Do people realize that borna’s title journey is one of the most inspiring and memorable moments ever in tennis. Considering how much hype he had as a youngster but injuries held him back. His draw this week was brutal, he had no help in the draw. Truly inspiring.
ever in tennis???????
He was ranked in the top 15 before and he is only 25 years old
He even reached a master series final before.
A great week for him but this isn’t even remotely close to the most inspiring and memorable tennis moments ever.
This guy was supposed to challenge for slams lol
Calm down
@@MikkelJankovic lol
Are you making Hallmark movie? Geez
@@DCStef Glad you said that. A bit over the top.
I remember Borna Coric being touted as one of the next great tennis players, and then he seemed to disappear off the map due to various injuries. I am surprised but happy to see him win a masters 1000 against a pretty tough field considering he hasn't made a masters 1000 final since 2018, and lost in the 1st round of most of the masters this year. Hopefully we'll see Coric make some deeper runs into tournaments in the near future!
I remember when he first came on to the scene, was a very good player but as you said he carried injuries for a long time and he decided to take a break from tennis to sort his issues out. He will be a gun player in the future as long as he is fit. I wish him all the best, great guy and player
from a very very average in this game Stefanos Tsitsipas.
@@nikgalis Tiredness from his previous match.
@@nikgalis ...he tends to make lots of unforce errors. this is will keep him from moving up on the ranking.
Also the commentator mentioned that Coric said that once he entered the top 20 he took his foot off the gas.
R1 Musetti (Q)
R2 Nadal (2)
R3 Bautista-Agut (15)
QF Auger-Aliassime (7)
SF Norrie (9)

There's been tougher title runs but this was quite the gauntlet!
Wonderful...👏👏👏👍👌
Nothing spectacular about it
@@novakgoatovic How's that nothing spectacular??
Musetti won a tournament few weeks ago against Alcaraz, Rafa is Rafa, RBA and FAA are great players, Norrie played semis at Wimbledon and Tsitsipas has been a Top 8 player on the tour for years now with many titles to his name.
It's an incredible run, especially for someone like Borna who lost years of tennis due to injuries
@@novakgoatovic something spectacularly stupid about your statement.
@@novakgoatovic you sound a little bitter. It was spectacular. 4 of the 6 players he beat are Top 10, and the other 2 have been playing fantastically lately.
First time in ages that I have seen Coric's forehand work as well as it did in this tournament. His backhand has always been good.
yeah and it looked like he changed up something in his technique, at least in the take back from what I saw
Noticed that too. Something looks different
Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Borna Coric For The Title | Cincinnati 2022 Final ... czcams.com/video/_8UmrRrTHV0/video.html via @CZcams
I agree. But man his serve was almost unbreakable this tournament. I watched his game against Nadal and man, he looked like John Isner. And when he didn't serve an unreturnable serve, he used those backhands and forehands to dominate the point. I hope he stays consistent because he definitely has the tennis to compete against every player. That would be good for the sport.
@@AllMenMustServe Nadal's probably the second best returner in the game after Djokovic now so yeah his serve was good but let's be honest, rusty Nadal didn't make a lot of good returns. He'll be on fire in the US though!
Tsitsipas looked very uninspired in that second set. Kudos to Coric being relentless as ever. Well deserved first masters title.
stephan looked like he gave up to me. you could see it in his face and body language. several balls he just let go by
Yep, looked like no gas ⛽️ in the tank

Congrats to Coric - what a week for him beating 5 seeded players (Nadal, RBA, FAA, Norrie and Tsitsipas) along the way to the title, very well deserved after everything he's been through with undergoing rehab.
All the best to him for the US Open :)
It was not coric beat nadal... nadal beaten by rain delay nadal should have easily win in straight sets against coric
Only truly impressive win was against Nadal. All the others are just pretenders.😋

Lmao no
Rain delay does not discredit a win
I'm genuinely happy that he won the most significant trophy of his career so far, hoping he'll go even better. Congrats Borna❤👍
At the end of the match, on 8:01 , there is a thunderstorm coming from Borna's side. What a symbolism !
As a Croatian myself, congrats to Coric for his win. 😁👏⭐️👍🇭🇷
Borna was insane this whole week, if he keeps this level up he's going to be a major dark horse for the USO. Amazing run
He plays so well this week, and will be seeded in USO, so he won't be the dark horse if he wins.
Usually after a big result like this the US open will be a let down and he’ll get bounced in R64 but I hope I’m wrong
Do U really think he will be a great dark horse at the US Open? Oh c'mon, he's one of those young prospects that NEVER did, he hasn't and won't do anything at a GS. I bet Coric won't even make it to the quarterfinals. You should also know that the environment between an M1000 and a GS are totally different, where the latter is at a much more aggressive and competitive level. The fact that Borna Coric won this Cincinnati M1000 says absolutely nothing. IMHO
@@Alfredul03 How can you be so sure of anything... With the big 3 disappearing, it has never been so open for the win in the US open. And nowadays Masters 1000 are more difficult to win, clearly, first rounds look like finals... I don't think Coric has a chance though, but don't forget his past injuries, the only reason why he was disappointing.
@@Alfredul03 Momentum is a very powerful force.
Absolutely LOVED how borna was playing! His serve, fenomenal, backhand, crazy good, forehand not as strong as tsitsipas but still very high level. This man is unstoppable. He plays aggressive nonstop, thinks before each point of strategy. Really happy that he’s healthy and back playing again. Wow, what an athlete!
No thought on how "off" his opponent was today?
@@humbertsmith8864 tsitsi tired after a long match with med.
He's not unstoppable actually. Players like Djokovic, Nadal, Zverev or even Medvedev would beat him convincingly if they are well
@@Blue-ik8ij lol he beat Nadal in the tournament, what a comment hahahahahaha
Unstoppable?
Monumental win for Borna. He’s been plagued with injuries and setbacks even at the young age of 25. Inspired tennis beating out many greats of the game. Well deserved. Let’s hope he keeps this up. His game reminds me of a slightly more aggressive Djoko. Well done!!
I definitely see a bit of djoko in the backhand
The audience loves Borna, that is difference for player. He has something magic. Handsome guy.
Novak is not that accepted doesn't matter how good he was.
Love you Borna .👍👍👍❤
When he was junior they called him "mini Đoković" :)
What a performance...
Especially, after all the injuries he's faced.

Really conjures up something of Djokovic, and that's the highest praise there is. Sharpens his game under pressure, precise hitting, compact no-nonsense strokes, and hot wheels on court. Wonderful to see him back on tour, and hope he does well in NYC!
I just wanted to make that same comment ! True
I love Djokovic but we should stop comparing players.
couldn't have said it better.
Auuuu decko, svaka cast. Prizeljkivao sam ovo i desilo se. Zasluzio si odlicnim igrama. Nastavi tako i dalje i cuvaj se povreda.
So so inspirational from coric.... Getting goosebumps while watching this .... surely has inspired many if ur a real tennis fan ...
This guy was playing challengers few weeks ago!! Amazing title today and truly inspiring for sure.
I remember how touted he was back in 2014 and 2015, and he had success early on in his pro career, but he could't quite get to finals. I then remember the 2020 USO when he beat Tsipitsipas in a quality 5 setter, and was outplaying Zverev in the first set and a half but choked a bit and couldn't keep it going in that quarterfinal match. After he disappeared, due to injuries. He also had injuries in 2016 and 2019. Everyone knows how good he can be. He was the world number 1 junior and was the youngest player in the top 100 in 2014. He was one of the ultimate NextGen guys. Hopefully his injuries are behind him and he can keep it going.
What a comeback and what a match for Coric. The level of movement and shots was Djokovic like!
Yes, agree with You, Borna played Novak style.

What a way to win his first masters 1000 beating Musetti, Nadal, RBA, FAA, Norrie and Tsitsipas 😳🔥
The way he played the whole week was not a surprise him winning the trophy, let's go croatian sonic hedgehog 💪. 7-0 in the tiebreak coming back from 4-1 down 😱
Without a doubt the best looking man on the ATP tour. Movie star good looks and insane talent. Lucky guy.
Bravo Coric you made Croatia proud again.
Tsitsipas is like 'Great, another guy who is going to overshadow me..'
When he beat Nadal early into the tournament, you straightaway sense that was no fluke and he have proven his mettle to win the title. Take his great service game, strong forehand and a formidable backhand, his movement, Coric thoroughly deserved this. Hope to see more of him
That is a high quality match! Some of Borna’s shots were amazing, esp. that winning lob when the ball was way behind him!
He's only dropped a set against Nadal this week 🤯. Absolute insane level. Congrats Borna, and hope to see you around more often! 🏆
What a determination and intensity. Brilliantly done for the whole week. More of that please Mr Coric.
One of the most effective backhands in the game, Coric will be a problem for anyone on US open
if he plays like this he will be. i always thought he was underated

He is injury free, cant wait to see him play in the US open
@@cocolatin1 wtf are you saying?! You can't win Masters by accident. Show some respect you bum!
Unbelievable. One of the most amazing runs in masters 1000, I can remember. Garcia’s isn’t too far behind either. Both amazing stories this year.
Coric has the potential to be a consistent name in the top 5. Wish him all the best and hope he has no more major time lost due to injuries
He has a real shot at making the final four at the USO. Momentum is everything in this summer hard court season.
I've not seen the Coric play in quite sometime but I was impressed with what I saw in the match highlights. Nice he has been able to overcome injury. First time I saw him play a match of any consequence was against Federer many years ago in which he won the match from my recollection. I thought he was talented back then but from what I've seen now his game has definitely grown as well as his willpower. And I have to say with all the highlights I've seen from Cincinnati his backhand down the line has been impeccable throughout the tournament. Good on you kid congratulations ☮️
Coric was insane this week, the finals match especially, i was in person and it was even more insane cause the crowd was so damn one sided, just like rblev vs zverev last year, but Coric did really well considering he said he thought he would get knocked out first round
@Rafa undisputed Goat suck his dick then and stop spamming
I'm so very happy for Borna. Well deserved. He has been working so hard at coming back to the levels he was on a few years back. Hope this win gives him the confidence to know he can be in the top 10 / top 5 of men's tennis.
bro went from well outside the top 100 to a US open seed in a week... i don't know what other better example to show of hard work pays off
Agree
I have a fun story about Borna. 10-11 years ago my trainers son was N1 player in my country U18 (Slovenia),trained in best club 4+ hours per day and Borna was probably younger. If you look at them they had similar strokes and power. But that match went 6-2 6-1 for Borna, because he had better feeling for the ball and he was more consistent and precise. That shows what an incredible talent he is.
Ja mislim da ću Ja ovo naj manje 50-60 puta pogledat

This Victory means: Never give up, stay hungry, if you believe, everything is possible. Great Victory!! Belissimo!
I’m a Rafa fan but I’ve always liked borna as well. Was disappointed Nadal lost but also didn’t feel like he played badly at all, Coric was just going for broke and not missing. So glad to see he kept that momentum up, he deserves this after the last few years he’s had with covid and injuries!
BRAVOOO BOOORNA🇭🇷🇭🇷🇭🇷 What a week for him, after all he was going through in the past with his injuries. I'm so happy for him. Now he's back under the Top 30 if I'm not mistaken it. And good luck for the US Open.

I bet on Rafa against Coric. I was so pissed when he won, I thought it was extremely flukey. How can the guy who lost to Cilic 6-3 6-2 a week ago beat Rafa? Well, he proved me wrong. This was his week, it was no fluke. Congrats Borna! Heck of a run.
bet on Rafa to beat coric? at like 1.01 odds? Lmao
Cilic was a grandslam winner wut? He can win against any top 10 if he is not making a lot of errors.
@@ayylmao2935 I made a 100$ bet on FAA beating Ruud at 1.80 odds. last time I bet on tennis lmao

Honestly that's your fault for betting on that. Little value betting on the favorite. Especially Nadal. There's too many Nadaltards thinking he's unbeatable betting on him. First rounds are always risky and you get little profit anyways if he wins.

Coric is vaccinated and natural but Novak is suspicious especially when he loses 2 sets then that toilet visits
Born (a) AGAIN! What a performance. What a week.
Tsitsipas has the talent if only he would keep fighting and not let himself get dejected. He lets himself go into shut down mode once he starts to feel bad about his performance and this causes him to lose the match before it has actually ended. He should keep fighting so at least he can be proud of himself at the end.
(FYI, Tsitsipas is the reason I got into tennis because I saw a random video of him one day showing his reaction into making the RG 2021 Final. This made me curious about tennis and want to learn what the big fuss is about Roland Garros. I absolutely had no idea what a Grand Slam was. Now I am a huge tennis fan and root for all types of players like Djokovic, Rafa, Serena, Ons, Coco, and Naomi. But Tsitsipas will always be the first person I root for since I wouldn't have gotten into tennis without him.)
Same here and I agree
he is like a mini-djokovic. All the shots are how djokovic would play like all are athletic points. Good for him.
Baby Djokovic will win the us open
that half-flick back lob was marvelous. Very compact playing style and also he is not worried about an unforced error and focuses on the next point. Injury Break can do wonders. Good games are always good for tennis, good to have the competition and a good contest. Curious to see how his match up will be with Kyrgios or Medvedev
and he wears asics, djoker does too! In fact his t-shirt is asics but djoker's is lacoste but shoes both have asics. How interesting. Very few tennis players have asics gear
