    Appreciate the golden nuggets of wisdom in your setup advice! Roll and Vertical Rotation settings are indeed crucial and seem to vary with the physical arrangement of one's monitors. With my 3x27 setup, the configurations differ slightly. And the tip about scaling down from 4k is pure gold-what a game-changer! Thanks for elevating our rig configurations!

    I literally got my triple screen setup working today. As a simmer using the near-study level WB Sim add-on for the Cessna 172, I am using FS2020 to build skills and knowledge ahead of embarking on my PPL. Three screens is a must-have for this, without doubt. I spent a few hours playing with the perspective settings and came to the same conclusions as yourself - that it's all about the eyeball position of the pilot. The only thing I am still struggling with is my right screen - I just can't quite get the perspective of the last few inches of the cockpit panel to align with the centre. Another point to mention, is the difference when choosing to centre oneself right in the middle of the cockpit as if there was only one yoke in dead centre. This kinda feels better overall but it isn't an accurate representation of the 172 cockpit layout. End of the day, if you're using FS2020 for flight training, small inaccuracies across 3 screens becomes almost unnoticeable. One last comment to make is despite copying your settings in FS2020 and in NVIDEA, my frame rates are not good and I am using a RTX 3060 ti. I will keep tinkering. Thanks so much for your content on triple screens - it has helped me loads.

      I am so glad you find value in my videos . I thank you for watching. I'm sorry you can't get the right screen to fit.i wish we could do like a screen share and troubleshoot. I have a discord channels set up .we only have a few members . If I can grow that community maybe we can all hop in there and help each other out with individual issues. I am also on my way to a ppl. I have no hard timeline but I myself am also using the 172 WB to simulate reality. Lastly , I like what you're saying about centering the in-game view in the center screen perfectly but only if I then get to slide over and sit biased to the left of my main screen . Lol I would need 80 inch screens to make this feel accurate but it is not out of the realm of reality . Here's a secret , don't tell my wife ......one day ...I will upgrade to triple 75 or 80 inch screens ....just wait ... 😂 😆 🤣 ( If she reads this post my sim room will mysteriously go up in flames )

      I totally agree on the position of the pilots' chair, in my opinion it should be to the most left of the cockpit giving it a more accurate view of the 16«72 cockpit (or any other plane for that matter. But it´s just my point of view. Let us know how that goes and post some pictures or videos.

      @@DaSimSimma Okay so I played some more (admittedly on my 3 x 32inch) and, now I am flying the study level Piper Arrow III from Justflight, I need to position myself dead centre of cockpit to visually sync best with the 3 screens to create most comfortable experience. I can shift over the left again for cruise, but being centre also represents my physical relationship to my 3 screens.

    Great VID, love the setup. You mentioned you weren't sure why some people would angle the side monitors the way they did. Maybe I can shed some light on that. I'm what you could call a lazy gamer. I don't sit in a regular gaming chair that is upright. I usually sit in my recliner and have my controls moved where I need them so I can be comfortable. The main reason I angle mine is because I'll be at an angle from reclining so they will have to be adjusted to the focal points a little different than if I were to sit upright and straight.

    Very helpfull video. And great sim you've got there ! Really looking forward to having one like this one day, for the winter, when flying is not easy in the northern hemisphere. Great job !
    Although, while recently fiddling with this MSFS feature, I thought a bit about how you understood it. And I'm not sure you are right about the lateral rotation offset parameter.
    Because, if you draw a triple monitor setup from above, you'll find out that your point of view is always at the same angle from the center to a side screen, as your side screen angle from the center one. If your head is on the center of this "screens arc", these two angles will always be the same.
    In fact, MSFS doesn't know the real life dimensions of one's screens, and therefore, its in game field of view doesn't match one's real life field of view. It only matches it when one actually sets up screens 90° apart from one another and sits right in the middle of them.
    Which makes me think that MSFS approximately shows an image with a 90°-ish field of view (45° left + 45° right) for each screen, which is more or less what you can easily get IRL with your giant screens 👍🙂. But this is also why one has to get the lateral rotation offset parameter close to 90° (you got 88°), in order not to have an image gap between screens.
    I remember that X-Plane allowed fiddling with the field of view when rendering a new window. You can do it in MSFS too, if you tune the zoom parameter in general graphic options. This is the only way (at the moment), to get the in game FOV, close to the real life FOV, whatever the size of one's screens.
    That's it. Sorry for the geometrics lesson, I know it can be boring. But for those who are using less bigger screens than yours, it's important to know that they're not gonna set a lateral rotation offset parameter even close to their real life head angle from one screen to another. It will be close to 90° anyway, regardless of the angle or size of the screens.

      @DaSimSimma  Před rokem +1

      Thank you so much for such an in-depth explanation ! This is my second attempt at a reply since I'm using speak to text while I'm doing something else. My last attempt ended up half in English half in Romanian...lol...don't ask !
      I think you make very very valid points. I do agree with you that at the end of the day will arrive at 90. But then again that makes what I said correct too that it's in reference to your eye point 90° from Center seems to bring both side screens into alignment. I also understand and agree with you that if you use the scroll wheel on the mouse you can zoom in and out and change the field of view therefore adjusting the overlap further to reduce or enhance it. The very disappointing thing about this whole situation is that I had to come up with my own explanation and you had to come up with your own also. That is very sad when you think that this triple screen technology has been around for over a decade. In that many other games out there provide this technology and in a way that it's very easy to understand and relatable to real life. I am also very annoyed, that after reading such an in-depth explanation is yours, I am still slightly confused. And that is not a reflection of how you described it but a reflection of how confusing things are set up by microsoft. The fact that this is becoming an interpretive dance rather than facts is it the core of the whole problem.
      Anyways, I really do appreciate such effort that you put into explaining and if you find out more or if you have a way of clarifying further for me I would be glad to hear some more theories. I'm no way deflecting your proposal but rather admitting defeat : either this thing clearly doesn't make sense or I am not intelligent enough to understand this unnecessarily difficult issue before us .
      Happy flight my friend . Please come back often and continue to provide your insight !

      @@DaSimSimma Yeah, flight simulation... always been a bad sheep in terms of ergonomy or easy to use interface stuff ! When you realize we had to wait untill MSFS to get nice light reflection effects and be able to fly at 30fps without needing a state of the art computer to run a flight sim, you really measure how deep is the problem with flight sims etc...
      And believe me, I'm a train driver in France, the sims used for training are still ten to twenty years late in terms of graphics, when professional aviation simulator makers can afford to keep up improving a little. But through the years it's getting better and better ! Thanks for your answers ! Have some good flying and driving !

      I'm so sorry for the late reply. I'm not active on CZcams much these days I moved my operation over to twitch. It's funny you say that about performance because the other day I played without streaming online. Streaming for me takes at least 25% of my pc resources. Once I stop streaming and continue playing I swear to you that I got anywhere from 55 to 59 constant fps. It was in a general aviation aircraft flying around dubai. I haven't played the game that much since I made this video since I got into truck simulator and racing but I'm surprised to see how far we've come and how well the game plays.

Next stop on the menu is a better computer motion simulation in OLED 65-in screens. I don't intend to stop any day. The other reason this is interesting is because I've also considered the Sim rig versus getting a pilot's license. One of my friends at work has a license and it's an absolutely amazing feeling to enjoy the fruit of his labor with him. Unfortunately that hobby is a lot more expensive than just a pilot's license, and I'm sure you already know that. That's not to say either or, but it's much easier to maintain my hobby than to go and pursue his. Stay. The course my friend get yourself a Sim rig that works in the winter summer fall. It works when it's raining. It works when you're sad and when you're happy. I hope I'm making my point. If you want to take a flight, find a friend. What I was trying to express is : if you rotate the screen in the options you have to physically toate the screens in real life . I didn't want to appear as if I am talking crap but here is the guy who did what I am describing and ... I have no idea why you would do such a thing .. czcams.com/video/jgWf2m5z0w8/video.html

I fly the Horizon 787-9 with the default instrument panel and 3 monitor Volair Sim chassis, and if the horizon is straight across the 3 monitors, the flight deck structure and instrument panel on the right and left monitors are at absurd angles. You seem to have nailed in with your Airbus video. Thanks for any information. PS. Volair Sim monitor mounts are fixed at 25-30 degrees. I’ve watched Russ Barlow and still can’t get any results. No, the point is to extend the side views below the bottom of the middle screen. Traditional three-screens-in-a-line setups are compromised by having the middle screen mounted high, usually high enough to clear a yoke. This seriously compromises the side views because it restricts the downwards visibility. You can mitigate this by mounting the side screens lower, but then you start to lose the top of the view. Putting your side screens in portrait orientation is another option, but the 'twisted' display gives a great compromise in my experience. The video linked by the OP was just an experiment to see if MSFS can now do this as well as P3D View Groups. The benefits are more obvious in this video: czcams.com/video/1KmY397X9LY/video.html

All of that to say , of course I want OLED 120HZ tv but I settled for middle of the road. Second was size consideration . I think 55 to 65 is the sweet spot. Any bigger and it looks out of scale in real life. Any smaller and you might as well buy a gaming monitors at 1440p .it sounds to me like I should make a video to walk through all these ideas ....thanks for asking !

      @DaSimSimma  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Hi friend, this question comes up quite often. I don't expect you to go back and read every comment but the answer is pretty simple. You have to go on Amazon and order yourself a cable that starts off as display port and ends up as HDMI. They make those cables. But you must be extremely careful. I am not lying to you. When I tell you that I ordered over 15 cables. Some will say that they handle the high bit rate at 4k and 60 hertz but they will not. Furthermore, the problem you're going to have is if your TVs can handle 120 hertz those cables are going to be even more rare to come by. They will be available. They might be expensive and they might have to be sent back a couple times until you get ones that work properly. The way you know a cable doesn't work is literally no image comes out so don't get frustrated. That's just how it works. Please come back here and let me know after you've resolved this issue. I'm very curious and very excited for you to get this going

    Wouldn't Vertical rotation offset (or a combo of vertical + roll) help with what I like to call the "waterfall" effect that you talked about at 3:20 (when you sit too high/low)? As an avid sim racer I'm also well aware of the importance of getting your eyeline at screen center...for older sims (AMS1, AC). For most modern sims with good triple support, you have the option of adjusting where your eyeline is, so you won't get that warped waterfall effect on the side monitors (iRacing, Raceroom and a couple others all have settings to account for this)...I think it's called Horizon offset in iRacing. I drive mostly modern F1 type cars and have positioned my rig to have that kind of layout (reclined seating position, wheel positioned high), so my eyeline is very low relative to the center of the monitor.
    I've been trying to decide whether to buy MSFS for years now, I tried it briefly when it first released and they didn't have multiple rendering then, so I said I'm not paying for it until it does. MSFS is on sale now for a week so now I'm reconsidering, but if there's no way to compensate for a horizon mismatch then I might have to skip it again, as I barely do any flying compared to racing.

      There are a few options . One is called Air Manager and you can use a fourth and even a fifth monitor. most new graphic cards have 4 outputs and most CPUS have an additional HDMI for a total of 5. Do not expect this to be flawless. That many monitors will have an impact on performance. Cheaper options are to use tablets runing Airmanager mobile or , even easire SIM DASHBOARD ! , in some of my older videos you can see me use these two tablets and displaying all guages using wifi ! It sounds to me like i need to make a video ....hmmmm

    Hi. I've seen the specs in your description and would just like to ask something about the graphics card and monitors please. Is the card the standard 3080 (10GB) or is it the TI with more memory. How many outputs does it have and what are they and what connections are on the screens, ie is it display port to HDMI; display port to display port. etc Would you consider doing a video on choice of screens - not the size but other factors that affect performance (I've read somewhere that some screens can have a latency that can make images lag and the specs of the monitors which look complicated when you read them are difficult to understand and can make a big difference). Kind regards

      These are all very good questions ! A video is in order !!! I promise. To give you the quick answer . I have 3 Vizio gaming TV's . They only do 60hrz Wich means I cannot see more than 60fps even if my card could output more. I have a founders edition Nvidia 3080. It is the basic one . All TV's are hooked up to the 3 Display ports on the back of the card . I bought specific cables that go from DO To HDMI and can support 4k at 60hz. That question also comes up a lot. As I said before my best videos come from questions like this . You have no idea .... Please give me till late next week . Quick side note . The card has 3 DO ports and 1 HDMI. people use that last one to run a touch screen for air manager but it is a hog on fps and resources. I found a way to use the additional HDMI on the mother board ( look at the back of your computer) they say that reduces the load on your gou since the CPU has to run that image . I'm still getting over 40 to 50 fps using in in this fashion....This is another video in the making ;)

    I am just in the planning stages of building a home sim and I am trying to get my displays correct. Did I understand you correctly? Did you say your side displays were at 72 degrees from the front display? I have seen other C-172 sims set ups (on youtube) with the side displays at 90 degrees. I have some actual time in a C-172 and when looking out the side window, the wing appear pretty close to perpendicular to the fuselage. Wouldn't setting the displays at a 72 degree angle skew this appearance? One of the reasons I am concerned about this is setting up the displays at such angles would increase the width of the sim considerably.

    • @DaSimSimma
      @DaSimSimma  Před 10 měsíci

      You have to think of a from two different angles. On one hand it's the angles of the physical side screens in relation to the center screen. On the other hand there are the angles that you can adjust in the simulator
      The angles of your TV's in real life depend on you in the amount of space that you have. In order to feel amorous that is recommended that you wrap them around you as much as you can all the way up to 90 degrees . The simulator itself allows you to account for your own settings so that you can get it to look correct. You have to be careful when trying to match my settings exactly those things really work for me in my situation but there are so many variables that they might not exactly translate to what you want to do. The whole point in my answer is : you are not locked into a certain measurement you can do whatever you want as long as you mess with the settings and get them to look good in the end

The biggest issue i have now is being annoyed that this isn't a feature in all games. I don't know the technology behind it but is it really that hard to do? To run a proper triple screen setup like this, you must use individual output ports into individual TVs. You cannot use a HDMI splitter. Most new graphic cards will have a minimum of three outputs on the back and they are usually DisplayPort. My TVs are HDMIs in my graphics card is DP but they make cables that go between the two. The start is one thing in the end is another.
