  • I've always been one to criticise Harley Davidson bikes and the stereotype that goes along with them, but thought enough is enough, I need to see what all the fuss is about!
In this I take out the 2020 Harley Davidson FXDR 114ci and, well I'll leave you to see what I think!
    Enjoy

I have ridden sports bikes for over 30 years including track days, currently own a fire blade. I test rode lots of harleys over the years trying to find one I liked. I attended a Harley test ride day last year and got to pick three bikes. I picked the FXDR to ride because it was new but didn’t expect to like it. I thought I would like the fatboy 114.
I got a huge surprise because I enjoyed the FXDR so much I bought one. It had a stage one with a TBR exhaust. When I came back from the test ride on it I had the biggest grin. The whole time I was riding it I was giggling, the torque is so much fun. The handling is great for such a cool looking bike. I bought the Screaming Eagle stage IV kit for it to give me 40% more power and a longer power and and once it is out of warranty I will put in the Feuling Reaper 521 cam which delivers enormous torque and horsepower with the smoothest delivery.
Yes it’s heavy, yes it has low HP and yes the ride position is strange but you can’t ride one of these and not have a smile on your face because playing with all that torque is so much accessible fun. It made a 51 year old feel like a 21 year old and the sound from the TBR exhaust was fantastic.

I couldn't agree more... I was so sceptical when I first walked into the dealership. Im not one for the chrome etc which I think is why the FXDR stood out. It looks mean and doesn't necessarily have that generic HD style.
I'd love to try it with the upgrades you mentioned.. it has so much torque already that adding more would be hilarious!

Good review. I own 4 harleys. The FXDR is one of them. Its all about the feeling. Riding a Harley litterally gives you a specific feeling. You feel like a tank, you feel like a badass. It cant be beat.

Thank you pal! It really caught me off guard with it. The bike wasn't perfect by today's standards but I completely got it. It was awesome to ride

That bike puts out like 80hp to the wheel and you act like it's fast? The bike is basically a sheep in wolf's clothing. Line it up against a Vrod or Suzuki M109R and it will get destroyed. Harley Davidson just put their 114ci touring bike engine in a sporty looking package.
