuccessful conceiving naturally and through IUI. However, I later took DHEA twice and both times ended up with successful spontaneous pregnancies in less than three months at age 36 & 38.
Ziera Ali I was also prepping for IVF, a d was giving myself 3 months to take but became pregnant naturally after a little over a month of taking DHEA. This happened with both my babies (2 & 4 months). I took MICRONIZED DHEA... the amazing formulas brand from Amazon.
BlessedTress Hi, sorry to bombard with more questions but did you test before knowing how much you needed to take and how often? The fertility clinic I go to recommends taking it but never mentioned testing to check levels first.
I started to take daily 75 mg of DHEA a month ago and coq10 (600-800 mg), as my doctor prescribed. I'm 43 year old and this month I have noticed an improvement in sex drive and after ovulation my breasts are really sore, as it used to be when I was younger. Also, after 40 my folicular phase got short, but this month it gained 2 additional days (it can make a significant difference for egg quality and development). I definely can see that it is making a difference and at least it feels that things are working as they used to... Maybe I'm not pregnant, but now it feels that I have a chance. Fingers crossed. I recommend finding a doctor who is willing to use DHEA as part of the treatment.
I tested my dhea-s and it was already very high, so I didn’t take it. I took coq10 Ubiquinol, Vitamin d + k2, prenatal. I just had a baby at 45 years old. If it would’ve been low, I would’ve taken it, but before I tested and I took it a couple times, it caused muscle pain and emotional stress probably because I was already too high.
Thank you Dr. Marc for this video! I am only 28 with low DHEA, but my ovarian reserve is normal. The low DHEA resulted in low testosterone as well. This helped me understand I’m on the right track! It can happen to young ppl too, but testing first is a MUST! Would never have known there was a problem if I didn’t go to a doctor first!!

Thanks for this video, I almost started taking this after watching lots of couples on CZcams have success in pregnancy. I am 40 , and have only just started trying to get pregnant,… literally 1 month in. Your videos are truly the best that I have seen. Thanks
Marc, thank you so much for your videos! I'm so grateful for them. I started taking dhea 25 mg x3x per day. I started one week at just 25 mg per day, upped to 50 mg the next week, and now staying at 75. Also taking COQ10, hyalauranic acid, and 75mg of aspirin. Have an intermittent fasting regimen. I feel great!
I follow exactly the same way. However I’m a bit worried about if diet.. I also feel good and even lost 2.5kg recently. My only concern is if it effect my ivf treatment.,
I'm currently taking DHEA. I got approval from my diabetic endocrinologist to take it since there was some concern for people with diabetes. She gave me approval and said it can help me with my blood glucose. I'm hopeful that it will based on the success stories. This is my second week.
Great video. I overdosed myself taking DHEA supplements. I had the worst headache ever and I think even my blood pressure went up so I stopped taking it bcs I knew it was the only thing that could created that. Thank you for the video 🙏
I have taken dhea for the last 6 months as the FS put me on it. I don't know what bloods they taken before recommending. But I just turned 40 and it was said to take this. My amh is low as well. Unfortunately through IVF the embroy does not stick. So after a few implantation failures I've taken my health into my own hands and I've seen a fertility nutritionist who looks at my whole fertility wholistically. She asked me to do my dheas blood test and it was very high. Now doing some more testing to see if has effected any other vitamin depletion. Re testing testosterone and oestrogen after 1 mth being off dhea. Dr Marc I am super thankful for your videos as you have given me the courage to seek out medical help to support my fertility. You have given me hope that one day I will be holding my baby.
Could be interesting if you could talk about DHEA for men as women are not the only element in the equation. A lot of fertility problems in a couple come from men and I think it is not sufficiently mentionned and dealt with properly. Thanks for your video !
I seem to be insulin resistance so it’s hard to lose the weight. I’m 48 now and trying to kick the good food and sugar habits but they keep coming back. I’m giving myself 3 more months to lose 30 pounds as a goal right now. That’s 10 pounds a month to see if I can do it. Thank you for the inquiry.
Watched a fertility doctor (Dr Gleicher) from NYC say free and total testosterone should be in the higher 2/3 and that some women with pcos who are thin go from high amh to then suddenly normal periods and have an increased drop in androgens once there get older but their body still remembers the old high testosterone and they need DHEA. Fertility dr didn't even test for DHEA. I got my gp to test for all the extra things after watching you so I don't waste time. Thank you.
Thank you. I've taken DHEA on and off for about 1 year. I have stopped it during stimulation meds on my 3 previous IUI cycles as to not conflict with letrozole. I have now been on it for about 3 months straight. Hoping to reach optimal levels for egg quality. I am 43 with low AMH. My only side effect has been oily skin and hair, but no acne or other issues.
How did things turn out for you? I'm almost 44 wit a similar AMH and thinking about if I should continue DHEA. I started with 25mcg and my DHEA is slightly elevated above normal at 12.62umol and testosterone at 1.67pmol. We aren't really big on DHEA in the uk but I can't unread what I've read and at 44 you need to be on your game! Maybe dr Marc knows! xx

Thanks doctor for posting a video about DHEA. What are your thoughts about L-arginine? These are the 2 supplements I have been researching for a few weeks.
Can your timing be any better Dr. Sklar? My Acupuncturist just started me on DHEA. We're starting with 25 mg with the intention of increasing the doses to 75 mg. I'm 33 and I've been trying to get pregnant for years. I have a history of uterine fibroids but got a Myomectomy done last year. Hopefully this supplement will work for me.
DHEA is great,it does wonders to my body in a very positive way.Harder muscles, stronger bones, high libido, thickened beard, more hairs growing up on chest and legs, bigger, fuller muscles, deeper voice, better mood and sleep.50mg on a daily basis.I reommend for all men especially over 40.
@marksklar Hello DrMarc, thank you for very informative videos. Could you please tell me what would the levels of DHEA-S and DHEA test results must be that you would start thinking of adding a DHEA supplementation at the age of 41? Thank you!
i Will go under ivf soon, i am 41 years old nearly. What dose do you recomend please? Shall i start lover dose please? I had previous failed ivf, i did not used any dhea, but i like to use this time. Any advice please
I have been taking DHEA but on and off , I take 4 weeks before IVF and start my treatment. I have seen some improvement interns numbers of egg , but not a lot
My DHEA is 69 per my blood draw! My doctor said i need to be at 200 also. I have PCOS so AMH is high but i am not ovulating regularly and have had 2 miscarriages (6 weeks and 17 weeks) My doctor recommended DHEA 25mg, does that sound right?? I have low cortisol also, and my testosterone is in the normal range.
When asking for lab work to see find what my DHEA Levels are, what are some other levels should I ask for? It seems like my fertility dr is only looking at AMH, vit D and thyroid, but I feel like they should be looking at other things. I have one egg left to transfer but I want it best opportunity for it to be successful. Thanks
My dhea is 5.45. It is saying it is normal range. I am 39 and struggling for years, should i use it for low dose, example 25 mg per day. Can you give me any advice please? I always love watching your videos, you are absolutly star, xxx
This was a fantastic video - very easy to understand and informative. Thank you! I am 40 years old and my husband and I have been ttc for a year (we have 3 other children who were naturally conceived fairly easily when I was 25, 29, and 33). In the past year I have gotten pregnant twice and had early miscarriages (chemical pregnancies) both times. I recently had an updated hormone panel done and my DHEA came back at 60.3 and my testosterone is less than 2.5. My progesterone and estradiol levels are within range and my AMH is 1.35. My functional medicine doctor has prescribed 25 mg of DHEA every other day to start and will be testing my levels again in 8 weeks. Does this dosing seem sufficient to help with my low testosterone and DHEA levels? Thanks for your time!
Great video and advice. I have searched the web and found a test that can be done at home with a finger prick? Is this reliable or should I go to a clinic?
I have POF and recently started taken DHEA recommendation from a friend. I currently take 25 mg. My Gyn did not test levels so this information is good. I have an upcoming appointment with a fertility specialist and will ask them to test my levels. Should i continue to take the 25mg since i have POF or wait until i test?
Dear Dr. Sklar. Thank you so much for your videos. I took 75mg dhea (in one dose the evening) during 100 days as my doctor told me to, but after doing own resesrch and testing I went down to 25 mg/twice a day sometimes only 1 a day. My dhea is 97,0 µg/dl.. since I did the blodtest without aaking my doctor I dont know if it is a normal amount? Could you please let us know what are the standard levels of dhea please 🙏? All the best.from.Europe.
you want to be at the upper end of normal, your 'normal' depends on age. He mentions at least over 180 in the video. Average for age 30 to 39 is 31 to 228ug/dl

I have two kids from my first marriage who are now healthy 12 and 14 years old boys. But I been now 7 years in a new marriage and we been trying to conceive without any success. My husband tested himself so did I and it seems everything is ok with us. I recently was recommended by a friend to see a natural digestive Heath practitioner and lymphatic therapist. After massaging my uterus into the right place she proscribed me DHEA 25mg 2x day and for my husband 50mg a day. I’m 33 and my husband is 35 years old.
I started to take it 2 weeks ago. first day of my period and my period took longer than usual. my doctor didn't tell me how much I should take a day. I take 50mg. we are contemplating to have IUI.
Hi Dr. You're positivity and e courageous videos was key not to loose my hope. I did the test and my provider prescribe me 75 MG per day. After 1 year I'm pregnant naturally for 3 days as i know . I'm 40 now and my provider was not clear to continue taking dhea or not she said taking prenatal, coq10 after pregnancy is fine she checked my earlier result and said my hormon level is normal take it or not depends on you becouse there are not complete evidence on the research. My question is should I keep taking dhea or I have to stop it after pregnancy? Thanks impatiently waiting for your reply.
I had taken it for 2 months on the third month when I went to do my ovulation test my estrogen levels showed up for 5 days before I had a peak ovulation on the 6th day. So I think it increased my estrogen levels extremely so no doubt I didn't get pregnant that month either. So I stopped taking it the middle of last month this month I took my ovulation test and my estrogen levels only showed for 2 days then I went into Peak ovulation so I don't know if they helped me with the quality of my eggs but I can definitely tell you that it did not help me get pregnant.
Hi Dr. I'd like to ask a question. I did have my testosterone checked and the level is 34 dl . I know it's in the normal range .I'm 38 and I'm also using nuvaring and comming off in about 2 months to start trying. Would this level have come down possibly from being on birthcontrol and would it be safe to take the micronized Dhea I ordered? Wondering you're opinion.

I'm 45 this month and have 🐝 taking DHEA for about aa year now. I still have to lose weight before I try to get pregnant again 😃
How are things going?
Thank you.
My pleasure
I'm 43 trying to get pregnant, what should I eat to increase my fertility
I just started taking it. 25mg x 3 per day to supplement COQ10. Will let you know how it goes!
How did it go?
@@tacitenorio Still going.
@@heidicox7252 any updates?
Please update us
Hi, any updates? I was prescribed the same dosage 25mg 3 times per day along with COQ10.
I take 50mg. I tested low for dhea and my amh is .33. It has been two months and I actually feel great on it.
Awesome
How old are you dear Cristina if I my ask?
Did you get pregnent?
Can i Ask what your amh level was?
@@alliesme my AMH was 0.29.
@@jenniferdevolder4248 thanks for sharing 🙏 do you know if the DHEA has helped increase your AMH at all?
After three months of DHEA did you had more egg or better quality egg
How did things turn out for you? I'm almost 44 wit a similar AMH and thinking about if I should continue DHEA. I started with 25mcg and my DHEA is slightly elevated above normal at 12.62umol and testosterone at 1.67pmol. We aren't really big on DHEA in the uk but I can't unread what I've read and at 44 you need to be on your game! Maybe dr Marc knows! xx
I am so depressed I really need help and guidance in getting preganant at 48 but it’s very expensive everywhere not affordable for everyone

You are simply amazing Doc, thank you for this educational information, very insightful. God bless you
It’s really help my testerone hormone is low , I will do this test
Thanks doctor for posting a video about DHEA. What are your thoughts about L-arginine? These are the 2 supplements I have been researching for a few weeks.
L arginine is good but it can make dormant herpes (eg cold sores) flare up so if you've had herpes before be aware of this.
Hi Doc, you explained very well, and your voice is very nice to hear,
Can your timing be any better Dr. Sklar? My Acupuncturist just started me on DHEA. We're starting with 25 mg with the intention of increasing the doses to 75 mg. I'm 33 and I've been trying to get pregnant for years. I have a history of uterine fibroids but got a Myomectomy done last year. Hopefully this supplement will work for me.
good luck
I also had a myomectomy done last year and trying to get pregnant.
can I ask what your level of DHEA or DHEAS were that you were recommended to start taking it? Thank you and good luck!
Sweet man! Have you done any bloodwork before, during or after? I’m curious to know it’s effect on LH and FSH specifically. Thx
Thanks for the info es really good for me all this about DHEA!!!

I m mrs Nabeel. I m using dhea medicine since 1 month. My one cycle of ivf failed due to low amh.
Hi doc, what if you have premature ovarian failure menses at all what will be the side effect here as regards to the amenorrhea you talked about.
My DHEA is 69 per my blood draw! My doctor said i need to be at 200 also.
I have PCOS so AMH is high but i am not ovulating regularly and have had 2 miscarriages (6 weeks and 17 weeks)
My doctor recommended DHEA 25mg, does that sound right?? I have low cortisol also, and my testosterone is in the normal range.
I am taking Natrol Dhea mood &stress 25mg and Coq10 Ubiquinol 100mg active form by Nature Made
I have took it for a little but actually forgot all about it until I saw this video
Thanks
Thank you daktari!
Been on 25mg dhea 2.5 months since blood test showed low dhea. skin is more glowing was abit dry previously, no negative effects yet. Ttc @35
Has it helped
@abdiikar577 I did have a baby girl but only after starting NAC and stopped the dhea
Really surprised you didn't mention the risk of increased sex-related cancers from taking DHEA (unless I missed it). What are your thoughts?
It should be take only before to get pregnant after that you should stop
Sir i am 46 year i wanna but i am menopause please tell me about this . I take dhea co q 10 vit e folic acid
thank you for this amazing video. i wan to ask can DHEA help to lower FSH level.
My dhea is 5.45. It is saying it is normal range. I am 39 and struggling for years, should i use it for low dose, example 25 mg per day. Can you give me any advice please? I always love watching your videos, you are absolutly star, xxx
I’m over 40 with Low AMH and a poor responder. My testosterone is elevated at 58ng and DHEA is 108mcg. Is it safe to supplement with just 25mg daily?
Will this help if your fallopian tubes are blocked? If not, please suggestions are welcome.
Very nice sir thanks for the information....and excellent explanation.
How can have my period back and to get pregnant. I'm Nigerian base in Port Harcourt. I will like to work with you. Thanks.
My dhea-s is 232, 0 ug/dl, I am 40 years old, irregular cycles and perimenopause. Should I drink dhea?
Great video and advice. I have searched the web and found a test that can be done at home with a finger prick? Is this reliable or should I go to a clinic?
It should be ok. I give a link for testing in the description as well.
Mind to share the test kits you used?
Yes m taking ...started one month back....38 years old....amh 0.08....
I have the same amh 0.08
I have POF and recently started taken DHEA recommendation from a friend. I currently take 25 mg. My Gyn did not test levels so this information is good. I have an upcoming appointment with a fertility specialist and will ask them to test my levels. Should i continue to take the 25mg since i have POF or wait until i test?
How is this working for you ? I am same as you pls let me know
Dr. Can you told me which DHEA o got?
Dear Dr.
Hello, I am 22 years old and have a little bit low testosterone levels. My doctor gave me 25mg DHEA of Bronson's. However, I am a little skeptical if I should use it.

Hello there! Did it work for you?
What’s the normal range for your DHEA levels supposed to be
Mine was over 480
Is DHEA also good in case of oligospermia ? And in which dose per day ????
I started to take it 2 weeks ago. first day of my period and my period took longer than usual. my doctor didn't tell me how much I should take a day. I take 50mg. we are contemplating to have IUI.
Doc,is it possible to take DHEA supplement alone?
Hello doctor how are you doing?
What is the best quality dhea for fertility there so many out there it’s hard to knw which one to buy
Stop dhea
I had taken it for 2 months on the third month when I went to do my ovulation test my estrogen levels showed up for 5 days before I had a peak ovulation on the 6th day. So I think it increased my estrogen levels extremely so no doubt I didn't get pregnant that month either. So I stopped taking it the middle of last month this month I took my ovulation test and my estrogen levels only showed for 2 days then I went into Peak ovulation so I don't know if they helped me with the quality of my eggs but I can definitely tell you that it did not help me get pregnant.
Thank you for sharing. That is why I mention that it is not for everyone and you should be testing your levels prior to taking it.
Hello I'm thinking about taking dhea I'm 38 and trying for three years now and can't get pregnant
I tested for testosterone and is 0.22 so the doctor said is kind of low. I'm considering taking DHEA. Should I?
I don't take it but definitely thinking about it for pcos.
I would be careful with PCOS
What if your dhea is 298 out of 300 but doc still prescribed 25 mg for poi. Its making my hair so greasyyyyy im 35
Never have taken Dhea.
What if DHEA give me irregular cycle I take 50% should I stop? the thing is the bills I bought is 50%.
Thank you
My dheas is 260, should i take dhea supplement as my doctor prescribed it to me?
