  • Bonjour à tous,
This week, with part of the family back in the UK Terry & Ash take over the cottage update with more château renovations.
The pair tackle more of sanding the walls on the third floor, pushing ahead to create a home and to finally move in.
Plus, Terry & Ash have a little walk to the lake and have a break from all the sanding and show us a little more of the château grounds.
❤️❤️ If you like our videos please subscribe to our channel and hit the like buttom on the video as It helps us massively 🙏🥰
And If you would like to join us on our family journey restoring this once abandoned château, then please just follow the link below, 🥰

    About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK to rural France and restoring this beautiful building to its former glory.

OMG! I am watching this a year after you've posted. I hope you've found a vacuum sander hook up so that you are able to sand your drywall without the job causing a storm of dust throughout the entire chateau. I've done a lot of drywall finishing both with and without a vac sander, and I promise you it's worth using that tool. It makes the job so much more bearable and the clean up is SO much easier!!! It will be invaluable as you finish rooms and are trying to live in the space you are renovating.
Exciting to be seeing your progress. Hope Jonathan had a good visit with his parents.

Ye g.ods..that dust! I think you two should invest in sanders with dust bags as well as eye protection. Such a relief to finally see an end to that tunnel and a chance of having your own apartment by the summer. I presume you are getting a team in to do the fosse septique? Worth the money to get it done quickly.

I would still fill-in the gaps along the ceiling as you don't want the airflow in or out. Its not the quality its the moisture the air is carrying can create mold on the inside surfaces. Don't need to be fancy just air tight as you'll be covering it over with moldings.
You might want to invest in a closed sander with a air handler so you don't have the clouds of dust! Or at least get a window fan to pull the air out!

I loved the stroll around the property! Beautiful flowers are coming up and that bridge is fabulous! I agree, your huge tree, ( is it an Oak?) needs that ivy taken out!
I am worried about the amount of dust you are working in. First, block off doors with plastic to minimize dust in your entire chateau...it will make it's way to other floors! Get a sander that will attach to your shop vac...it will take a large percent of that dust away. Put a box fan in the window. You need respirators!!! Those masks, even N95 will not block all that dust!! Seriously, you guys are gonna have lungs full of that. Please take care!
Definitely, fill those cracks in the ceiling...you will have air flow and moisture in there if you don't!
Y'all do an amazing amount of work and it shows. Soon you will have a livable space!
And Ash, very proud of your French!

You guys need a dedicated sander for plaster works that attaches to a vacuum you’ll never get all the dust out at this point and you have so many square feet of walls to justify it. You can get attachments for your existing sanding machines, but check out Edd and Anna’s it has a long pipe so you can reach the top of wall without a ladder.

Sorry I missed the Premiere I did watch after ! I do have couple of suggestions, Try to get the ivy off your old tree, it looks like it is just starting. I have seen several trees killed (smothered) by ivy. The owner of the land thought that it looked pretty growing and did for about 10 years, till the tree limbs started falling off. Had to have them (trees) cut down. Several were almost as large as yours. Simple to do just cut off about 2 foot (about 60 cm) all around tree where you can reach. (Have a 60cm space all around the tree trunk where there is no ivy. The part of the plant going up the tree will die and you can remove the part with roots as you get time. Second, use in the can spray foam on the cracks where the ceiling meets the wall let dry and trim flat with razor. Being on third flood this will stop cold drafts from coming in. I did this around my windows also then put the frames back on amazing the difference ! Keep up the great work guys ! :)

Who knew that plain old, boring, insanely dusty sanding could be made fun and enjoyable? Terry did. WOW!! Never would have thought I would enjoy that so much. The camera angles, the slow motions, the close ups and time lapse PLUS Music... I've said it many times before, but Terry truly your videos are becoming an art form. Your creative mind and talent really shine in the medium of video. I get so much joy out your joy Ash when you see the amazing, but simple gifts like seeds and books. I am so thankful that you share these blessing and gifts with your viewers. I does the heart good to know that kindness and generosity is shared and treasured.

You must pinch yourself when walking in your beautiful grounds, it’s magical there no matter the season. Can’t believe you have snowdrops in the meadows already, what a lovely sight to see when we are so snowed in here. Ash your French is excellent, I know how hard it is to master it, took me years. Another great vlog, thank you 💗

I also love wisteria but here in the Canadian North they don’t grow very well so I don’t have to worry about a wisteria invasion ; however in the American south they can very easily take over a garden and once established will choke out other plants and trees. They are then very difficult to control because it’s labour intensive trying to cut back the roots and vines. I’ve heard CZcamsrs say once they are established they take over and it’s almost impossible to be rid of them.

From the deep south here, as beautiful as wisteria is it definitely is a big commitment due to it's invasive nature. True of most humid loving vines here!

We have self catering cottages on our farm but what I would really like to develop next is a tree house - in great demand at the moment. You have the perfect setting

Hi Guys, I must say you are both getting more and more handsome! Just an observation from s 78-year old gay guy from California. As you share more of your lives and little moments of intimacy and appreciation for one another (those loving glances of pride when you do something recognized by the other as moments of living together) all that makes you each more attractive. (I'm not just a dirty old man). All the very best for your continued life journey.

Did you know you can dig up your clumps of snowdrops now, break up to smaller clumps and replant. They’ll spread and grow more!

I LOVED the little walk around your land. I think it would be great for you to take a walk all around the property with your camera and have the drone following you at the same time, and then put the videos in split-screen so we can see where you are in relation to the buildings while you are walking! I think it's doable, but a little bit more work in editing!

Lol. You call wisteria a tree. In the US South we call it a weed.
