    Enjoying your series of Z32 videos. Very informative. Entertaining. Your attention to detail is second to none. I own one of these cars and still love it. I'm a professional mechanic and you have taught me a lot. You are a great teacher and keep up the extraordinary work!

    great video Trev. I like the detail and explanation, wish I had the tool selection you have, like the lathe a mill, etc. Looking forward to the next one.

    When I asked what was painted on the manifold side of factory throttle plates, I was told that was some kind of buildup. These are brand new throttle bodies and have what I asked about. Another clue that it was OEM applied? There are clearly brush strokes in it. It's there to create a perfect seal. Excellent point of using thick glass for a surface plate. Molten glass is poured and gravity forms a very flat surface as it cools.

    Great work Trevor! As always, I'm very impressed with your level of skill. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and thank you for not breaking the video into two pieces. Cheers!

    True, nothing is as simple as it seems. Interesting. But drive by wire is always a choice. Anyway, it will be interesting to see this installed on the car.

      G'day Mate, this is just the first stage with these units, Drive by Wire is where i'm heading with it, Polar Engineering has it currently in development. Cheers.

    Nice job cleaning up the top of your upper manifold. I stripped the bottom side of everything but the two freeze plugs and the four bolt on bosses and blended the outer flange to the lower manifolds profile and port matched them of course. No EGR flanges, no water manifolds, not needed, GONE. You can't see what I removed when assembled, but I knew it was there and didn't like it. Just like I removed EGR mount from rear of lower manifold and blended the profile.

    Get out the "Armstrong Milling Machine" Piece of glass will usually do a a flat surface.

    Didn't have the money for Billet Throttle Bodies. I found a pair of OEM bodies on eBay that were over bored for $100. Cut off all traces of the water cooling and removed all casting flashes. Removed that clunky manifold which connects to small hole below the throttle plate which I thought may be a mistake. Looking at these billet bodies which do not have this, I may be all right. Ended up with OEM bodies that look like billet for a lot less.

    Another excellent video Trevor. I appreciate the extra time and the detail of the video. I am curious, is it a worry to have the debris falling into the manifold as you grind and whatnot? I am new to this stuff so I do not know.

      @TheAussieShed  Před 6 měsíci +1

      G'day Mate, yes, the Intake will need to be removed from the engine to perform this process. A thorough clean out is Mandatory after anything like this. Cheers Mate.

    Excellent work Trevor. Have you heard anything from PE about the motorized throttle body actuators they were designing to install DBW?

    • @TheAussieShed
      @TheAussieShed  Před 6 měsíci +1

      G'day Eric, not at this stage, I think I remember something about it being released early this year. Maybe Polar will mention something in the comments. Cheers Mate.

    • @Defiant155
      @Defiant155 Před 6 měsíci +2

      I’ve actually been chatting back and forth with Polar over the DBW system. Right now, he has said he’s focusing on getting the orders that were placed around the holidays finished up so he can turn his attention fully to the DBW finalization and he’s hoping to have the orders done in the next couple weeks. So hopefully that sticks.

    Also why not knife edge the throttle blades for a touch more flow? Great blend work and scraping. Really a lost art in my eyes. Dad was machine tool guy all his life so I picked up some of these skills. But not like your or his.

    • @alwright9443
      @alwright9443 Před 6 měsíci +1

      Rounded edges are better for airflow. Sharp edges create more turbulence. Heat is also an issue with sharp edges as they are more prone to weakening and/or cracking after heat cycles. A few great reasons as to why you would not want to knife edge the blades

  • @slapshot69
    @slapshot69 Před 6 měsíci +1

    Do they not make a large plenum single throttle body for the z? Also why not go drive by wire?

    • @McBoj
      @McBoj Před 6 měsíci +1

      Second the DBW

    • @TheAussieShed
      @TheAussieShed  Před 6 měsíci +2

      G'day Mate, this is just the first stage with these units, Drive by Wire is where i'm heading with it, Polar Engineering has it currently in development. Single throttle body plenums are available, but due the the packaging constraints of the Z32 it means sacrificing Inlet runner length to make it fit. Not an issue for high RPM horsepower, but not great for a Street engine. Cheers.

    40:28 I use bee's wax Trev. Is that bee's wax or regular candle stuff? Bee's wax is a bit pricey I feel! But I agree, it's a game changer. I even use it on my zip cut blades and flap disks when working with Aluminum. Good shit! 👍👍👍👍🦘🦘
