Thanks for the info. I’m definitely interested in the game, and pre-ordered it. As far as the imagery is concerned, I’m personally a fan of how they leaned into the “evil,” but I don’t begrudge anyone who will forego playing because they don’t want to look at something that bothers them.

Thanks for addressing the "take that" mechanism in detail. I was curious how they'd implement that in a euro game. The imagery in the game doesn't really affect me one way or the other. But, why would a publisher/designer knowingly choose imagery that alienates such a large portion of their potential audience? Seems counterproductive, unless their message, or artistic expression, is more important to them than greater financial success. Which is perfectly valid. It is art after all.

The game is meant to be dark and sinister. Evil to the hilt. The blasphemous imagery is just that...imagery. You are playing cults who worship an evil. It's the whole point!

Imagery issues make me roll my eyes.
You can't please everyone.
I'm sure there are several other images in the game that bothers others.
Some people refuse to play games that have cute imagery in it.
There is no way to please everyone.
I'm sure there are some that the imagery actually drew them to the game.

Don't disagree with you on that. Which is why I wanted to make sure it isn't a knock on the game but something that was brought to me multiple times. Figured it was worth discussing.

Because Rising Sun has worst imagery and I don't remember people reacting to it in that way.
People corpses hanging from the Oni miniature etc...
