"When Marquez plays well, Barcelona plays 10 times better" - Guardiola
People really shouldn't be surprised he included Marquez. Anyone who's been following La Liga for over a decade knows Marquez was world-class. The cons about him was that although he was very calm, he got red carded in crucial moments and that he was very injury prone. But he was easily among the best centre backs at the time, read the game well, very classy passing and heading technique. Could score from free kicks as well, and often took corner kicks. 2nd choice to ronaldinho.
Only Maldini and Nesta were in a leauge of their own.

It’s a shame Rafael Marquez doesn’t get the recognition he deserves. Extremely underrated! His passing across the field was so perfected, his composure, vision, defense, heading, passing. If he wants to play 3 at the back then fine. But xavi and ronaldinho need to be in there. However, this would mean a cdm would be needed for balance to but busquets in there which will allow the two box to box midfielders to drift into wider spaces. Ronaldinho can play on the left and play inside, interchanging with the 2 midfielders along with messi on the right (both players can play centrally which will allow them to do so while at the same time providing width while still keeping 3 midfielders in there. This leaves the option for a 2 man strike partnership with 4 options (Henry, Aguero, Eto'o and Drogba) and I would have to go with Aguero and Eto'o but I would understand if you wanted to put Henry in there.

I like his team to be honest. reminds me of brazil in world cup 2002 korea japan. when attacking, 3 cb split wide, iniesta controlling the game, and offensive quality spread troughout the pitch. both striker good on air and have good movement. the negative side is that they will have many problems when hit by counter attacks as thier cb's has no pace. iniesta might not be a proper defensive minded player, I think he will leave many spaces open for the defenders to cover. but this team will be success if they control 60%++ possession over thier opponents. the threats is just all over.
