I've bought seven Deagles in .50AE in the past 6 months. After my first, realizing I had to brace my elbow a little more, I also have not had a failure of any sort. I've had others fire them also, and they get failure to go into battery as the most common, but I haven't had failures with them since learning I needed to brace my elbow a little more than I normally would.

My next desert eagle will be an L5. I own a L6. I carry it and absolutely love it. Im a lefty and keep in in half cock when carried. It eliminated the use of the safety and slide bite isnt a problem at least for me. I too have @ 300 rnds with no hiccups. Only magazine problems. No failure to feed but just reload is tricky. To mitigate the heft of the gun you need a good steel band reinforced leather belt. And a good leather pancake holster. The DE is a movie star and needs to be treated as such. And just like a movie star, you'll get looks when carrying one.

Owning one of these myself, I can't emphasize enough on how much you DON'T want to carry this, unless of course you don't care about your hearing. It is eardrum shattering, deafeningly loud.

@@Coolguy6783 I've got a a 7 1/2 inch 44 Redhawk, great gun. The DE 50AE is also alot of fun to shoot - brutal recoil and very loud, draws considerable interest at the range. Fantastic gun but an epically poor choice to carry.

How is the weight on the L5? Is appendix carry even feasible with this weapon? Or is your only complaint the sound signature?

    • @hughb5092

@@Auldus It's uncomfortably heavy, unreliable (not unusual) for this gun + I mean eardrum puncturing, deafeningly loud. This has to be one of the worst selections for carry options. The Israelis never carried it and they developed it (IMI) ... This is a FUN range gun and nothing more.

By the way the Home Defense solution has also been finalized, by Jason Hanson.
Desert Eagle .50AE with a couple extra magazines.
    Why on earth?
    - As much firepower as a 20 Gauge slug, stopping power.
    - Hollowpoints may have reduced barrier penetration.
    - 7+1 round capacity and quick to reload.
    - Portable and can be Hidden, retrieved quickly.
    - Unlikely to be used for anything else.

    • @maximusjoseppi5904
      @maximusjoseppi5904  Před 3 měsíci

its a bad home defense option... if you were to use it for that, you would need one with a rail and a light on it, but being that rounds limited is a huge problem. home invasions, burglaries are usually multiple assailants so theres absolutely no reason to use this over a silenced AR in 300bo. you arent limited on size for a home defense gun so nothing can compete with the versatility, size, firepower, and effectiveness of a silenced 300bo AR pistol/sbr. if all you had was a handgun for some reason, 8 rounds is way too little... you should be using a full size 9mm with 21+ rounds.

I had to slap the top of my 44 xix during break in to send the slide into battery For just the first 50 rounds or so. That recoil spring is seriously stiff brand new. after that it was perfect. My only complaints like you regard the "ambidextrous" safety. I would use both hands lol. My biggest complaint about the safety is after a couple hundred rounds the safety screw will work its self loose, and will fall into safety after shooting so make a habit of snugging the safety screw up from time to time I'd be pissed if i lost that screw. I've never experienced the slide bite. Wow

I have the L5 in black on black.
Gotta use Magnum Research brand Hollowpoints. Anything else and it jams like a btch.
I notice your bullet's look slotted at the nose just like MR's. That's probably why you get no malfunctions.
That said: for home defense, I'd use my Desert Eagle 1911g .45ACP instead.
