Yeah, just imagine the things that existed that we'll likely never know about. We've been lucky in regards to finding various fossilized creatures so we know some of the things that used to live on the planet, but that's obviously only a small portion. I think it would be truly mind-blowing to see every type of life that's existed throughout Earth's history, so it really is unfortunate that we'll never get that chance. When I was a kid, I used to wish that some advanced extraterrestrial race had literally treated Earth as a zoo and had "recorded" every single thing that's ever taken place, from the formation of the solar system and our planet to the beginning and evolution of all living things. And, in that hope, I had also wished that they'd one day show it all to us -- in video form, I suppose -- after eventually making (peaceful) contact. Despite how unrealistic that is, I'd be lying if I said there wasn't a part of me still hoping and wishing for such a thing to have happened/happen.
Love to your comment because I too like to believe that after we die, we finally get to see (like a video, similar to your fantasy) the history of our planet. We're basically in "god mode" and can look back at certain times or events and then observe them firsthand if we want. How amazing would it be to not only find the answer to every question you have, but actually experience it?
Funfact: Meganeura didn’t extinct because the oxygen levels dropped but because of a new reptile predator that could fly, therefore Meganeura wasn’t at the top of the food chain anymore when it came to flying animals.

One flaw. "The length which air can travel quickly enough by diffusion, in such tiny tubes, is very limited. That is about 1 cm. So that is why insects cannot grow larger than a few centimeters across. If insects were to become very large, they would have to develop lungs, gills or something else."
yeah there really is only a certain maximum size that insects and arthropods can get because of how they breathe essentially. They take in air through their skin, but the square cube law means that since their total volume grows much faster than their surface area (the area of their exoskeleton), their ability to breathe essentially is rapidly outpaced by how much bodymass they need to provide air to. If they got much larger than a person, they just couldn't survive and would be suffocated by their own bodies. But of course it was sea scorpions that really grew into the biggest arthropods ever, millions and millions of years before insects began to dominate the land. Monster like Jaekeloptyrus were so huge they'd probably try to eat you if you ran into one, 2 and a half meters long minus the claws. But still, to call it the era of giant insects would be a bit misleading, since amphibians and fish were much larger and deadlier than their insect and arthropod counterparts. Fish were absolutely massive, beyond compare with any other animals at the time and there were amphibians like Eryops that would have eaten even Arthropleura for breakfast.
In a past life I was a giant insect. Not sure which kind exactly but I know for sure I was a flying insect. I used to swoop down and catch my prey the same way eagles and hawks do today. I was a real badass.
Nope. Square cube law. Their strength would go down if they got large. I keep Madagascan hissing cockroaches and they can barely lift 4x their weight, so I have to be careful when checking up on them that I don’t crush them with their hide. They have very tough exoskeletons but can’t take heavy weight.
One can imagine the genetic evolutionary trajectory of 1 of these insects, say the mantis would evolve into the top species on earth or on another planet.
More like, so sad ther are so many delusional people who can't except there is no man in the sky and science is real. Prove your god, then we will give credit. Overall, at god seems pretty lame and useless ...
@@fk-fy7um yeah I believe in facts ntg else, atheist logic doesn't even make sense, a little bit of science made them like that, they dont do proper research on science, someone created us, the solar system etc u cant just say it happend all by itself because u "cant see god" u cant see air too, u cant see someone's feelings or love etc doesn't mean they dont exist, for example the planets are revolving around the sun with a proper order and motion, it basically proves someone is controlling it, try to use ur common sense.

I can imagine the stench during the dinosaur era. The sheer amount of dinosaur feces and rotting flesh of other dead dinosaurs mixed with the warm and often humid climate must’ve been unbearably disgusting 😣
Imagine the climate change!
You watch too many movies.
What? Earth is too big for it to be a problem, it would be similar to today.

It would be a nightmare in the summer months. 😂
True 😊
0:45: 🦟 During the Carboniferous period, Earth was filled with giant insects, including dragonflies the size of crows and millipedes as long as cars.
3:25: 🐜 High oxygen levels in the atmosphere during a certain period led to giant insects, but it also posed risks due to oxygen toxicity.
6:43: ❄ The formation of the supercontinent Pangea led to changes in ocean currents, wind patterns, and global climate, resulting in lower temperatures and the decline of rainforests and oxygen levels.

You already know what happened in Island of Giant Insects. Imagine a World of Giant Insects.
Imagine flyswatters the size of tennis courts.
Current day dragonflies are the most successful hunter, with a catch-rate of 95%. It'd suck if they were huge.
They'd make a great barbecue.
Good thing there wasn't windshields in those days.
Exploring the era of GIANT INSECTS is a fascinating journey into Earth's prehistoric past.
Millipedes aren't insects. They're arthropods.
..and they taste like lobster when sauteed in butter
Nice fantasy. Could be a movie.
Shut up bro, and get your head from out of the clouds.
2:10 it's basically half the length of the biggest known snake we have today
Funfact: Meganeura didn’t extinct because the oxygen levels dropped but because of a new reptile predator that could fly, therefore Meganeura wasn’t at the top of the food chain anymore when it came to flying animals.

It never happened. Dinasaur's. In the bible called Behemoth or beast or dragons. God created all. They lived among us.
The Hebrew word behemoth has the same form as the plural of the Hebrew noun בהמה behemah meaning 'beast', suggesting an augmentative meaning 'great beast'.
Scripture.
Job 40
King James Version
40 Moreover the Lord answered Job, and said,
2 Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.
3 Then Job answered the Lord, and said,
4 Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth.
5 Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.
6 Then answered the Lord unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
7 Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.
8 Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?
9 Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?
10 Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.
11 Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him.
12 Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.
13 Hide them in the dust together; and bind their faces in secret.
14 Then will I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee.
15 Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.
16 Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.
17 He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.
18 His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.
19 He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.
20 Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.
21 He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.
22 The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.
23 Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.
24 He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.
Leviathan.
Job 41
King James Version
41 Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?
2 Canst thou put an hook into his nose? or bore his jaw through with a thorn?
3 Will he make many supplications unto thee? will he speak soft words unto thee?
4 Will he make a covenant with thee? wilt thou take him for a servant for ever?
5 Wilt thou play with him as with a bird? or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens?
6 Shall the companions make a banquet of him? shall they part him among the merchants?
7 Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons? or his head with fish spears?
8 Lay thine hand upon him, remember the battle, do no more.
9 Behold, the hope of him is in vain: shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him?
10 None is so fierce that dare stir him up: who then is able to stand before me?
11 Who hath prevented me, that I should repay him? whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine.
12 I will not conceal his parts, nor his power, nor his comely proportion.
13 Who can discover the face of his garment? or who can come to him with his double bridle?
14 Who can open the doors of his face? his teeth are terrible round about.
15 His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.
16 One is so near to another, that no air can come between them.
17 They are joined one to another, they stick together, that they cannot be sundered.
18 By his neesings a light doth shine, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.
19 Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out.
20 Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron.
21 His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.
22 In his neck remaineth strength, and sorrow is turned into joy before him.
23 The flakes of his flesh are joined together: they are firm in themselves; they cannot be moved.
24 His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, as hard as a piece of the nether millstone.
25 When he raiseth up himself, the mighty are afraid: by reason of breakings they purify themselves.
26 The sword of him that layeth at him cannot hold: the spear, the dart, nor the habergeon.
27 He esteemeth iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood.
28 The arrow cannot make him flee: slingstones are turned with him into stubble.
29 Darts are counted as stubble: he laugheth at the shaking of a spear.
30 Sharp stones are under him: he spreadeth sharp pointed things upon the mire.
31 He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment.
32 He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary.
33 Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear.
34 He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.
Amen.

Here’s a problem with basic biological / invertebrate classification. Many of the things mentioned aren’t insects.
Giants are definitely real these bugs were small for them 😂
One flaw. "The length which air can travel quickly enough by diffusion, in such tiny tubes, is very limited. That is about 1 cm. So that is why insects cannot grow larger than a few centimeters across. If insects were to become very large, they would have to develop lungs, gills or something else."
The atmosphere on Earth was much different during those times. Those giant insects wouldn't survive today.
Highly recommend to watch it at 1.5x speed. It gets normal, I promise
Imagine we all had 2.5 mtr long Millipedes to travel around on instead of cars but we still had that insatiable urge to modify the chuff out of them

Spiders are not insects.
@@mrmethane10I know.
Insects have 3 body parts and spiders are only having two body parts.
And they are friendlier than wasps in fact.
More terrifying then dinosaurs
7:40 frogs are amphibians not reptiles, though I get your point.
What if magic existed
yeah there really is only a certain maximum size that insects and arthropods can get because of how they breathe essentially.
When insects were giant, this was probably as a result of much higher oxygen at that time.
good morning everyone

In a past life I was a giant insect. Not sure which kind exactly but I know for sure I was a flying insect. I used to swoop down and catch my prey the same way eagles and hawks do today. I was a real badass.
Really interesting video.
Whoever told the narrator to speak in that gameshow host affectation should be slapped really hard.
Exoskeleton makes insects capable to lift around 50 times their weight. Giant insect could probably lift tonnes?
Nope. Square cube law. Their strength would go down if they got large. I keep Madagascan hissing cockroaches and they can barely lift 4x their weight, so I have to be careful when checking up on them that I don’t crush them with their hide. They have very tough exoskeletons but can’t take heavy weight.
