RAIN Camping with Roaring Campfire - awesome setup!

- Today I am out in the gorgeous Arthur's Pass National Park, camping alongside Andrew's Stream. Join me for a wet walk in and set up of camp, but a lovely warming campfire to cook dinner over and sit by. It was very very windy so I apologise that the audio was not top notch. I hope you enjoy the journey and adventure of being in the outdoors.

Thank you. It was a great camp! Remembering that trip makes me laugh. I didn’t get it on camera (as I was too scared to move 🫣), but I thought someone was shining a torch on my tent and then it turned out to be the full moon rising above the mountain. 🤭
Great video! For hiking in to camp you make some really awesome meals with fresh ingredients. Shows people that they don't have to rely on packaged meals on short trips
Hi John. Yes, there is always a trade off with weight and volume and for me it just comes down to balancing those things out. If I can I love to eat fresh when outdoors because it feels so nourishing for my body and soul in that space. That being said I have a tricky trip planned where weight will just have to be number 1 priority or I will wreck my body, and then I will take a free dried meal (with a bag of greens to add to it of course, lol). creative tarp setup-the angles over the tent where water runs off is brilliant-haven't seen anyone do this that well. the two tarps is great also-a little campfire hangout separate from the sleeping area is great. you are showing greater creativity than some of the guys' setups on other channels.

Great camp. I think the two tarps are a good idea. I am going camping soon so I will get myself a tarp to cover the tent. Just to start with. Then I might upgrade to two tarps. See how I go. Good watching you how it is set up. Thanks
Thank you. I think a tarp is a great idea because it means you can sit out of your tent no matter the weather and if it rains or is dewy only the tarp is wet and it can be the very last thing you pack away, while you get packed up under it in the dry. I hope you enjoy your camp.
@@adventureot yes definitely keeps they damp air off everything. I am about to buy a tarp and go camping saw how good your ones work. 🏕️. I have a small tent so a tarp is a good idea so I can sit out side. I am too old for trekking up mountains like you which is great to watch I love it. But I love outdoors especially in winter. Thanks for sharing your videos.

You should get a little saw like mine. I have the silky pocket boy outback I think it’s called. Incredible little saw. Looked like hard work in that wind good effort

Buddy Dog came by and asked why Indi was not there Woofers. Good video. I recommend a Silky Saw, I have two of the and they fold up and pack light. A perfect addition to the pack. IMHO

Indi is exactly the same as a dod I had years ago she was a lab collie cross she was an amazing dog and indi reminds me of her so much she is so adorable I appreciate seeing her but also enjoy these videos when you are yourself keep up the great work x

Oh my! I hope you get yourself a little folding saw meant for the bush, maybe the Bahco Laplander, inexpensive and light weight.. That looks like a back saw you're struggling with - meant for cutting milled lumber. Wrong tool for the job! A lovely cozy camp.
Thanks for the recommendation. Oh my gosh yes that was totally the wrong tool. It was a nightmare to use as the teeth were way too large and I could hardly get it moving. 😫

I wish you had Indi with you. I'm a dog lover. I have rescued many dogs. I kept my Great Pyrenees and Merrema Sheep dog.
That's awesome. Lucky dogs!! I also wish Indi had been able to join me on this trip, but we have very strict rules in NZ to protect our vulnerable natural species, so dogs in National Parks are a definite no no.

Hi bnpp. Welcome to my channel. It’s very light, comes in a bag too big for it so I compress it in my own one, very simple to put up. I can sit up without hitting my head, reasonable vestibule for pack to be stored, and no condensation issues. I have never tested it in high winds though and those are the only conditions I would be concerned about in this tent. How about I try that out for you some time? Trip idea.

Excellent camping video and the camp setting of the tarp is the best I have seen so far.Sound is a bit muffing and may be need to improve with latest sound system. AB CAMPING channel(New Zealand as well)has a good sound recording.Check him out.His dog camper partner just died few weeks ago.SAD.
Thank you for the feedback and encouragement Iqra 96. Tony’s audio is top notch, he does a great job with that, you are right. Once I start to get some some payment from YT I hope to be able to improve some of my gear. It’s a very expensive process though, so for now I must make do as best I can. 😊

He does enjoy it, especially if we go out with a group of friends or another family. It’s not a relaxing activity for him though, the way it is for me, so he’s very happy to hold the fort at home to enable me to do what I love.
are you allowed to carry a weapon ?? - and are there wild animals to worry about in N.Z.
Hi there. Only if you hold an approved firearms licence for hunting and it is a hunting area. There is deer and pig and goat in some/a lot of our wilderness areas, but no predators to worry about. It's very tame over here compared to most other places.
