Indian Food Tour in Kolkata - Trying Bengali Food

  • We made it to Kolkata and started off our time in the city by stuffing our faces full of Indian food! We were so excited to try West Bengali food and get a sense of how it is the same and different from the food we have tried in Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, and Varanasi. We did this food tour with a company called A Chef's Tour and honestly could not recommend them more!

Our guide, Avik, was AMAZING. Seriously, this guy has to be the best food tour guide in Kolkata. He started off this West Bengali food tour by taking us to the famous Golbari restaurant to try mutton kosha which turned out to be a favourite for the evening! We also really enjoyed trying pushka, which we had previously tried in Delhi but over there they called it pani puri (if you haven't seen our Delhi food vlog, click here: • Is Street Food in Delh... ). We loved trying lassi, dalmoth, onion fritters, and Indian fish and chips, but possibly our favourite foods to try were all the Kolkata sweets! We could have stood around all night trying different West Bengali sweets.
In addition to the food, we loved exploring Kolkata for the first time as we ate and ate and ate! We learned how to ride the metro in Kolkata, took a human powered rickshaw, and the highlight of the evening was definitely taking the local bus in Kolkata! We were so glad to have Avik with us for this as there is no way we would have known what to do on our own. Although we both thought that bus ride might be the last thing we ever do in this life, we loved every minute of it!
Thank you Avik and A Chef's Tour for another awesome Indian food tour. For anyone wanting to try this tour out themselves, click here: www.google.com/url?q=...

It would taste like kolkata biryani without aloo but a spicier version.
When going to Zam Zam try beef biryani at the older outlet in Entally. It's exactly how it's cooked in our homes.
