  • 2015 cruze 1.4L turbo.
    ▪Same procedure for Sonics with the 1.4L as well
    I had check engine light on: P0128; coolant thermostat.
    ●What my car was doing: 1°turned ac off, 2°my temperature gauge wasn't working it was always on cold. 3° My fan would kick in immediately after turning on my car and wouldn't stop running always on high like if the engine was overheating.
    •Thermostat I bought is from napa has lifetime warranty because I knew it would fail once again( didn't know it would be so soon 8k miles after) Napa thermostat# - NBH34709
    * Original AC DELCO Thermostat part# is: 131-180 amzn.to/2M7nbr5
    Tools you'll need:
    - E10 (torx or star) socket to get the thermostat screws out
    E10 itself: amzn.to/2r2jWd5
    - set of the external female torxs: amzn.to/38Zu2Nc
    -Flathead screwdriver or 8mm and 10mm sockets
    -1/4 ratchet with some extensions if needed.
    Antifreeze I used was: Dexcool Prestone 50/50
    My car is at 72.5k miles right now bought it at 40k and this is the second thermostat I have replaced 😁
    Torque for the thermostat would be (7-10 lb/ft pounds) but remember you're screwing them in into plastic so I would just do them by hand and then do a half a turn on them with your ratchet and you'll be fine.

    My Cruze runs around 200- 225. I fixed mine by flushing all the coolant and adding only concentrate without diluting it.

    The Cruze has an Air bleed screw on the top of the radiator. It is the highest point in the cooling system.

    First check for OBD2 P217 code and erase. If your car threw P217 code it will stay even if problem was fixed!

    Can a bad thermostat cause too much pressure in the engine as soon as you start the vehicle

    Sometimes it's just a fluke. Use a scantool to erase and see if it comes back on before going through this process. Codes or no codes, a scantool will erase this.

      my cause was from a leaky turbo return, which now caused frothy sludge in our intake manifold and what looks like black crud dripping into the turbo

    I did this and it's not as easy as this video makes it seems. It turns out it was a temp sensor on the block. 12 dollars at olriallys.

    NOTE YOU CANNOT USE ANY OTHER ANTIFREEZE BUT DEXCOOL. You can blow the seals of your water pump, and mess everything up!

      Dexcool sucks big time but it is the one I use on my chevy cars smh

      That is a fallacy I don't know who told you that I'm an automotive master technician that is completely untrue they make Universal coolant that can go in anything and that includes in place of Dex Cool seals are the same in your Chevy engine as they are in a Chrysler or Ford product there's nothing special about them most of the aftermarket uses all the same seals and gaskets hence Universal coolant

    Was your fan super loud when this happened and temp gauge not working?

    • @luigifix2120
      @luigifix2120  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes it turns to the highest level. Basically acting like if the engine was actually overheating but it wasn't.

      Mine acts the same way like is overheating but is not and already change thermostat fan and sensor but is still the same

      @@edercampos2077 yeah man I've heard that sometimes it's the fan relays that are bad or just the fans themself that are bad .
