    This was so delicious! If you don't mind the heat, add up to 1/2 the package of paste for 8 chicken thighs. Hope you'll give it a try and let me know how it goes.

    Prepared Malaysian Curry Chicken for lunch today where I work. Made perfect rice at home and brought it work with all the ingredients for the Curry Chicken. It was a big hit. And they want more dishes in a few days. Will take a serving home to have for dinner tonight. Wonderful recipes and outstanding videos! I learn something new every time I watch the videos, Flo. Thank you so much for this recipe. I miss Malaysia so much and the only restaurant that makes Curry Chicken is a train ride away. If I never look this recipe up, I would have never known about the curry paste. All my years without it is such a shame. This is now always in my pantry and it taste absolutely amazing, just like how they make it in the restaurant!!! You are awesome. Love all the videos.

Did I mention in the video that my mother-in-law used to bring it back for me from Malaysia every year she went until we were finally able to find at home? Thank you for your very kind comments!

    Hi Flo, I have used the same brand paste before but cook it with chicken on the stove. Lovely taste but I tend to use 2 packages per whole chicken. I put potatoes, fried taufu, and add ladies fingers and aubergine in too at the end.I am getting an electric Pressure cooker coming today so will try this in the EPC. Love your video, will try out Boleh!!

    This turned out really well tonight! I made some small changes/additions though. I added the whole curry pouch and a whole can of coconut milk. 9 thighs instead of 8. On top of the chicken once it was in the pot I added a bag of frozen peas, two carrots diced up pea-size and sauted soft, and some fresh snap peas. I cooked all that for 12 minutes (high-altitude). It was delicious! Unfortunately I only had long-grain rice. But that was fine. Overall, the dish needed a little seasoning afterward (salt/pepper) but I loved it through and through...great recipe!

    Very nice recipe! I have a suggestion for you. After it's cooked, take the chicken pieces out and crisp the chicken under the broiler. I had made a nice cure dish,saw a lady on tv one day do this. The chicken skin gets crispy and omg,with the sauce over it,you have a beautiful finish to any chicken dish made in a pressure cooker or slow cooker. Any chicken dish on a bone that's been sauced.

    I love Malaysian cuisine, I hope you do more Malaysian stuff with the instant pot. Have you tired this with half the packet? Spicyness is not an issue for me, was wondering if half would make it too salty, though? . Great videos, keep them coming :)

      @FloLum  Před 7 lety +1

    Every time I've made an IP pressure cooked coconut milk based dish the result isn't as creamy as non pressure cooked. Have you found this issue? Do you think this recipe would work if the coconut milk was added sauteed after pressure cooking instead?

    • @FloLum
      @FloLum  Před 3 lety

      This is an older video. I have started adding coconut milk after pressure cooking on sautee mode and it works much better.

    Looks delicious! I hope World Market has this package. I have coconut milk. How long does the unused milk stay good in the fridge? If you didn't have kids, do you think it would be better with half the curry mix? It's for just my husband and me and I want to taste it the way it is supposed to. One little cringe worthy moment was when stirred your pot with tongs. Couldn't you use a wooden spoon? 😅

    • @FloLum
      @FloLum  Před 8 lety

      Hi Georgia! I suppose I could have used a wooden spoon. 😂 Sorry about that. 😉 The leftover coconut milk is generally only good for a few days in the fridge. I wonder if you could freeze it. When I make it now, I use 1/2 a package of curry paste. My kids don't seem to mind the spicy-ness. Hope you can find it. I have actually seen it on the Walmart website here in Canada. Maybe check there. I know... So random! The brand is Tean's Gourmet. Enjoy!

      Thighs are better for taste and texture. Breast are apt to dry out in cooking. As with all cooking you need to try it and get your own opinion.

  • @1timby
    @1timby Před 7 lety +1

    An observation..... It seems that many of these recipes result in them being runny? I gather you can take out the meat & add a thickener or cook down the sauce.
    Something you may want to try with chicken skin. I brown my chicken for my dish. If I'm making a dish that requires it to be stewed, I take off the browned skin & place the chicken back into the cooking vessel. I then take the chicken skin & place it on a plate. Cover the plate with a paper towel. I place it in the Microwave, set on high, and cook it for less than a minute. The skin becomes very crispy. I then dice or crumble it & place it on top of the dish I'm serving. This kicks the dish up a notch....LOL
