Bro chat was lowkey so annoying during the Fluttershy episode. SO MANY people were repeatedly going "Phoenix" "It's a phoenix!" "PHEONIX" EVEN WHEN people were going "No spoilers!" I think some of them were doing it on purpose too.

It's refreshing to see someone liking spike. He can be frustrating sometimes when the writers feel like making him the episode's punching bag, but over all he's a good little fella.

I dont get why her chat keeps telling her false information, like certain ponies are in fact canonically gay or trans as its been confirmed by writers and what not and then she says its not canon. Episode 21 deals with race themes sure but its not in a bad way and the characters are still good! Zecoras episode is supposed to be racy as well considering shes the only zebra in the show, i cant remeber if we ever got her lore or if it was only in comics or something but thats unfair to watch her episode and not the other races ones as hm idk its a childrens show (means u cant be sensitive number one) but also like the ending is always gping to be a learning lesson. Blows my mind how soft a STREAMER and their chat is
It's been a while since I've watched the episode (I even forgot it was an episode) but is it bad? I don't remember the buffalos being portrayed in a particularly negative light other than a misunderstanding at the beginning, after which they're shown pretty sympathetically. Is the bad part the compromise at the end as the buffalos shouldn't have had to compromise? Or is it that it's painting the conflict in a much tamer light than it was irl and so is encouraging a false narrative to kids?

After decades of sitting in the cabinet, all it took was Fluttershy to kill Twinkies.
For those asking I think the episode was skipped because at the end the buffalo and the ponies agree to share the land. I don't think the writers were trying to be racist and I understood the lesson they were going for, BUT it's VERY reminiscent of White Americans tricking Native Americans to make a deal with them so they could use the land but in reality the U.S just kicked them out of their land.
TDLR: The episode wasn't inherently racist just had some "Manifest Destiny" undertones and if you didn't learn American History, you wouldn't know this
I still don't think skipping the episode is the answer. What's next, banning Tom&Jerry? Oh, wait...
That makes it more understandable, but I still find the skip bitter. Do you think there's a better way the ep could have ended?

It wasn't banned or anything, just a preference from aimsey and smth requested to be skipped *out of respect.* The episode is still up, you can watch it yourself lmao. The ban of shows aren't happening because someone opted out of an episode relax lol
@@EnriqueLaberinticoMaybe the ponies move the farm elsewhere entirely, and/or they can still share the land but only on the buffalo's terms.
They could move the theme of sharing to within the pony community itself on a different episode and have this episode talk about the importance of heritage or intruding in on someones space (That last one is a very light way of putting it)

Man, the "invisible string theory" aimsey mentioned during ep23 is something i absolutely believe in. Me and my best friend (who I only met about 5 years ago) had a shared dream from different perspectives when we were younger (i was 8, i think she said was also around there where she had hers[we're both 20ish now])! If anyone's curious I can go into more detail, but we only found out we had that shared dream a year or two ago and freaked out over it for a week because there were so many connections there's no way to deny it.
I wanna know more that sounds so interesting!!!
@@mockjaying I'll share my half first because I remember more details from my own side of the dream. Also just a bit of context, I live out in a small village in the countryside that my friend had never even heard of before we met. It started as most dreams do (abruptly in the middle of whatever was going on here before I arrived), in this case my hometown was slowly flooding from the nearby river rising. So, I started going around town gathering all the animals that got left behind by the people and that just lived around/in the area because sometime before the dream started, my dad had built this magical barrier around our house in case of an emergency just like this one. I manage to get all the pets and local strays into the safe area around my house, and the dream ends once the water has reached the point where you can't see anything except the church bell only barely visible above the water. My bff's side of the dream starts up a little bit before mine ends, the village is already flooded, the animals are hanging out where it's safe and I'm riding in a barrel towards the barrier with the last pet (which happened in mine too) left behind, and she and her grandma are standing on my roof, wondering what happened to this place?
And that's about as much detail as I remember from our shared dream, 12 years later and only learning of the connection about 3 years ago. I'm glad you asked about it cause it's one of my favourite stories to tell people and now it's on the internet for anyone who else who might be curious.

@@mockjaying right? I don't quite remember how it came up as our conversations tend to jump around all over the place, but I'm glad you enjoyed reading my retelling! I'm sure we've had a couple other instances I just don't remember them as well as that one.

“Green Isn’t Your Color” is a funny episode, especially when Fluttershy is thrown into a situation. She’s just too nice to express her emotions. Case in point (22:43) and (29:26). 🤣
“A Bird in the Hoof” is also a classic in terms of hilarity of Season 1. Celestia’s bird Philomena is such a troll. From the ashes… a phoenix rises!

"Bird in the Hoof", always makes me laugh that Princess Celestia pranks the Cakes and that shifty sly look she gives before faking the sip.
Ep.21 explanation: basically Apple Jack's relatives have planted apple trees on top of the buffalo's stampeding grounds which causes tension because wtf ponies you have planted trees on our land without permission, move them or we'll stampede your town, and the ponies are like we can't, that's the only fertile ground and we'll die without these trees. The resolution was the buffalos let the apple trees stay if they can have some of the apples. The lesson was to compromise and make friends with your enemy to keep peace.
The problems: 1. obviously the ponies represent the American settlers and the buffalos are the native Americans, as they are in stereotypical native American head dresses and face paint 2. in the episode the buffalos don't actually live (I dont think) on the land, whereas in real life the land is actually lived on and used so it's not really comparable 3. WTF mlp, no the native Americans should not let it go and compromise for their land????? where are they gonna live??????

You may have skipped “Over A Barrel” for topical reasons, but just a point out. The setting of where the episode takes place will be shown again in a few later episodes, but certainly won’t feature the buffalo characters again as part of the story.
I like Green Isn’t Your Colour because it doesn’t villainise jealousy for once. Rarity doesn’t go insane and let it ruin her and Fluttershy’s friendship, and she acknowledges that she should be happy for her friend and actually talks to her about it at the end. I don’t like how often jealousy is given to villains or characters that used to be bad (Trixie said she was jealous of Twilight in No Second Prances), as if so many kids’ shows/films are trying to say you’re a bad person if you ever feel jealous. I don’t like Owl’s Well that Ends Well for that reason. It’s an _emotion._

I also don’t really like how a couple of things that Spike said in Owl’s Well that Ends Well were worded. “I never should’ve been so jealous,” and, “Being jealous and telling lies will get you nowhere with friendship.” You can’t turn your emotions off. Spike could’ve told Twilight how he was feeling, though. It’s really like it’s saying just _feeling_ jealous makes you a bad friend.

In 22 I feel like twilight was like a person who recently came out introducing her girlfriend to her parents
When Twilight is basically more on Spike's parent since she took care of him back after she hatched him from his egg. She's basically a child parent.
Was talking to my mum about how I used to be OBSESSED with MLP and she said that AJ used to be my favourite along with Princess Candace 😭 but apparently they were hardest to get a hold of so 😜

I can understand you not wanting to platform Over A Barrel (not sure I agree, but I understand). However, I recommend you give it a watch off stream in that case. It has some good recurring jokes, and a few recurring characters are introduced, like Applejack's cousin Braeburn (who most everyone in the fandom thought of as gay).
Viewed in a cynical light, it could be seen as slightly problematic, and it may not handle the topic with quite the nuance it deserves, but it was a far cry from intentionally causing harm or even casting the buffalo in a negative light.
It seems most detractors would prefer rather than ending in a compromise that the Buffalo would just force the settlers off the land, which I personally don't think would have worked tonally with the series.

A bunch of people are talking about Episode 21 in the comments but aren't really saying why it's bad. Please also note that Aimsey is skipping it because of their own opinions and unlike what some people are thinking in the comments they don't have the power to ban stuff in any nation. (Like some people are acussing them of silencing it?) They don't even need to watch MLP with us, they can watch whatever episode they want. Also please keep in mind I don't mean to sound rude, I just want to make my point on the episode. I am a native American and am of course biased on my views.
This episode is not just about a lesson of friendship, it is meant to "educate" American kids in a polite way about how the US was colonized. If you are American you have also probably seen many shows or movies depicting similar things. Colonizers stumble into America, find a perfect place to live, become besties with the natives and live happily ever after along with them. This episode is basically that. A colony of ponies move to this place and want to plant a orchard on the American Buffalo ancient stomping grounds. The buffalo are of course upset, the ponies could go anywhere else but choose to take their homes. The two sides argue, and duke it out in a pie throwing battle. The buffalo liked the pies and agree to share their land and everything goes all hunky dorry.
Maybe to some extent it is a good lesson to teach about sharing. But this is not what the colonizers did. They did not want to share and commited a full out genocide and completely destroyed all of our history. It's a absolutely revolting part of our history that barely gets looked into, our schools don't even admit that it's a genocide.
