If you ever get a chance check out Swananoa, A huge Italian villa style castle on the summit of Afton mountain between Stanton and Charlottesville Virginia. Built as a summer home by the president of the C&O railroad.. was on occupied for a few decades. Many strange stories
This is the town I live in. Had a very amazing after-prom party here.. Gothic themed back in the late 80’s. Then they did a haunted castle for Halloween too - again, many years ago.
We toured it once over 20 years ago. I don't believe they do tours any longer because it's more a private event venue now, but it used to be a popular tourist attraction.
