- Another HUGE blow to the wrestling world. The Iron Sheik has died. Here are some words from my heart about an amazing athlete and dear friend. Thanks to Pro Wrestling Illustrated for the wonderful images used in my tribute video.
Sheiky Baby was incredibly entertaining. He lived his gimmick’s demeanor, but outside kayfabe, his heart was huge. Rest in power, Hossein Khosrow Ali Vaziri.

@Zombie Fulci my favorite Journeyman, Johnny Rodz is still alive and training guys out of a gym in Bklyn NYC ! He trained a guy at my job. He's running and promoting shows also.

@@Bushmaster10MM can't believe you're saying that. The guys from back then all said he was literally trash in the ring but was an excellent trainer to a degree. And that degree is showmanship. All his guys were great showman but horrible wrestlers. Perfect example are the Dudley's.

Losing the heart and soul of my eras of pro wrestling more and more with each passing day.
I still have his action figure. I got it as a Christmas gift when I was a child back in 1986.
The world is sadder without Superstar Billy Graham and the Iron sheik thank you 2 men you made my childhood ROCK!

Gonna miss this guy. His late career resurgence was great, and it all started with Dan Maloney or Dan mirade who's also dead as well.

Iron Shiek is one of those guys who was not only a major star during his prim wrestling years, but managed to connect with new fans in his retirement via hilarious shoot promos and I'd imagine many people got introduced to him via that excellent documentary. If you haven't seen The Sheik, it's up there as one of the best wrestling documentaries. I know he's had drug issues, so I'm glad he was able to enjoy a life well into old age instead of dying young like so many others in the wrestling business. Rest in Power Iron Sheik.

This one hurts so very much, growing up he was my absolute favorite wrestler and as the yrs went on, loved seeing him whenever he made a appearance, his HOF speech was the best thing ever, will always remember you as the greatest, rest now as we forever think of you Sheiky Baby, "Mr camera man, Zoom in" 💔😢
I didn't start watching wrestling until the mid 2000s but The Iron Sheik is my favorite wrestler of all time, I just recently found out about him and I respect the legend forever. He will make you humble. RIP Sheiky Baby!

Man, what a year for wrestling deaths; Lanny Poffo, Butch, Superstar Graham and now the Iron Sheik, ughhh. One of the greatest wrestlers and characters ever, truly one of a kind. Ironically, the day before he died, I was watching his last match on Saturday Night's Main Event from 1987 (Sheik/Volkoff vs Can-Am Connection).
One of the last to get true heat. It ain't the same anymore at all. Another piece of my childhood gone.

Good Morning Bill. I have one of the classic thumb wrestling toys to the left of my computer screen. The Iron Sheik, sitting in a Pac-Man mug. It will stay there. Respect The Legend. Thanks for your contributions to journalism over the years. Although I would never watch wrestling today, the old days are memories I cherish. Reading PWI was a great lesson in storytelling. Very grateful.

This is and has been becoming to common for many years. I met the Sheik many times in Medford, Massachusetts, A good guy, May He rest in peace I hope He goes to see Allah and humble him. : ) No Hogan without Sheik
I was there at MSG 1/23 /1984 Sheik made Hulkamania and we should not forget it
He signed autographs for some kids at a gym he and I belonged to.

I met the Iron Sheik back in 1997 when I was 25 years old at my local Walmart where he was signing autographs and taking pictures with fans. I couldn’t believe he was here in
Easton MD. He was so nice. I got a picture with him and he even autographed it for me. Rip to the WWF Champion.

Of all of the wrestling deaths that have occurred in my lifetime (i'm 41), this one hurts the most. I can't put my finger on exactly why...but I had a soft spot for the Sheik.
