Even though I wasn't watching it regularly at the time, I remember a lot of comments and speculation about this series not having 'Star Trek' in the title. I can't recall if it was added in a later season or after the show ended, but since I began watching and enjoying it, I've never felt that it wasn't 'real,' or didn't belong. You could make the argument that it never would have happened if Lucas hadn't done his prequels, but Enterprise wasn't out to deconstruct or 'fix' the Original Series the way a lot of reimaginings do. I believe it stayed within the framework. My biggest gripe with it is undoubtedly the 'Time Lord's element popping up whenever things get too intense. I really liked the Q/Picard dynamic; this, not so much.
Looking forward to Season 2 and beyond. Keep it coming!
