Jack Klugman was such an exceptional guy. Special.
Fun fact: $1100 in 1971 is equivalent to $7430 today
The Odd Couple episode entitled "Password," was extremely funny!
I wonder if this was the episode that led to the Odd Couple show.
This is my favorite version of password. Loved watching when I stayed home from school.
I'm glad we got the 60s episodes, as those are my favorite.
Sadly, "wiping" was the common practice of the day, and it was practiced alot by ABC and NBC, while CBS started, in 1970-1971, to preserve their tapes, thus most the Goodson-Todman/Mark Goodson library, along with the Barry and Enright library was preserved.
I guess it was when they went from film to magnetic tape. Tapes were reused and episodes were lost
I agree. The 1960s episodes ARE better.
I wish we had on show like this today. Thanks for uploading
Me too! But, they would base it on filthy jokes and kill the original, kinda like with Family Fued
@@icyfire6879 My 4th grade reading class was preforming so poorly and my teacher was at her wit's end trying to get the class to comprehend what we were reading. Then, one day she made us play Password and our grades improve drastically.
They did reboot the show
Brett like get over here lady!! Away from my husband 😂
My thought exactly.
Always loved this show! Especially with Allan Ludden as host. Extra special when Betty White was on too. Miss all of it and them. 😟
Agree
One of the best game shows EVER devised!
Love password, since I was five years old, now I'm 60 +.
I love you Brett Somers. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
This is my favorite Password version. Too bad the majority of the episodes are gone.
This episode is going to air on Buzzr for the Password Summer Beach Party starting this Monday, August 8th, 2022.
I was in a political ad that was directed by Jack Klugman's son Adam. These are awesome videos!
Aristophanes!!
Ridiculous. DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING!
Good times
"He's not taking any chances." Yowzah! 😉
This is the first early 70s version I've seen yet, please Sir may I have some more?. Mary Lane is match game quality 🔥, Simonas pretty 🔥 too. For slim I woulda said Pickens or Whitman
Repeat on clues from the 64 episode with Lucy, Gary, Lucy and Desi Jr.
Jack won em, while Brett sent em home... lol
Tension abounds when Jack and Brett are together and always insulting the other when they appeared alone. A match made in you know where
Even then at the very end Brett Simmers used her 'coughing' disturbances to get air time.
I think that she was a big influence on the mid 70's Match Game big spinning wheel because he could read his contestant so well: that for good reason he was often chosen to win.
I generously in-tuned man. He took a win over a cheap laugh anytime.

Two very annoying people together doubles their annoyingness.
I prefer the spin-off game pass gas. lighting round is a real blast
Where they get tripped up on this show is when the people giving clues change definitions on them. Most of these words have more than one definition.
So to d to see this show again nice to bring back the good old days when t.v. was clean and families all sat down together for a nice evening not everybody was doing their own thing on their cell phones on their computers and Xbox video games that's all
Wish those days never left 🤗
2 years after Password, Brett made her call, Match Game!
This would have been great if Tony Randall had been the other guest.
Would have been an ODD game.
@@pikemeredith5604 ARISTOPHENES.
@@rufust.firefly4890 RIdiculous?? 😂😂
@@lukeheaton5336 LOL. Glad you got that. That's a catch phrase my friend and I sometimes use.
There was a week in 1973 where Jack and Tony were the two guests, but of course, all the episodes from that week were later wiped. Boy, would I love to see the week, it was probably a blast.
Me encantan estos programas, cuánto me hubieran ayudado a aprender más inglés, ya con 60 años de edad siento que es tarde pero aún así me divierto sin entender mucho de lo que hablan.
Looks like the desk is swallowing the participants...
Mary Lane looks like Gloria on "The Odd Couple".....
This is one of 9 episodes in the UCLA archive, and one of the few in color.
DTB1997 It is a SHAME that more foresight wasn’t exercised to preserve this show.
@@rockaway2k Yeah, especially since ALL the tapes were used to record Family Feud(Dawson).
Well, Shimona is the first Indian I saw on password and she is pretty good at it!
Not from New Year's Day, as this version didn't debut until spring of 1971, replacing DARK SHADOWS.
December 7th, 1971 was the original air date of this episode.
One of the lone survivors of this version :-(
why is it the only one? was there a fire in the film storage?
Ryan Johnson They reused the tapes for Family Feud.
ok thanks for the info!was that normal for tv shows?
Ryan Johnson Unfortunately, kind of. Tape was pretty expensive at the time. The majority of series that are lost were wiped or thrown out for storage space. BBC shows were particularly hurt by this.
dang that stinks i enjoy thease old game shows
Weren't there more episodes from 1968 to 1970?
Greetings from Peru
Netting + wedding or bride = veil; King + son = prince; finger + indicate = point (This would have made a good start, at least)
Shroud for veil
Remember Aristophanes is ridiculous.
New years night
Do you have any more episodes from the 60s and 70s
Facinating......didn't even remember this version of the series. So why a gap of 2 years ? Are you resuming 1969 shows tomorrow?
CBS ended with the episode posted yesterday. The ABC version started in 1971.
Executive Decision I think you for your insight. This show grows on you and I remember it during the 70’s daytime period when I was sick from school and during summer months.
DTB1997 A great show with many performers who are no longer with us.
Wow I didn't realize the show was off the air for 4 years !!!
Funk and Wagnal's lol
Where to watch the second part of it?
Slim Summerville ? What was Allen thinking, how about Pickens!
Slim Pickens
The set's changed! (the announcer's different too)
and now the Lightening Round's different. Wow, they've REALLY changed this game!
Does this game still exist in America m
When did Ms. Somers add a second "m", to her surname? News, to me ...and, R.I.P.
These folks were about as sharp as a bowling ball.
This set seems quite large in the show open
1st esipode
Ball…..

He who?
Hands down my fav. show.
Not smart enough for Jeopardy& do
not care for Drew Cary;. No class at all####
??
the cuss work version is a hoot
8:22 this is THE fundamental error of all players. To change the subject as the guessers are trying to put together the clues into a coherent whole. IT WILL ALWAYS fail and utterly confuses the players. Here she changes the subject from 'tip, sharp' to a completely different version of the word 'score points' and leaves the players trying to make sense of "tip, point, score". Grrrrr. And then she changes to FINGER (pointing a finger) 3 completely different versions of the word. Love the game except for this common idiocy.
At least this version of PASSWORD stopped at 5 points. The original version got really dull as the points went even lower, thereby making the overall game even longer.
The ethereal squid admittedly strengthen because creator angiographically film during a greedy white. steadfast, drab bubble
Don’t like these ‘modern’ shows of Password; it’s the garish neon orange set and the changes within the way the game was played. A foreshadowing of what was to come in the tasteless 70s.
The 70s were colorful, happy and vibrant. Everything opposite of today.
I get the impression that Brett Klugman was a very jealous person. 😕
?
Well your impression is very WRONG. Leave Brett alone.
I notice that too, she was really weird
One of my number one nightmares would be, being married to Brett Somers. I pity Jack Klugman, though he's almost as annoying as she is. She got a job on her husband's show and she did millions of gameshows, but I can't think of a single thing she did otherwise. You'd think somebody with such a big mouth and huge ego she would've had more acting parts.
