- Last year we made a video explaining how we make our beautiful hanging baskets on the nursery. You can see that here:- • How We Make Hanging Ba...
Thank you for all the lovely comments on that, we are glad it was useful.
This time we take products and plants from the shelf of the garden centre and make a luxury basket with them, showing every step of the process.
At the end of the video there are some pictures of our baskets over the years so that you can see how they end up with lots of water and a little care. - Jak na to + styl
the way I gasped every time you cut any of the plants though!!!!
can't wait to make my own next year ❤
Wow! The most comprehensive and detailed instructions on how to make a stunning hanging basket! Thank you so much!😊
Best hour spent watching you create the wonderful basket! Thank you for teaching me!
Thank you so much for being so thorough and comprehensive and making the basket I am a from the US and a plant lover I have made baskets before but not like yours I love the luxury baskets and try to put a little luxury in all that I do, a very thorough teacher keep up the good work
Oh my goodness. When I saw this video is over an hour, I thought I'd be fast forwarding a lot to get passed a lot of slow repeating steps. Well, you kept my attention throughout! I've made hanging backsets before, but nothing like this. I learned so many things I've done wrong.
I never thought to remove the chains, Duh! I really like your idea to place a circle of the compost bag onto of the very bottom layer of moss. So clever. I also never those to mix the fertilizer pellets into the compost how you do. I've always just mix them into the top layer of planting soil. I've also never thought to put back to flowering plants to vigorously. But that does make sense to allow the energy to go toward getting the roots to settle in and grow, thereby supporting a bigger plant eventually.
When living in Southern California, I always had a single asparagus ferns in each of several hanging baskets and just let them eventually emerge from around the side on their own. Now I want to try your technique with a variety of compatible ferns and having them coming out all over. Of course, I'll try with flowering and various shapes of green non-flowering plants.
One problem I had in SoCal is that the local birds stole a significant amount of the moss for their nesting material. So I had to use the coconut liners. Now that I live in S.E. Idaho, I have a lot more trees and even more birds, plus squirrels. I suppose I could try your technique by slicing slits into the coconut fiber liners to shimmy in my baby plants. I know I learned more than that from you, but I can't remember everything I said to myself "ah ha" about your demo.
Thanks so much for the thorough demo and explanation.
Great comment, thank you. Have fun 👍

Tim, just found your channel. I’ll repeat what others have said…You are a great teacher! I never knew how to make beautiful baskets like you showed us. Mine did not have enough flowers planted in them. They always get to looking scraggly. Thank you!
Harrisburg, PA USA
Thank you 😊
well I never knew I needed a luxury hanging basket till now. I may have to try this. Great tutorial very informative and loved the step by step walkthrough.
Wow! Those are stunning! Loved the video, very detailed. Im in the USA and I see baskets like this sometime but not alot. When I do see them, they cost alot of money lol. I never knew how they make them look like that so this video was awsome. I do alot with flowers myself so I will definitely be trying this myself. Thank you!
A professional demonstration indeed and outstanding results, Nobody minds paying for quality,
You are an amazing teacher ! Now I know why hose hanging baskets are so exspensive! Lots of work lots of plants!
And so many plants!! I would never have purchased anywhere close to that number of plants for that size basket. Fabulous information to have so we all can now have “luxurious” hanging baskets too.
Best instructional video on the whole of you tube ! Thank you so much. Im inspired!
I really liked your video. Thank you! It would have been so awesome to have had pictures added at the end of the basket a ew weeks into the bloom of it all.
Thank you. We are taking a picture of this basket every day and will eventually post the time-lapse of it over the whole summer ☀️
Wow! If my hanging baskets could look even 1/4 as good lol. Definitely something I can aspire to achieve, one of these days...
That's why we make these videos, improving the world one garden at a time x
Oh yes, quality. It’s going to get gorgeous and long.
What a fantastic video! Thank you so much all the way from Buckingham County Virginia. I'm going to try to make 2 matching ones
so very interesting and I have been inspired to try this
Quite fascinating. I always thought I had to leave a little space between plants but clearly, they're very being close. Love the way you have the trailing plants coming out of the bottom of some of them. Delightful!
WOW!!
The Brits do it best 💜
❤ 🇨🇦 ❤
Can't wait to try this 😍
I just made one 😆 turned out beautiful can't wait for it to grow out and then see what it looks like..
Superb tutorial....top tip...play on X2 speed
I loved your video! I've made several of this type luxurious basket, but never had the benefit of an in-depth video about how to do it. I just did it by myself, using flowering plants that can stand the hot, humid climate where I live. Your video was an excellent, step-by-step way to build a luxury hanging basket. Thank you!
Beautiful! ❤️
Love your 🌺 flower baskets , thank for showing us just how to build a very beautiful basket of flowers 🌺🌺🌺
Thank you so much for your video. Very helpful! We don’t have baskets like those where I live but I’m on the hunt.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful that's all I have to say
Luxury is an understatement!
I have never had luck with baskets and now I know why! Can’t wait to try again after seeing your video!
I haven’t either , I do have trouble with birds taking the moss, I have to replenish the moss. I do love hanging baskets. 😉
I could watch you make these every day! Awesome video!! Thank you!!’❤❤❤
I would never have thought to put so many on the top.
On my own baskets I put even more, maybe 25 plants :)
Absolutely gorgeous
Wow amazing ❤
Thanks for sharing your knowledge
I'm determined to make one....now to find a sturdy way to hang it at my home. So gorgeous!!
🎉❤So beautiful! Thank you for sharing, have a great evening😊
Hello from NYC Tri State area!!!....Already have baskets + getting ready to get planting at the end of the month (Too cold right now) - You'rea great instructor!!!😂😊
When I’m walking round our neighbourhood, what I love most is seeing beautiful hanging baskets. Your stunning hanging baskets is on another level. Love it. I’m amateur so I only put petunias in my basket so I’m happy when my very basic hanging basket flowers bloom. Thank you for step to step guide for a beautiful hanging basket.
Imagine a street where every house had one!
Stupendous and attractive touch.
Pure art! Thankyou Tim 🐸🎶……This is not a very common feature in Australia. I remember being in Harrogate and seeing the streetscape full of them. Such a joyous sight!
Our summers can be viciously hot with drying winds. I’ll have to figure out a spot in my garden to give this project a go. 💕🙏🏾😎
Rubbish I used to make dozens every few months back in 80s and 90s to sell in NT,you are living in the wrong place.
This was incredible!!! You are a fantastic teacher. Thank you so much! Will be creating many for my garden. 😃
Im watching from Wisconsin ❤
Wow, I never thought of putting that many plants in a hanging basket. No wonder you get the gorgeous results that you do and mine turn out very puny and sparse. Love this video. You have a new subscriber.
Brilliant! Thank you!
Thank you ,for instructions, I was doing the baskets Incorrectly,
So glad to see how this is done properly! Thank you🌹
Now I have a new project to create this :) Thank you
You were very clear and concise on how to build this basket! I'm going to try to build one! You have a great speaking voice for this and it was fun to hear you were going to have a coffee break! Fun to see pictures of a number of finished baskets! Absolutely beautiful!! Thank you! Exceptionally well done!!
Loved the video and the flower choices. Very many of my favorites. While watching I was anticipating some lobelia and euphorbia mixed in. Maybe added in a 20 inch basket❣️😉🤞
I use three strains of lobelia in our main basket production, but not the seed grown types. What type of euphorbia were you anticipating, I'm intrigued 🤔 :) Thanks
Love it. I'm gonna try and make my own. You make it look so easy.
Watched in Australia … always wanted this style of hanging basket so now I’m planning … ❤
I learned so much from this video. thank you so much!
Great video. I learned a lot of things that I can use in my own baskets right away. Never thought of cutting away the flowers, but that really makes sense. The style and colors however, thats personal i guess. I might be the only one here who dislikes 95 percent of them. In my opinion there are so many types and colors of plants that all try to steel the show that in the end its just one huge mess of color. I use 1, 2 or max 3 types of plants in coordinated colors. Or one type in several matching colors. So I would only choose purple and pink with white perhaps. Purple, pink and blue. Blue and white. Red, Oranje and yellow. Or even a purple and yellow combination. But in the thumbnail I see purple, pink, red, yellow, orange, all even in different shades and different types oh my. To me it looks like something ate several flower gardens and threw them all up in one basket haha. Sorry, tastes differ. I guess I'm too Dutch. More like the Proven Winner container recepies. But they sure look very healthy. Thanks for your thoroughly explanation.
You can't be TOO Dutch 😊 The basketbmadenin the video is on the conventional (boring?) lines that you mention, purples, whites and blues. For my own baskets I like a mix of colour that represents my creative personality, and don't feel the desire to be shackled to any given colour scheme, quite the opposite 😄 The beauty of plants is that there is something for everyone 👌
Wow thank you. So thorough and helpful. Ive always beem afraod to try a basket with moss amd now can't wait to.
That was really awesome. Appreciated the details. Never knew to plant the sides of basket. Nice that that you specified the amount of water needed. I would probably have killed them from watering only daily. Thank you.
Always impressed by seeing those beautiful hanging baskets in the UK. Wundering how they get there water. 😮
Enjoyed this video so much. Thank you
Spent a lovely hour watching you making this basket, delightful. Thank you.
Great demonstration, your flowers are beautiful!
Just came across your channel, I have never seen a basket done like this,it has inspired me to do mine like this these are absolutely beautiful 😍 And your easy instructions are amazing as well.Thank you!
Was I the only one who died each time he chopped off the flower heads! OMG!
No. The flowers died too 😅
I think he does that so the young plants can focus on root development rather than flower development until it gets established. I usually have to fight the urge to leave them on. I guess I'm impatient . 😂
I'm watching the ads ...for all your hardworking ...thank you!
Wow wow wow, great to see the end results - totally beautiful, thankyou!
This was very calming, thank you from Ohio
That is a really helpful video and I only wish I had that guy`s patience. I WILL try and Thank you.
I hope it helps. I've not been called patient before 😝😂
Beautifully filled. and love your technic. I have a welded metal basket from my great grandmother. Will be using this method. Wish I were in the UK to have a cup of coffee at the Potting Shed. Thank you from Texas.
thank you for sharing your video,, i will definately do this this year,, truly amazing!!!!!
Watching from NZ and looking forward to spring so that I can try this myself. Thank you for the great tutorial!
My neice is there farming at the moment, lovely place to live 😍
I'm really impressed! At first I was thinking there is no way I'm watching an hour-long video about making a "luxury hanging massive basket" (with 14 plants?), then an hour later I've watched it, and have re-started it from the beginning to see the exact moss used, because I'm actually considering taking down and re-making my four annual not-as-luxurious, way-less-than-semi-trailing, Spring hanging baskets.
Tim, I love how you prepped us with the bracket we'll need ("it will be heavy"), and that you're not stingy with your fertilizer. (Me, neither!)I can't wait to completely start all my brand new hanging baskets from scratch!🪴😬
Hi, thank you for the lovely comment :) I hope you have great fun making your baskets and a summer full of colourful flowers 💐 😊
Stunning! I can’t wait to make several this season. Thank you so much for sharing 🙏❤️
great information! thanks for making the video..hello from Texas! ❤
I would love your floor sweepings - hahaha - I make upcycled paper and would dry and incorporate those little unwanted flower bits!
I’ve recently found a passion for gardening but a complete novice here. So informative, I just hope I can recreate this.
We always say that every day is a schoolday in the garden, we never stop learning :) Enjoy!
Wonderful! Thank You. This step by step video has encouraged me to make my own.
Thankyou so much for this very informative
You forgot the watering crystals. Very detailed thank you. Lovely
I don't use them to be honest, as I have an automatic watering system, but they can make a difference for those who have to water by hand :)
I think he said that the compost already contained water retaining crystals.
Now thats luxurious
You sure are talented. Thanks for the more than useful tips. Can’t wait to see her in all her glory. Be looking for it.
That was so informative and interesting. I'm going to incorporate all you've shown. Thanks for the help.
Thanks so much. Very helpful for this years baskets. Beautiful!1

Amazing
Could you list the plants you used by layer and show a picture of the end result even if its a pic from last year even if they are a different color always love to see what I hope it turns out to be. Love your work, your Mum must have been an amazing gardener! Amazing how we can always learn so much from our parents! Thanks for your amazing videos and sharing your secrets of beautiful plantings!
At the end of the video there is a selection of previous years baskets :)
Amazing,thank you,I appreciate that ❤️👏❤️🙏❤️❤️❤️
I'm completely amazed and dumbfounded....couldn't believe the basket would hold that many plants, but the way you built it with the moss and compost was unbelievable! What an amazing video and your knowledge and gentle manner is fabulous. I wish I lived in the UK to come and visit your garden centre.
God bless you l love flowers l’m learning so much from your instructions thank you and be safe🙏🏾
Beautiful basket! I'm going to try this!
You have given me confidence to create hanging baskets. Thank you Tom.
I’m going to tell my daughter about your videos. As a youngster she hated gardening! But she’s all grown up now with her own garden which she now loves.great video well filmed and tons of advice.🥰🥰👍👍
Thanks for the great video! I love these hanging baskets ( usually I buy them ).
I’m Coventry kid but live in the north east l found you fascinating making hanging basket. Thank you for showing how they are made.
I had a friend called Pam Powell, she was 💯 when she passed :) If you ever come home you know where to find us!
Fantastic! Your instructions are so good that even a “yank” like myself should be able to do this. 😂. These are so much nicer than my sad little coconut liner baskets. Thank you.
