Book illustrator Lynne Chapman talks about becoming an illustrator. An Open College of the Arts interview session. You can find out more about Lynne Chapman on her website - www.lynnechapma...
Watched this video years ago. Hopefully I can become a children's book illustrator, I'm working on my portfolio now and this video gave me lots of inspiration everytime.
what a lovely woman, i like people that enjoy life and emit that nice vibe. And, a parts from that, she is also incredible beautiful on the outside too, amazing eyes and cute face.
Such a delightful personality! Lynne, I think you could talk about anything, even the most boring things, and that would be still fascinating. It's like the music of a stream, pure and clean, like the water coming from the mountain. Pascal:)
I just loved hearing your story about the evolution of your art career! I too have transformed and have worn many hats throughout and have just been tagged to illustrate a children's book for the first time. It's quite daunting but so exciting! I have drawn with my whimsical style for gosh....30 years now but I also paint more "seriously" as well. My joy comes in working to invent whimsical characters and themes. I stumbled upon your videos and, my, how delightful you are!! Of course I recognize your illustrations right away. You are just as enjoyable as your artwork. Off to begin another journey! Thank you for sharing your ideas here on You Tube. Peace to you, from across the ocean! Debbie Starrett
I look at the people in the comment section and think... Wow. That's a lot of people I'm going to be competing with. I think it's really true when Chapman said that being a beginner, it's hard to get jobs. Especially when there's hundreds and thousands of people planning to become an illustrator.
Lynne came to do a portfolio review for my class when I was at Sunderland Uni. She was nice to me (but made some of my classmates cry 😆 ) Nice to see her interview here!
This is so interesting. You really did get lucky. I like your positivity. You're very inspiring. I'm a mum of 4 children including 1 year old twins. I blog on CZcams and now I have started to get back into drawing. I've always wanted to write and illustrate a children's book. At the moment I'm watching loads of tutorials on how to draw cartoons because I want to make a book with our family as the characters for my twin girls. You really do have the dream job x
This was really interesting and inspiring to hear your story, thank you for sharing it Lynne! It was also nice to see how much you love your work! :-) From an aspiring children's book illustrator! - Shosh
Thank you Lynne for a very good video. Just one thing - the „trade show“ … I didn't quite understand that bit :) Is it a show where you can buy some stories to illustrate or do you pick a unpublished book and illustrate it for free?
I'm a graphic designer and illustrator, and I've got illustrations featured in print, but only for things like leaflets and sometimes websites. I'd very much like to illustrate a children's book, but breaking in is very hard. I was wondering about setting up an account on that website Fiverr and uploading some of my portfolio and giving that a shot. Has anyone had any luck with illustration commission's on Fiverr?

what information do u get from a degree that you cant get on the internet and drawing classes?
The high time of publishing is over. Do online magazines still use illustrators in the same way?
u look awesome as what u do
