VDD description.
VDASH Dongle (VDD) is device which is plugged in OBD II socket in your car and provides online monitoring, control and diagnostic of your car.
VDD is OBD device equipped with 2G GSM module and M2M SIM-card, special CAN transceiver for deeper CAN BUS diagnostics, accelerometer. VDD size is approx 5-cm x 4,5-cm x 2,5-cm.

VDASH Dongle (VDD) is developed by (D5T5 s.r.o. / VolvoCesky.cz) since 2015 and is is fully compatible with all Volvo cars made between 1999 - now (P1, P2, P3, SPA, CMA, P80).
Newly it is possible to decode CEM PIN code for P2 MY2005-2012 (excluding V8 and 3,2) and P1 2004-2011 (excluding Euro5 engines). Remote Engine start on SPA,CMA with auto transmission. Remote engine heater start if equipped on all Volvos
Together with Dongle hardware there are iOs and Android application to be installed to your cell phone where you can monitor and control these functions.

I've had mine for around 2 years. Saved my ass a few times as I could diagnose codes and reset them. And I just love monitoring the things in my car.
Ive seen these around and always thought it would be nice to have for diagnostics especially with how cumbersome dice is to tote around and ongoing issues with direct install VIDA. Not to mention i have like $1000 worth of gear "just sitting around"
When i do need it, I have my dice unit hooked up to a surface pro 7, if this could replace vida in the way of getting granular within the can network run all the resets and perhaps install fuel maps and other things, i think id probably buy it and just leave ny unconnected VIDA VM on my home desktop for parts and procedures reference.

It's really neat but with the subscription is probably too expensive to me. I would think purchasing subscription or extra cost will be more reasonable for multiple vehicles, but not for use on my one vehicle on a budget. Still a very neat device! Looks like it took a lot of work to make so I understand trying to earn some money on it.

@volvosweden Is there an option to show i.e. oil temperatures in the DIM (P2)? Like engine oil temp, ATF oil temp, etc. I found "DIM Text" in the features, but there's no further information...

But i have a question: Will the extender functions remain after the dongle is removed? Or do they reset if remove him from the OBD socket?

Hello, yes, it works when the car is off. The cars power consumption in deep sleep mode is around 15-20mA, the VDD has the consumption in deep sleep around 5-10 mA. If your car has good battery, then it should survive at least 4-6 weeks and it should be still able to start the engine. Of course you can easily monitore the battery voltage from the app and get critical low voltage notification

This looks great, I'll definitely being considering one of these for my XC70. Might even drop some hints for Santa! On a separate note can I ask what the % of darkness is on the tinted rear windows on your XC70? I have the same colour paint and am looking to get my rear windows tinted also.

You mean close not shut off the engine. The dongle need to be connected to car for the functions to work

I'm curious how this compares to the AP200. That device costs only about $60, uses bluetooth, and comes with lifetime license for one vehicle. On Mercedes it is nearly the equivalent of dealer level diagnostics and functions. Ever tried it on a P3 XC70?

Just a quick note - I have been to multiple EU countries. Never saw 2G network. Everybody is using at last 4G network with some countries having 5G.

Hi I am wondering what the point of the subscription is? Personally, I am not looking to extend the features and am only interested in the live data such as DTC, temperatures, fuel left etc. If I cannot see this basic information without the subscription, could you please recommend me a product that will? VDD connects to your devices via cell phone GSM network. It does not support local bluetooth connection. The 70 euro a year is only like 6 euro a month. I am using the VDD in both of my Volvos and I love it. I dont know any other product that can recommend.

I understand better now why the subscription exists. It is unfortunate that there's no BT capability but if there really are no other competitors offering the same features, I'll consider the value it brings. Thanks for the replies!

No because my XC70 does not have that feature.
Only seem to be working on Automatic car- once.
Maybe there are some kind of workaround for it, just another code ex. when the car is being towed away. But haven't gotten it to work yet!^

What’s the difference?
it is completely different thing, then VIDA. VIDA is only diagnostic software used with diagnostics cable. This is independent device, which gives you online connectivity to the car + extending functionality (like remotely open windows, start fuel heater, see where the car is parked,...)
Still can not decode D5 CEM Pins so config changes revert after 24hrs :(
I would try different DICE and VIDA.

Ist dein 2007er Volvo s80 nicht mit Bluetooth kompatibel? Auf Seite 141 der Betriebsanleitung steht wie man es verbindet. Auf z.B. volvocars kannst du die Anleitung downloaden.

if you have to pay monthly to have this dongle work it would seem like a massive waste of money
I'm deciding that is the case. It is convenient having all the remote features, checking status of your car along with a Volvo code reader.
@msschill means its a waste of money at 70 something eur per month just to open your trunk with a remote lol. By the way my 2011 does this anyway just hold the trunk button for longer
