Visiting India's Holiest City (Varanasi Travel Vlog)

  • Varanasi, India is a place we have wanted to visit for as long as we can remember. We have seen many pictures and videos of Indians and foreigners visiting Varanasi, and we were drawn into the colours, customs, rituals, and significance of this place. Although we do not belong to any of the religions that find meaning at the Ganges River, we have always wanted to travel to Varanasi and learn about the importance of this area.
Although we did not bathe in the Ganges River ourselves, watching people dip themselves in the River and cleanse themselves with rituals that we had never seen before was such a great experience. It is easy to feel the importance of Varanasi for those who believe in the purification of the Ganges River and the privilege of being cremated at it's banks. We are so grateful that we were able to visit India's holiest city and witness people partake in rituals that hold such importance for them.
For foreigners visiting Varanasi, our advice would be to come prepared to learn, and give yourself enough time to take Varanasi slowly. For our first time in Varanasi, we found that we needed to take breaks from the crowds and busy streets to allow ourselves the space and time to really take in what we were experiencing. The ghats are definitely the best place to spend time sitting, watching, and learning, and we would highly recommend Dashashwamedh Ghat and Assi Ghat. Of course, seeing the famous Aarti performed at the Assi Ghat is a must do during your time in Varanasi.
We hope you are able to get a feel for what it's like to visit Varanasi from this Varanasi travel vlog. We had such a great time exploring this city and ticking a sunrise boat ride along the Ganges River off our bucket list!

Visited Varanasi 2017 with many misgivings - many gruesome descriptions online from people who had been there. What we found was simply sublime. Amazing energy, amazing sights and uplifting people. For anyone searching for life answers, regardless of personal faith, Varanasi is a highly, highly recommended place to visit.

The goal is to free our souls from duality and merge with Brahman (the ultimate reality/God) its called Moksha. The path is based on our Karma, if we do good deeds you are one step closer to attain Moksha, till then the soul keep reincarnate in various forms and in various relms/worlds.

      @@nicoleandmico welcome 🙏🏽
To attain moksha there are several ways of yoga ( meaning union)
      * Bhakti yoga = Through worship/ love your preferred diety
      * Karma yoga = Karma means 'action' and Karma Yoga is performing action without attachment to the outcome. It is the path of selfless service (Seva). You cease to identify with the ego and all action is seen as an offering to the Divine.
      * Gyana Yoga = itis the path of knowledge or, more correctly, wisdom. It is the means to Enlightenment through the process of reason particularly the process of discrimination between what is real and what is not real, what is true and untrue through study and self-inquiry.
*Raja Yoga = Means the Royal Path. Just as a king maintains control over his kingdom, you must maintain control over your own kingdom (the body and the mind)
It’s the path of meditation, mantras, and techniques. The basic theme of Raja Yoga is that your perception of the Divine Self is obscured by the disturbances of the mind. If the body and mind can be made still and pure, the Self will instantaneously shine forth.

Better March than May, I went once in May, and the weather was BRUTAL. The River was at the lowest level, and the heat was stifling, with no cross-breeze from the river to provide any cooling effects. Sitting at the ghats during daytime was horrid due to the heat.
That made me legit believe that Global Warming was really a thing.

Great vlog. The ancient name for Varanasi is Kashi. Kashi means the tower of light. In ancient times, the greatest of beings have come here to become the illuminant
The whole city is based around the original Kashi Vishwanath temple, and other old temples are geometrically aligned with it. The energy of the main temple builds itself upwards when certain rituals are performed.

    • @dalitnahipehlehinduhu6569

      @rvind000 Před rokem +1

The ritual I'm talking about is Saptarishi Aarti/Puja. Orignal no. of temples was same as the no. of "nadi" in human body. This was 'the centre' of true knowledge, which is the self & to highten your perception.

Hindus worship nature, rivers plants animals.
For example, one of the reasons why Ganga is worshipped if you look at it from pragmatic point of veiw the river irrigates the massive Gangetic doab region, and makes the soil fertile. Directly or indirectly, 200M people are dependent on its sacred waters for their livelihoods. Without it life would be really difficult in Gangatic planes.
Hindus worship banyan tree because of it emiting the outsized amount of oxygen. Hindus worship Basil tree, for its medicinal purposes, or sun for its importance in role for the sustainance of life so on and on. Its our way of giving thanks to the nature so on and on.

One of the best introductions to Varanasi I have seen and I have been busy. Great photography and I feel a whole letter better prepared for the sensual onslaught. Well done

The insanity of Varanasi is part of its charm. It has to be the most interesting city in India. I hope I can come back for the third time. I’m in my early planning stage.

Dashaswamegh Ghat is the most chaotic one but it is also the best Ghat to see Ganga arti, since it's the original one where Ganga arti used to happen since ages, on other ghats it has just started recently to reduce the load on the main Ghat..by the way your vlogs are awesome
