Jordanian 36C
It is poor airmanship, poor energy management, inconsiderate of passengers and a waste of fuel to PLAN to use speedbrakes during an approach when you know you are going to hold....in fact for any approach.
On landing after a super heavy with a crosswind the Captain immediately released the control column and the activated reverse thrust lever and started fiddling IN the cockpit with some irrelevant knob at high ground speed! !!!
Not the way to do it..

@@pben4431 Speedbrake usage during the descent was necessary in order to hit the holding point at the correct altitude and airspeed. A 787 wing has a great deal of lift and it's rare not to require the speedbrake at some point during the descent. Energy management is not always entirely within the crew's control especially when going into busier airports.
@@pben4431 I do agree the pilot should have maintained positive pressure on the yoke rather than letting it go.
I will forever be in awe of aviators who have the wits, skills, and guts to get behind the yoke and fly an incredibly complicated and massive airliner full of people. It is more responsibility in a single day than many people will face in a lifetime.
Yes if you have that money you will have skill
Planes practically fly themselves these days anyway. Not to take anything away from the profession of course. Guts is flying a spitfire during the Battle of Britain. This is just a job in the end.
@@originalbadboy32 No offense, but are you a pilot?
Mr ML yeah. That’s one of the main reasons i’ll never be a pilot in the near future if I don’t have the money. And I will never take a loan to become a pilot as that is risky. I’m just thinking about all the cadets who loaned from to bank now they can’t fly because of the covid-19.
@@bobbyricigliano2799 None taken .. No .. Your point?
A note of appreciation to the pilot. I appreciate it when the pilots take a moment to educate the audience. As one who has traveled internationally for fifty years, it might seem silly that I get as much enjoyment from learning the processes which have been so incredibly successful. To the producers of this channel, I appreciate the dedication to getting so many different airlines to participate. I have found education is one of the most effective ways of breaking down barriers. We are all so much more alike than different.
Andrew Mathewson thanks very much Andrew. Very happy you enjoy the videos and pilot presentations 👨🏻✈️👍✈️
@god Seems like you just couldn't resist being sarcastic. Sad that god must try to rain on other people's parades.
Perfectly phrased, Andrew. You speak for many with your words: Thanks !
Thanks for watching captain and shift commander LABonte air mobility command patriot wing commander
Really? Sarcastic? Not at all but thanks for taking the time to share that others could be confused by a compliment.
This Jordanian pilot is an excellent teacher with the explanation. He's the best!
For 19 mins I turned into a little boy with wonder in my eyes. Thank you for this moment.
That's a captain you'd feel complete confidence in. Completely in command of his responsibilities and being able to teach as well.
"autopilot off, my controls" man, what a moment, every time
That was very early.
You can tell these two pilots trust and respect each other. Gem of a video!
It is very comforting to see a Captain / Pilot so skilled in handling the Aircraft with confident.
this is probably one of the best cockpit videos I've seen.
I agree with your comment; I've viewed thousands of such videos. This is a superb video and a benchmark of this type.
Yes.. I too agree.. One of best videos of cockpit and pilots working and views. Thanks to Royal Jordanian. Thanks everyone. Gives feel-good sensation.
If you think about it these are the people we put our trust and lives and the lives of our children in. That crew were so incredibly professional the way they worked together. We can only hope they are all like these two men. What a view.
Never flown with Royal Jordanian but watching this clip with these pilots in the cockpit gives me such confidence .... quality
I know enough about flying small aircraft to say to everyone here that the Captain has to be very good to make that landing look so easy - on the stick, on the pedals all the way in and 50ft over the piano - well done Sir! Quite amazing how one's life turns out - now over 70 I can look down on that big field seen in the final approach and remember working in it with a heavy horse when it was a farm. Back then Heathrow airport had tents for arrivals and departures and if you had the princely sum of five shillings - a guy in a Dragon Rapide would give you a quick flip from the central area.
I would of loved to see his rudder work. That landing was greased.
At what point should the pilot switch off AP and start flying manualy.
He released the controls immediately after touchdown before the aircraft slowed. At this point I believe ailerons are still active. He should hold on the controls untill the breaking is complete.
That may be the most enjoyable and relaxing 20 minutes I’ve spent this year. Calmness and confidence in pilot, co-pilot and ATC. Thank You
See, I prefer a little more excitement there Brian. I rather enjoy when the pilots are screaming themselves hoarse, having beef with each other and flexing over minor stuff...flight attendants calmly asking if anyone on board knows how to fly a plane...that type stuff. To each their own though. Good day Brian...Motel Indian Knife Echo...heavy.
As a professional pilot, much kudos to these extremely skilled and talented pros. It would be an honor to fly with them.
Yes and BIG kudos to the air traffic controllers.
I must have flown in to Heathrow at least 200 times in my life and I never tire of the view. If you park up near the perimiter and look up, you can see the lights of the incoming planes, lined up one behind each other in the sky, all at different stages of their descent. On a busy morning they are no more than one minute's flying time behind each other. It's an incredible sight and I take my hat off to ATC - they do an amzing job keeping all this in order. The skies above London are usually filled with planes. Until COVID-19 came along, of course. Now I look up and the skies are practically empty - only the occasional overflying flight at 30,000 feet.
So uhhhhhhhhhh, we uhhhhhhhh just entered the best part uhhhhhhhh. This pilot has the best pilot voice ever!
I love flying into Heathrow. I'm always so excited to be in London again and I love looking for the chimney pots on the roofs and seeing the cars and trucks on the road below. It's so green and pretty. I love seeing that, I live in the desert so all that green is a lovely change.
Never looked at the scenery that way before. We take the green open spaces for granted
Sorry what a bad taste!!!Not in offensive way.
Most of the people that are immigrants like me,they hate arriving in London.
Most of the time it's grey or raining 🌧 😩 and you get depressed, and miss what you left behind....
But if you leave in the dessert,it's understandable!
@@espiritualme2048 I don't understand, you obviously wanted to live in the UK, you knew what the weather was like when you made the choice
@@sharonlawrence4830 It's ok for you to take the green open spaces for granted, but immigrants must be in love with everything about the place they immigrate to? There are plenty of Brits that get depressed when they fly back into blighty from places with more clement climates. Perhaps you should go back to commenting on Daily Mail articles. LOL I wonder if Sharon is the British version of the American Karen.... Methinks so.

Well you ungrateful nutter, it is obvious you're been reading the daily fail far too long, the streets are not paved with gold for you to grab
So much respect to the pilots, that was a ridiculously smooth landing!
All done by computers.A computers can be hacked,MH370 for instance.
@@stucrossland3719 the landing and takeoff is not done by computers- its fully in the pilots control
The cruising is autopilot

It was amazing to see how much he was working the controls back and forth, side to side to keep the aircraft steady. Big surprise for us non-pilots to see. Amazing skills!
Yes, he was having to work that yoke quite a bit and it seems there is a delay on when the airplane responds. Unlike my Cessna 172. Would of loved to see his rudder work. PS, I am a student pilot.
What an excellent teacher. Probably one of the best captains I’ve seen.
How so?
The view of Singapore A-380 in flight is just amazing :-)
I'm pretty sure I have learned more from this video than any I have seen in a cockpit. This Captain is an excellent instructor and pilot.
If all the pilots were as professional as these two there would be no pilot-induced accidents at all. Great work gentlemen!
My hat goes off to your high levels of skills to fly these aircraft. True professionals and masters.
Brilliant footage.
Well done to you 👍
Excellent landing from the Jordanian Pilots," autopilot off, my controls" man, what a moment, every time
The same moment i admired ..👍
While on UN mission, I travelled with Jordanian Pilots, from Pakistan till Liberia an African country . They are The Best pilot. Excellent and superb... Love you Jordanian from Pakistan..
You pilots are awesome. Thanks for keeping us safe in the air.
In awe. Never seen such a smooth landing before. Expert piloting and of course the Royal Jordanian Dreamliner had a little something to do with it. Wowza!
always amazes me, the sheer size of these machines and how they stay up there.
the other thing that really gets me to sit up and take notice, the calmness of the crew and the "matter of fact" voices of air traffic control............. I freely admit I couldn't do it
It really isn't bad at all. Once you know the lingo, the radios are quite simple. And every approach and landing is essentially the same so you know what ATC is going to say before they say it. These guys have done it many many many times. It's like walking. -737 pilot
Aircraft aluminum and boat steel. That's the secret.
That's what I can't fathom ...How on earth is it possible for something that big to stay in the air ! And how do the pilots know what all the buttons and dials are for ! I still don't know what all the lights on my smart car are for !
"I freely admit I couldn't do it"
Well, not without training. Much the same as any commercial pilot.
“This is how we do it.” 👍
Best line of the video.
Seems so simple...
Such an observant captain 👌 "the nose of the a380 was to the left so expect crosswind".. Noticing that even though they were a few miles behind. Excellent display of leadership in the cockpit
On that final 800ft where he has manual control and he is working the yoke it really looks like hes fighting the wind. Got to be the best office in the world.
I really like the repeat of the last stage of landing from the different viewpoints. I remain amazed at the high skill and professionalism of the pilots of these heavy aircraft.
That landing was beautiful. He held it off at 10 feet and let it sink sl-o-o-o-o-wly to the runway.
@@paulmartos7730 The actual touchdown was smooth but the rest of it demonstrated poor and potentially dangerous technique. ..
The aircraft was not being controlled
As a former Training Capt I would recommend further training.
@@pben4431 WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT ? RUDDER AND LEFT HANDED WHAT ELSE?
@@ernestodeoto1312 He's talking about how the Captain let go of everything with both hands right after touchdown. That was a display of very poor airmanship.
@@chris99997 you dont use the yoke when your landed, left hand on steering and other in trottle.
I like the captain, I think this buddy have flown until he fears nothing.very ralaxing n confident...kudos captain
Yes indeed. Great Captain!
a lot of work. its hard to believe that theses machines are made by man and its amazing how smart the Pilots are. We should stop taking everything for granted and enjoy the world , technology and comfort that we have .
Thoroughly entertaining. One of the best cockpit videos I have ever seen. The skill of the pilots, and how they remain calm and in control, is awe inspiring.
It's nice to see this video. I was on the 787 program for several years, building the planes. Seeing them flying and from the flight deck is a nice treat.
And thank YOU for a beautiful job making these increible machines with so much built in safety, and their controls to keep us safe in the skies. 'It takes a village' & human industrial work has given current humans a wonderufl life as long as we are among those who are fortunate enough to eat enough & be able to enjoy such things as your work - I try to always be aware of how much diverse effort goes into all the things we take for granted these days ! Be proud of what you helped with - I feel proud just as a passenger or even watching a video like this ! Well done humans !
I took my first international flight from Istanbul to Bangkok(September 2011) with Jordan Airlines. I did it with a 787 Dreamliner that had just been released at the time. Great memories😊😊
So nice to see a video like this without music in the background!
I've flown once in the skies above London and it was fucking scary man, soooo many aircraft cutting about. Respect to the pilots/ATC for keeping it orderly and safe.
Plus helicopters XD
Why the unnecessary expletive ?
lol
Gav Hastings I agree, I used to trace the Thames snaking along and then see it again on the go around, it was fantastic.I used to live near the AIrport and as a treat on a weekend my Mum and Dad would take us there for the day, you could go outside and watch all day long. I also saw the Beatles arriving omg I'm old ❤️
Outstanding flight management by the Captain and Co-pilot, and the landing was so smooth given the cross wind and turbulence on approach. Well done and a credit to Jordanian Air.
One of my favorite videos! Thanks to the pilots for lending themselves to the actor's role! A huge THANK YOU to JP :)
London looks fabulous. Love the English accent of the guy in Heathrow control tower.
This Captain's commentary is very clear & informative, love the way he shows the flight instrument displays changing as he controls the aircraft.. fascinating..!
Really get the sense of the atmosphere as a fluid when the film is sped up, it's like swimming through an ocean of air.
Yes absolutely. Air does behave like a fluid.
Used to love makeup videos but since watching your channel, you're my only 💘
I was amazed at the amount of minor adjustments he needed to make, I'd assumed something that big and heavy is not going to be moved very much by external forces
Winds affect them too.
Just Planes - thanks for this wonderful look at what goes on in the cockpit plus the great views of London - actually gave me goosebumps! Seeing all those famous sights & The Thames winding it's way around the city. I have so much respect & admiration for the people who guide & fly these massive airliners, keeping us all safe.
One of your very best. Beautifully clear shots, including the tourist sites and the usual last minute Heathrow landing clearance. Nice footage.
Fantastic pilots people just don't know how much respect these guys deserve..❤
They were probably in the air force so this is bread and butter for them.
First time I’ve been in the cockpit flying into Heathrow! Thanks
Thanks to the pilots for their demonstration of how the instruments work.....Very enjoyable video.
Beautiful cockpit in the 787.
Very cool. If I were a pilot of any type of aircraft I don't think I'd ever get tired of flying. Thanks to the pilots for sharing the experience. And the flim crew of course. And Just Planes. 👍🏻😉
amazing crew, Fine balance between explaining to viewers while still maintaining the safety of a cockpit environment.
One of the best cockpit video's I've seen. Great job gentlemen! Would love to be a passanger with these pilots.
That is what i call ... self confidence ...
Thanks guys for a lovely performance .
That was amazing .
I love the fancy system that tells you are right or left and when to stop. Would be cool to have such a system for garages for cars.
imagine the confusion as passengers seeing the speedbrakes going up and down continuously just because the captain is explaining it to the film crew XD. Very awesome video and I love the 787 flightdeck and that Singapore a380 is amazing.
edit: I see some people didn't get it. Pilots do extend speedbrakes to aid in descent. This is not a rare occasion. I was just pointing out as the captain wanted to show to the person filming how you can see it on the display by moving it up and down continuously. That's why as a passenger pov it must be funny. And I over exaggerated as this was a joke. Calm down folks.
@ATCkeepsUsafe Something wrong?
@DJRICKYDEEUK I know that speedbrakes are deployed to aid in the descent. I was just referring as the captain wanted to show to the person filming how you can see it on the display by moving it up and down continuously. That's why as a passenger pov it must be funny.
@DJRICKYDEEUK Yeah, My bad. I edited it because some people here are bitten by it somehow. Good day to you sir.
I honestly would be so confused 😂 😂 😂 😂
To reduce speed or to increase rate of descent with same speed.
Professional crew, stunning views, excellent landing also.
Thanks for the ride!
nice sooth ( as butter) landing...i could not even notice when you touched down....good job.
Brilliant video into my beautiful country i haven't been back to in many years' really hope to see at a least one more time
One of the best Heathrow Landing Videos. Thank you for posting
Respect to all the great pilot's all doing a great job, love it.
What beautiful pictures, how skilled are these pilots , incredible.....So why on earth so many thumbs down 👎, what did I miss ?..To me it was a stunning little video with incredible scenes of what it must be like flying..I’ve never been in an airliner, but how wonderful it must be to be in the cockpit.
Wow those two planes in the beginning looked very close to one another!
Amazing how different the landing experience is from the flight deck.
Ive never watched a video like this before, i thoroughly enjoyed it thank you.
Living in the gutsy dream. Getting first into London, curving it, crossing across the, Thames, positioning on the landing line of Heatheow Airport and landling technically perfectly! ❤❤
Just lovely to watch and humble little comment from the Pilot was so sweet.
i love how they're all just cruisin' up there
That landing was incredible. possibly the smoothest I've witnessed!
Smooth never equals best. It was a good landing. One cannot really discern smooth from CZcams anyway (again a poor assessment of the quality of a good landing, fwiw).
This is how we do it 👏 thank you captain for being pro like your colleagues 👏
One of the best cockpit video.........😍😍😍
Captain said : look at that Singapore Airlines , sooo gracefuuul......
Fantastic video, loved the Lambourne hold views, this was back in the day when traffic used to hold for a Heathrow arrival.
120+ arrivals and departures every hour, changed days now. Keep flying, keep watching Just Planes, its epic :))
The clearest enunciation I've ever heard coming out of a cockpit. And WHY DO AIR CONTROLLERS always assume they're talking to a native speaker? I've encountered this a million times, air controllers' slurring, sloppy, hurried, bumbling instructions to a Korean, a Japanese, a Venezuelan, an Arabian, a Kazakh, a Greek pilot, where I myself have to ask for a repetition.
Best video yet bravo Royal Jordanian.
Love watching these amazing pilots. Operating such a complicated machine
I like traveling so much and it's always a pleasure to be up on the sky. Wish I can fly again after this pandemic.
Thanks for the pilots for taking us to other parts of the world. The have an amazing jobs navigating the plane to safe flying and landing. Awesome Jordanian pilots.
Perfect landing.. Smooth as butter! Nice
It’s so satisfying watching a plane take off and land especially from the cockpit.
Remember back pre-Covid when we had airlines! Seems a world ago...
I know my cousin and I have lost our safari but staying positive we will come through this.
Awesome video, best view of a LHR Landing I have seem. In the 90's I lived 4 miles from the end of that runway at Heathrow, so these guys flew right over my old neighbourhood.
the quality on this is just immense
That was totally absorbing...! It's nice that the airline gave permission to film in the cockpit.
This crew is great. One of my favorite things to start my day to. So much talent and responsibility involved. Love this stuff. The views are simply stunning as well. Nice post guys.

Thank you so very much for uploading. Now the ordinary man in the street can see what is happening in the cockpit and landing views from cockpit so very clearly from various angles. So wonderful and amazing. God bless you.
y'all thanked the pilots but lets not forget the ground maintenance also. they keep these planes safe and on tiptop shape ;-)
