  • In this video we’ll look at using Maya 2020 Retopologize and Remesh operations to fix a hard surface object. These operations are now available through the menus instead of the command line and are great for speeding up the clean up objects. If you’re looking for a more detailed understanding of the settings I’d recommend checking out the documentation.

Tip: edge softness/hardness is taken into account and will give a sharper result the harder they are.

This video is so good, how does it only have 633 views! Do you need to remesh before retopo?

  • @brownj83

How can I make the Maya with retopo have a symmetry in X?

I did the automatic retopology, the same way it was bad, he messed up, it seemed that I sculpted it, the topology is messy, unbalanced on one side, it didn't work

I'm sorry to ask but I still don't understand why Hard surface models like buildings or furniture need retopologizing, could you explain it, please?

when I use poly remesh, maya aplly an absurdly high amount of triangular polygons. Even setting Max Edge Length to 1.5.
