I feel like every form of Arts and/or entertainment tends to have 2 reigning stars at a time. Usually when the smoke clears and dusts settles decades later, one emerges as the GOAT, and the other one is just the other guy. Usually the GOAT does edgy work and the other does pleasing enough schtick that's ultimately dated and just pandering to whomever will pay the most to see him.
Whatever I think of Dave Chapelle personally, he's undeniably Richard Pryor to Dane Cook's Gallagher.

Dane had HUGE big budget movies with other stars in 06, 07, and 08. While Dave left for Africa in early 2005 and only dead sporadic random comedy shows until 2013.

Look at Dane's tour dates... Every venue is the ________ Arena, or the ________ Forum, or the __________ Center. He started booking arenas after his brother stole all his money. He had to cash out 450k worth of stock. By the end of a week he had 1.8 million in the bank. His current net worth is estimated to be 35 million.
We live in a petty world full of people that DELIGHT in hating people and tearing them down. Dane cook mentors any comedian that asks for advice. The only thing he is guilty of is making other comics jealous. He was willing to put in the work.
I dont find him to be the funniest comedian around. But he is willing to grind and network and book the venues through his own company.
