@@danktoast8004 Magnum Research and IWI are very clear about stating that the Desert Eagle is gas operated. It's not a blowback design at all. There's a piston that pushes the slide/bolt back and cycles the action.
Sorry your mistaken, this is a gas operated pistol ! The gas tube is integral and under the barrel, that’s why it’s a Desert Eagle the gas operation gives it the ability to shoot 50 AE 44 Mag and 357 Mag in a Pistol Platform!
The mark xix was my first pistol I ever owned blame Hollywood blame video games whatever. I absolutely love the desert eagle in .44 mag. (It's gas operated when you pull the slide back the bolt is right there) I used to wear big pants and shirts you couldn't tell me this wasn't a viable choice for concealed carry. Sure we don't have black bears where I'm at but 1000+ ft lbs sounds good to me.
Thanks for this wonderful video! Please let me know about this. I heard in L5 models MR use a set screw in the firing pin stop plate to prevent it from falling off during shooting. Could you please let me know if it is true? Thanks a lot!
Excellent review. Miss my Desert Eagle in .50AE Paid: $1,200. And especially my DE .44 Magnum Paid: $685 to $785? Concerned about jamming issues with the L5. Had to file down the lip of my magazine on the Desert Eagle .44.
I really want a Deagle eventually but if I buy one it's definitely going to be the regular .50AE version in titanium gold. A .44 Magnum one is more tempting because I would have ammo compatibility but meh, no half measures. I'll spend $1,400 and still not have what I really want.
Had one for a few days and wound up trading it back too the store I got it from. Jams a lot, had one point were the slide was jamed closed. Brand new gun and just didn't function well.
Go to any average gun store where I'm from, and they will look at you like you don't know what you're talking about when you mention this gun. It's like mr. Snuffleupagus.
Lance Sensenig no 38 special is not powerful enough is cycle the slide also cheap ammo does not cycle that well at all. After it is run in and with good quality ammo it runs flawlessly
Dude, you’ve got THE Perfect Pistol (seems somehow demeaning to call it THAT, but..Artillery Piece, Perhaps?) & not to be a brown noser, BUT you got your video ‘pace’/speed down PAT!! No awkward silences where it’s drawn-out too long & you’ve got some timed info placed just right ~ KUDOS🇺🇸
Never understood why anyone would want a Desert Eagle in 357. It's .50 or nothing in this gun, especially with the reliability issues in the 357 and 44.
That's a fair point, but even in .357 or .44 this isn't really the kind of range gun that you take out and shoot hundreds off rounds through. I've since sold my DE, but when I had it, I used it for hunting and at the end of a range trip I'd put 5-10 rounds through it for shits and giggles sometimes. The reliability issues in .357 and .44 are what would keep me from purchasing the gun in those calibers. However, whatever works for you! Go for it!
44 and 357 were designed with revolvers in mind. The 50 ae was made especially for the desert eagle. Or auto loading pistols. My 44 worked fine as long as I used jacket hollow points. not semi jackets not soft points nothing lower than 240 grain.
I believe that honor still goes to the Glock 20 with 15 rounds of 10mm on tap. If that's good enough for polar bears in Denmark it's good enough for anything in North America.
Why even go with a 357 in a Deagle when you can get a 10mm double stack?? It's way too much gun for too little power. 50, 429 or 44...ok but 357...I don't get it.
Why go for a Glock 20 when you can get a magnum that can rapid fire dump with some accuracy? Glock 20 is an unfun shoot and my g26 with 17 rounds is all I need for humans.
I don't understand why anyone living in one of the free states would buy this version. The type of people who buy a desert eagle want the heavy 50 cal version because that is the definitive one.
@@ballislife2351 good job attempting to thumbs up your own comment, but no, there isn't hahaha. Change the barrel, bolt, and spring and you can change calibers.
The pistol isn't even yours and you're corrupting the original condition ( using a sock no less to remove excess oil). It's no wonder you didn't know anything about the weapon. Basically you threw together a video. And by the way the audio was terrible. I would suggest if you want to make videos, you should be very familiar with them!
I've seen a couple of those videos. And it's not actually the gun. It's the ammo that's being used. If you're using cheap ammo, it's gonna jam every time.
It’s also the shooter that sucks. I have owned 3 Desert Eagles (two 50 AE, one 44 magnum). Never jam when I fire them. Occasionally jam with friends firing them that don’t hold them properly. Hold it like you mean it. Don’t limp wrist it. You’ll be fine. Too many people refuse to believe that THEY could be the problem. Put pride aside and ask yourself if you honestly know how to properly hold a handgun. If the answer is no, then go buy a Glock or a HK and be happy with life. They will cycle regardless of how sloppy you hold them.

It is blowback but it uses the gas to blow the slide back

I'm glad this is the first comment, and I agree. It uses gas to move the bolt back.
I prefer the term, "piston driven"
@5:24 No, it's not recoil operated. It IS gas operated. There is a gas tube and piston.
Im almost absolutely positive that the l5 is gas operated like the .50AE mark 19 counterpart..
I have one and can confirm that it is gas operated
Ok but there is a big difference between 357 and 50 AE...😂
#1 (429 DE)
#2 (50 AE)
#3 (44 magnum)
#4 (357 magnum)
Did u get it now😎

MAN I BEEN TRYING GET ONE BUT THERE OUT OF STOCK THO....
Good luck finding one. I have looked at every online gun dealer and every single one are out of stock.
They did you a favor. Save $1,000 and buy an 8 shot 357 Magnum revolver. Way more reliable and it probably still weighs less.
lol Yes, that is true. Even a good ol' fashioned six shot will give me better results.

I heard that fingerprints get burned off the brass from all the heat. It makes sense but better safe than sorry.
In stock at Buds 6/11/18
I’m going to have to get this L5 version since the normal version is overweight for my state. Still cool to have in the collection though.
I have a Desert Eagle Mouse pad.
I bought a Desert Eagle cleaning mat off eBay.
I also bought a Desert Eagle 1911g .45ACP

Can you still fire 38.? Probably not right because it’s a mag ? If anybody knows I would appreciate it
No. 38 doesn't have enough powder to run the gas system.
I got the l5 in 50ae and 44mag 😁 and a mark xix in 50ae 😁

How much this gun?
MSRP is $1790. you'd likely see if for somewhere around $1500 and $1700 in most stores or online resellers.
when i would live in the USA i would have a few of them
It is a gas operated system not recoil!
Carbellas has them
L5 in 50ae would be the best backwoods compact lightweight auto.
This thing is still far from Lightweight! ;-)

For sexiness, I'd take this gun. But for practicality, I'd rather have the Coonan Classic in .357.

that's my gun i have my hands like a bear THAT will be perfect for mi i will be able to handle easily
It's cool but I'd just stick with an 8 shot revolver. Probably weighs less, definitely more reliable, and you only lose 1 shot.
I definitely put Al DE into "cool to have" category. I can't imagine carrying even this 'Light weight model"
Its a 2 handed gun,so the safety lever shouldn't be a problem
