I feel like we need to get a documentary series about the toy sculptures. They don’t get enough credit. I mean what they are doing is art. Example: it would be really cool to see who sculpted/worked on The Real Ghostbusters toy line. I really enjoy small details it just gives you something else to learn about a brand/fandom that you love.
the tool for scaling down/up the prototype models is called a pantograph . it is also used by masons to mark out writing and is comon in other trades as well. you can find 3d printable versions on thingiverse f you want to try it out.
I think one of the first applications of it was in The mechanical Turk faux automaton from the 1700's interesting reading!
@@NectarineSoup the pantograph was possibly used in ancient rome, I think it dates back at least to 200AD

Action Figures Authority (AFA) grandes depends not only of the conditions of the figure, it also depends of the cardboard and plastic bubble, for that reason it’s very difficult to have a perfect grade 10 level (there’s only few lucky figures with that grade known on the world), to have that there must be a perfect figure whit out paint issues and well printed and not bend cardboard, a clear not scratched bubble glued perfectly on site. Practically must be a new factory production, a couple figures on the whole wave have reunited those elements, and when they’re sent to the stores probabilities of find one of them get down

Yes me too...when i was a kid this Falcon was in a Comicbook store in Germany Berlin on the ceiling I would be interested in what he is worth

He seems to have no idea that the Star Trek range of Turtles was actually a product that was brought to market.
Yeah I distinctly remember that line. Leo was Kirk, Donny was Spock, Raph was Bones, and Mikey was Scotty. That said, the version they have there with the wrap tunic is indeed only a prototype as the released one used the standard uniform.
GreyHulk2 yes and no! Those figures shown were different form the actual production figures. If you look they are similar but not the same . So these figures for some reason were changed. So the production figures will have test shots and first shots of those.

Some of the prices on production stuff on that site is laughable.
How is an unopened original toy not a 100? Would a collector want something thats "better" than the original?
Unopened doesn't mean that the ravages of time and space haven't worn down the box and/or the figures inside. Preservation and conservation are really, really hard to do even by professionals and in some cases depending on the environment or materials it's nearly impossible.
Sun bleaching, moisture damage, friction, plasticizer vaporization, etc.
EDIT: Also production line inconsistencies. Some "new" objects are better representations of the intended result than others.
ZeikJT - for arguments sake - lets say someone wanted to aprize a new toy... what then? If only to get the 100-rating, the first toy to get a 100 would be a collectible in itself... :)
@@stefanfrisk9598 People do buy new toys in the hopes that they can preserve and later sell them. Their risk is in figuring out what will have desirability and high resale value.
That being said, I've never appraised anything so I don't know what the appraisal companies would accept and/or decline :)
I wondered how do they even verify what's inside if it's not been opened? It could have parts missing or damaged and just because it's taped up with old tape doesn't mean much in regards to the contents.
Honestly that's why I find toy grading and comic book grading to be kind of a sham. There is never any item that they would give a 100 to making that grade meaningless. Even if you took the item straight from the manufacturer with no signs of wear it would still not get a 100 grade. I know why they don't do it. If they gave a 100 grade people would be there to pick it apart but if no item can ever get 100 then why bother having the grades go up to that?

Collectable is the more common British spelling, but collectible is an acceptable variant of the same word. Having looked it up online, there doesn't seem to be much difference between the definitions of either word.
@@TheKnightsShield Collectables is the correct spelling of the word if you are writing in English.
I dare say collectibles is acceptable if you don't know the correct spelling but then you could apply the same logic to all miss spellings.

I'm British English, so, naturally I'd use collectable, but that's not to say that collectibles is wrong in any way, shape or form, it just means a slightly different thing.
Basically, collectable means something that can be collected, such as tickets for a flight or train and collectibles is used for the same as in this video, something that is old and/or sought after.
