- We wanted to have a little fun so we upgraded the awful stock sound system and head unit in my girlfriends 2017 jeep wrangler. The Stock radio was awful and just really out of date and showing its age. We swapped it out with a Stinger Heigh10 10" Display to make this all a breeze! The Stinger Heigh10 is an amazing headunit that will wake up any interior with so many features including Carplay and Android Auto! We assembled this sound system out of JL Audio C1 Component sets and 2 JL Audio 15W0v3-4 Subwoofers. All secured in a sealed box for clean and tight non distorted bass! This system is loud and clear! We wanted a concert experience and thats what we got! We also added 1 layer of sound shield to eliminate all rattles inside the vehicle! The Sound Shield was 100% a game changer too! The foam in boxes are NOT FOR SOUND DAMPENING! It displaces the air waves! When an air wave bounces off the back of the box it disrupts the push pull of the driver. If you put the foam in inside, it slows down the return waves, therefore the sub thinks its in a bigger box. Lower FQ, more power handle lode with out distortion. The sub FQ will lower. It is NOT THERE FOR SOUND DAMPENING like Dynamat does.

SUPER CLEAN AMP install I will be ordering those amp racks to remount my amps.- As a Jeep & Bass guy, only use SPL subs so that the bass is hard with or without the top. It is a Jeep so that top is gonna be off or partially off at some point. And just a tip, never tune audio using Bluetooth. props for having a lady that helps, that's awesome.
The sound deadening in the sub box is a no no. You are taking up more air space that the sub needs. Especially a sealed box. You use poly fill for the sub box it like what the use in pillows. You just put in a little bit around the walls. Slows the air movement down making the sun think it’s a bigger box.
The 80's called and want their technology back.
Ringing subwoofer enclosures are exactly what you want to hear in a good stereo set up.

Very clean install. With that space I would’ve went for either a single 12 or two 10’s in a ported enclosure tuned to 30-32 hz

It Would be pointless to use a ported enclosure if you’re going to be driving with the doors off etc… 😂 might as well run the subs with no box at that point

I used to have 2 15s in my wrangler tj I walled the back off and had a huge port it used to flex the plastic topper really badly and tore a window seal lol

Polyfill stuffing isn't necessary, but it helps. I used old pillows lol
it is for those component speakers, those tiny pods are no good.
You need a audio control epicenter to really get the bass going night and day difference you’ll love it
Jl audio I had them back in the day they always split their surrounds on 15 w6 ran a trio of them in my Grand Cherokee. The w7 has modular surround meaning it's replaceable . When I put the 12s under my Rams seat I skipped JL and went to a pair of DC audio level 4 with level 5 upgrade parts they hit almost as hard as the 3 15w6 did and haven't fell apart like the w6 surrounds did.

There is so much info on the internet on how to install, build, tweak car audio system. Thats how I learned to build my own enclosures, install everything in multiple cars. Its pretty much universal.

Very Nice! That's alot of work! Since you have an amp I'd recommend not using anything under a C3 JL Audio and a custom enclosure with better subs if you feel the need to upgrade. Next Level Fabrications is my enclosure guy.
I have the c1s and they sound so good you don’t even need to add tweeter it sound so clear

A sealed box is the best if you're not a Bass Head. Much ezy to toon faster with the best price. I switched to Fosgate stereo system in the early 90's like 1991 first year of High school and still have the amplifier punch 200 for mid punch 60 high punch 40. the sound denting material just use Lizard coating spray on. Best for the money.

it can be confusing on car audio forums. not everyone really knows what they are talking about. some are just repeating things like robots without any real world experience.
the sound bar delete was in reference to creating a front sound stage.
using soundmat inside the box isnt needed. you could build a box using thicker mdf and coat the box with bedliner since its a jeep and water getting inside is a thing.
adding sound mat is adding mass to your vehicle surfaces. you're essentially lowering the frequency of the noise. adding another layer to the floors will help. also adding mat to the inside skin of the door will help. invest in some amp gain setting tools if this is going to be a thing for you. setting gains by ear is fine to get some music going but you are not getting the performance you should.

Generally speaking, bigger subs will have more output for the same power. So if you want the most output without using a whole lot of power, go with big subs and big enclosures.
This setup deserves a way better box, that cheap sealed box don't fit the build
DS18 literally has everything you need for that Jeeps stereo.

@ryan2546 JL do have good sound quality, but I personally don't agree that JL components sound better.
9 wire with a wire harness to keep the factory wiring in place is so much easier. You won't notice any difference in sound quality. Those speaker wire adapters are also really nice and would have simplified the component install. Just saying.
The forums aren't necessarily a mess. You in some cases need to know what questions to ask and how to ask them. In the example you brought up, what the person told you about skipping the sound bar, makes total sense to me if your looking for proper imaging and staging ( which I don't believe that you are ). As someone who has competed a bit here and there in both IASCA and MECCA in sound quality classes, I could wander pretty deep down some car audio rabbit holes. Nice fit and finish work with the wiring tho!

I had the HEIGH10 in my Wrangler. Only problems I had with it were once in a blue moon the reverse camera didn’t work (very rare) and the steering wheel controls had a slight delay.
Super professional install! I've installed a lot of stereo systems and have access to all the proper equipment, but they never came out that good. 😯

All you need is a big 3 upgrade and agm battery from xs power preferably the d3400 series to help with the voltage drop.. running stock electrical you’ll never get the full potential of what that system can do!

Nice work a Ported box made with birch & no internal sound dampening would give you deeper bass if you upgraded in the future… wish I they made that head unit for OBS trucks.

Back in the day, my buddy barely fit 2 / 18 inch Peavey scorpions in a tiny sealed box BEHIND the back seat in his Wrangler. He just ran them as subs.....he should have ran them full range!
Ok I just looked it up your subs are 4 ohms and your amp is 600w at 4 ohms and 1000w 2 ohms if that’s all good play around with box placement my box was placed right up on the back door. One thing you have to remember is bass is non directional. Meaning if it facing the back it will still project and being a sealed box it doesn’t need room for the port to fire

You can get alot more bass if you have the right mdf spec box am from Jamaica and I have 4 old school jl audio 18 and they are 600 rms a piece and when I drop the bass you could hear it from all the way down the street
It’s speced to the required airspace! Trust me you can hear the jeep coming down the street!!

Nice clean install but subs that's supposed to work in small space has a trade-off of what it could soud like and to me it's to big of a trade-off. Max I would of went with is 2 12s with the same air space. A higher quality 10s would most likely sound better than what you have.
Your videos are getting better and better. I'm impressed with the Stinger! Any thoughts about putting on in your Ram? I'm going to look into one for my 2017. My head unit doesn't have GPS activated and I can't fathom spending $500 to activate it. I'd much rather spend $1000 and get the Stinger!!
The stinger for the ram is a pretty clean kit as well! Bigger than the 8” u connect and ready to go for aftermarket speakers!
Only thing i didnt like about the stinger when looking at it, is that what you pay to get it still doesn’t give you bluetooth apple car play. Whereas the sony head unit that is free floating is $1,300 and it has BT apple car play and is a 10.1” free floating head unit with a volume KNOB (which is a big seller for me, i hate clicking buttons i just want a wheel to spin to lower my volume quickly). I cant remember the exact model number for the sony headunit, but thats what im putting in my ram after i do my subs.

The reason why people say run only front speakers because with the subwoofers it’s drowns the rear speakers when people sit in the back. But if you like it then it doesn’t matter, it’s the art of your work that matter
