@@bixby9797 Robbie C isn't on the same tournament level of success as Uli, but if you watch his videos, he often mentions his own coach and a lot of his recent videos have been him working on bettering himself as well. Even coaches need coaching and it's cool to see it. Wasn't it just last year that Uli had some nuts shots on a woods hole (possibly downhill w/wind at his back) that he blew everyone away and thru something crazy like 700? Honestly, I can picture Jerm working on w/Uli on this bc I'm assuming he is getting his leg fixed in the offseason and will be coming back. May as well try and squeeze some extra distance out of there. They both talk on coverage like they can't stand up to the younger guys, but regularly see them getting good finishes in the money. I'm an older player and nice to see some of the players I was watching when I first started still competing at a high level.
It's crazy how quickly a pro can interpret instructions for a minor adjustment and apply it to gain the advantage. Mind blown. You guys are fantastic! Thanks for the offseason videos!
Same, he can just MAKE his body do it so quickly, truly remarkable. I try over and over tweaks and for changes and my body just feels STUCK doing the same thing
Uli's humbleness is so amazing. Dude is the Discraft Team Captain, a world renowned disc golfer, and a National Tour Champion, and watching him get this excited about improving is really inspiring. To be clear, I throw an average of MAYBE 290. I am 47 with a lower back injury that has 3 rods and multiple screws that severely limits rotation at times.
That is great, I also have back problems mid but not to your extent and no surgery. My pain comes the day after if I over do it. I suggest learning a nice smooth flex forearm or flip up a forearm less stable discs for easy distance and less stress. If you do it smooth and not trying hard but just getting a nice release you can hit 350 on those longer holes. I wish you good health and a long active disc golf life.
You don't have to throw far to have our respect and admiration, Paul. We love you because you are THE quintessential professional disc golfer. I often quip you're the greatest disc golfer to never win worlds, and I mean that in the most positive way possible. You've held a 1000+ rating since 2008. You've got 110 wins from 572 events (!!) and $344,000 in professional winnings alone. You are a superb and often hilarious commentator, and you are an excellent teacher of disc golf. If we couldn't like and admire you for these things alone, we'd have to do some serious introspection... because what's not to like? Now, come to New Zealand for the Tour Downunder - and bring lots of discs with you. Good onya, mate. :)
Hey Paul, as an MA1 player looking to move up to MPO, this video is massively helpful. A lot of the form videos on CZcams. Don't really dial in on those final few items to get you past that 500 mark, but seeing a pro givenstructions to another pro is just so beneficial, and much appreciated
01:47 🥏 Paul Ulibarri is seeking tips to improve his disc golf throw distance, with a focus on technique. 03:36 🛠 Ezra suggests that one key to improving distance is being more aggressive in the throw and refining timing, rather than changing discs or angles. 05:39 📏 They measure one of Paul's throws at 476 feet, and Ezra believes Paul can reach 530 feet or even more with some adjustments. 08:08 🎯 Ezra explains that increasing distance not only means throwing farther but also allows for using more overstable discs & straighter lines, providing various benefits. 11:54 🔄 Ezra advises Paul to keep the disc close to his body and focus on timing for a snappier throw, suggesting that small adjustments can lead to significant improvements. 14:06 🎉 Paul achieves a remarkable throw of 555 feet after making the suggested adjustments, highlighting the potential for improvement even at a high level of play. 19:06 💪 Ezra encourages players with solid form to add aggression and speed to their throws to gain extra distance while maintaining accuracy.
as a humble 880 golfer id love to spend a day with you guys and chop it up and play a round and absorb as much as humanly possible. Ive fallen in love with the game and consuming content. Had ULI sign some discs at lake marhsall silver series and watched you guys throw a hole or two shooting the warm up video there. Hope i get that opportunity again soon in the future. keep it up guys!
Way down the fairway! Love it, seeing a veteran trying to improve is awesome and I would enjoy seeing this turn into a series with more instruction from Ezra and other top pros
It is awesome that a seasoned pro is open to feedback and how quickly he can adopt changes based on that. Excellent video to show how we all can learn.
Loved this video! Please consider making a series of you chasing more distance and share progression and whatever realization you have along the way🤞 Absolutely my fav player. Love watching you play
This was cool to watch, you two are awesome! Thank you for bringing me along to the field session. I met you both in person, thank you for signing my disc, it was a huge pleasure to meet you both!
That was very nice of Ezra to help you improve your distance Paul. He had a good point because at the level you are both at that could cost him real money, He is a good friend indeed!
Uli's tip about throwing a touch upshot a few years ago by coming higher up across the chest helped me with my accuracy and confidence. This kind of content is really helpful for us rec players who need the basic form so that we can overcome our bad habits and get more satisfaction and enjoyment out of Disc Golf. Thanks.
Sign of expert is how fast he can implement a change. Amazing humility too. I tell my music students this all the time, but most approach their weaknesses by hiding them. Instant sub!
What a great video. That sort of quick rubber band like reach back is actually something I've emulated of Ezra's but on shorter putter throws. I need to get out and think about this on distance lines. I've steadily been gaining distance since I started in 2021, and keep thinking I'm at my cap, but consistently hitting 450+ these past 3 months has me wanting to push into the accurate 475-500 range (without a tail wind) and I this is motivating.
This was awesome. Learned a lot. Would love to see more along these lines. One thing people don’t talk about is controlled approach shots. I’d love to see some vids re: that.
Great video. Uli, getting on a regular weight lifting program might help to, if you aren't doing that. Never going to hurt to bulk up in the off season!
Very cool video. I was rooting for you getting 500. Great job. I hope you will make a video before the season to see how stable your form is distance wise
I think this video shows why good athletes like uli and a lot of the top guys can do so well. He was able to get 50ft more distance in like 10 shots. That body control and mind muscle connection is insane. It took me thousands of shots to go from 400 to 450.
What a crazy cool moment to have witnessed. Let's go Uli, and holy crap Ezra way to just see the perfect thing to tweak. Absolutely insane Uli could implement that and actually get 50 feet in a day.
This is why discgolf is so exciting. Even after 20 years of being pro almost, there is always room for improvement and you can see it clearly on Pauls face! This i why i love throwing stuff in general, because, even one plus feet feels sick! Happy for you Paul, welcome to the big-arms league :D
definitely need more instruction videos even if i dont have the ability to play because of distances to courses and equipment i still find it interesting to get all this info if i do ever get to play.
Uli, I got you bro. Two things I see in your slo-mo, so we'll start from the ground up. 1) The energy/power that is generated when you plant is leaking out and not going into the disc as it should, We can see that energy actually coming through your momentum, and out your left leg, sending it careening/barreling right on past your follow-thru. Strike a pose, balaned on your right foot at the end of the follow-thru, left leg up as the natural counter balance for the rest of the body. 2) Very little, If any... tilt/angle of your shoulders in your coil. The slight tilt of the shoulders automatically engages the proper back muscles needed for the transferring the energy from our hips to our throwing shoulder, on it's way down the line to the disc. It might just be that disonnect along the path of the 'whip' that is diverting the energy away from your disc, and out your follow-thru momentum. I don't know. Just a hunch, but let me know if that helps you out.
Great video guys!! Impressive to gain 60ft on the first day. I'm struggling trying to break the 400ft mark. Looks like I got some tips now to go work in the field
If this was me I would have been lying in bed at night, wide awake like a kid on Christmas Eve. That feeling happens several times during the journey but this far into the career feels like an awakening moment. Happy for you Uli!
555 from a guy who has downplayed his distance for years. Now that there is a tour card, I think every cardholder should try this so we can actually establish how much distance it takes to play on tour once and for all.
Such a great video! Great info and loved seeing two great players working together. I do have a question tho for Uli or Ezra. I notice that Paul throws himself(left leg) forward after release. I can only assume you are generating power from that leg and it's doing it's thing, but wouldn't it be more beneficial to load from the back and stay balanced? I see Aaron Gossage, the Goose(no pun intended), do the same thing and he obviously mashes but wondering why this is good and/or a bad thing for some. I do this at times and it kills my distance. Obviously a timing thing for me but... Keep putting out content brother!
I'm thinking you can thrown 480. Keep up the great work and love the tour life pod! My favorite parts are when you don't let Brodie talk over you btw, you got some good takes
I agree about the plus 30 ft as good. I think it's proportional, if I throw max around (as it is) 90 m (295 ft; my record is 106 mt, 348 ft) and throw a putter to 60 m (197 ft), and a midrange to around max 70 mt (230 ft); it suits to me throwing a (light, 155-159 gr, for me) fairway (with them usually I succeed in reaching 65-75 mt, 213-246 ft) or a distance driver (with these, I succeed frequently in reaching 75-90 m, 246-295ft), for gaining that 10-20 mt (33-65 ft). Obviously, all this stuff, considering an enough good precision
This video is gold. Love hearing these perspectives and the humility from elite players in our sport!
Game recognizes game
What a hot take
Anthony, sounds like you just have to try harder ;) that being said once form is good yes a lot of it is just go be an athlete.
What’s really cool is both of these guys are part of the Power Disc Golf Academy and still put out free educational content.
Looking at Uli slowmo I didn’t see his hand on the disc.
I love how Uli is a coach and well known pro and still looking for tips to gain distance. Shows what a good coach does!
You never stop learning. The best pros are always open to learning from anyone.

@Uli please add Ezra to power disc golf, he's obviously a talented teacher
🥳

PLus help make the team captain look better right? We know Uli has hooked a lot of folks who come to Discraft up w/discs from his collection too.

Love the simplicity of the form breakdown. Ezra is a great teacher, and Uli is obviously a great student.

There is nothing better than a couple pros talking and working on form. Thanks guys
I feel you. I have increased distance an average of 30ft in just a few weeks. It has opened up so many possibilities and confidence. Thank you so much
Not super shocked on those numbers initially, but wow on that improvement! Guess what I’m trying next… great vid you two!
That's sick man. Always a rush when you get that form to pop!
This was badass! Those tweaks changed so much so fast. Just shows what a pro can do with good information. Ezra wanted those gold nuggets back, lol.

Wonderful video really enjoy this content
So humble.. ❤ Uli you are awesome!
This video made me feel very good (e: as in I'm happy to see the excitement in Uli after improving)
Damn dude nice job. Love the tip about creating the lag. I follow slingshot and love it and he talks about delaying the reach back all the time
This was very cool!
Coachin’ made E-Z!!! Wow..!!! One of the best training videos I’ve ever seen. So simple but extremely effective.

Absolutely. Try this and a few throws he is there.
Not really though, that 555 shot was a 360 max distance line, Uli did improve but he's didnt gain 50 feet in 10 shots
@brekkoh no the 360 shot was the 501 Ezra says it in the vid. 555 was his normal shot.
I’m going to try that this weekend. Good work boys 🙏

5:28 so off topic but holy cow the way Ezra said 'I think he'll be stoked with 500 feet' with phonetic perfection
great fun to see what a difference it makes with technic
475 - coached to 525
Edit: props to Uli for looking to grow at this stage in his career! And for getting coaching from his team as a Captain.
18:12 it's so awesome how oblivious they are to how loud the geese are becoming.
Love the video. 🤘🤘🤘
Usually form vids are an easy skip for me, a 350 max thrower, but this was exciting! Glad I didn't skip. :)

real talk... sitting in on this sesh was sublime 🤙🏼
Great job!
man, I liked this video way too much. that was cool to watch.
love the back round geese !
Great video guys!! Impressive to gain 60ft on the first day. I'm struggling trying to break the 400ft mark. Looks like I got some tips now to go work in the field

Give that Microphone an Award!

Perfect nose angle every time!
Great video uli
I'm thinking you can thrown 480. Keep up the great work and love the tour life pod! My favorite parts are when you don't let Brodie talk over you btw, you got some good takes
Ezra did more for Uli than Drew did for Bodanza. And in just 10 shots 🤣
The molding clay in this video has a lot more potential 😂
Damn man. Were gonna shred beast next year brutha 🤜🤛
450'. well i was wrong! nice work, thanks for the vid.
dude ezra is jacked
Ezra 🐐 👑
Hopefully we'll see y'all next year at Waco!
Before watching it. Im guessing 460 ft
After watching: Ok Big Uli!!! You're gonna have to register that cannon!
Great video Uli! Congrats on getting married too
Goose really trying to get involved at the end of the video...
The old man still learning and trying to get better. Love to see it and how excited they are for eachother. Those geese were super hyped at the end.
