'Each team's worst GM'
Lions fan: You don't have to remind us
When Texans fans talk about Buttchin, they console themselves by saying “…..well, at least he wasn’t Matt Millen”.
Yeah...this and every Lions fan knew the answer before we clicked.
@@theMoersterRuss Thomas
John McKay with one of the all time greatest quotes:

McKay: "I'm in favor of it"
"Well we didn't block well. But we made up for it by not tackling"
@@thepubknight6144 I can only imagine what he was saying to his players when no cameras were around. In a situation like the one he was in, having a sense of humor is a great asset.
@@thepubknight6144 mckay would not be tolerated by modern players . Hed probably be fired in training camp lol. Talking shit about his players in public like that not to mention his brutal offseasons.
"We can't stop a pass or a run... Otherwise, we're in great shape" is a level of snark that I hope to achieve in life.
Ozzie was actually the one who drafted Lamar. 2018 was his last draft and then DeCosta took over in 2019. But either way, it is very hard to say he's a bad GM. But when compared to Ozzie and his success, it makes sense.
Its like with head coaches for us we had 3 and 2 won super bowls so sorry Ted Marchibroda you are the Ravens worst coach in franchise history
Also, considering the Draft for Roquan Smith in 2022 was a steal for the ravens. Also also, trading Hollywood brown to get a first round pick to get Tyler Linderbaum.
Correct. My bad. Ozzie the 🐐
@@xLegendaryPete the trade for Roquan* though rotting in Chicago is the same as not playing football
@@KarlL99Ted actually tied together the Colts and the Ravens, as he'd been a coach for the Colts back in the 70s
9:07 “Deshaun Wayne Gacy” I’m dead 😂
Reggie McKenzie drafted both Amari Cooper and Khalil Mack and it was obviously Gruden's idea to get rid of both of them, before getting rid of McKenzie to bring in sock puppet Mike Mayock who should be considered the worst Raiders GM along with Gruden. Drafting notorious busts like Alex Leatherwood in the first round, along with the Antonio Brown debacle shouldn't make this too hard.
Yeah. Mayock much worse in my opinion.
Agreed, McKenzie actually didn’t do the things claimed in this video and was a good GM, making smart moves before Gruden came and ruined everything.
@@riskyingo McKenzie made mistakes early on as a rookie GM (Dennis Allen) but he rebounded later. The overall experience of a rookie GM and HC back then made Mark Davis course correct with Telesco now.
Tbh, Al Davis as GM circa 2003-2009 was the darkest of times 😢
Agreed, McKenzies 2014 draft was really good and he got Cooper in 2015 and an underrated LT in Kolton Miller in 2018. Mayock on the other hand only had one good draft and even in that draft he wasted the 4th overall pick on Ferrell which was a bad pick even then.
To be fair to Reggie McKenzie, I think trading Khalil Mack was more of a “Mark Davis sank all his money into Jon Gruden, and someone had to pay in blood for it” thing, especially since they were already waist-deep in shit financially, with the impending move to Vegas
None of those things have anything to do with the salary cap
The decision to trade Mack was made by the person who truly was the worst GM in Raiders history and that was Jon Gruden.
Yeah most of the stuff he listed was either "Mark made him do that" or "Gruden wanted to do that". Reggie was slowly digging us out of the hole Al put us in. Dude got scapegoated
@@jcueto75the one who got rid of Mack was Carr. They invested so much in Carr that he could have easily taken a pay cut in order to keep him. Also, Carr himself admitted he liked Mack.
@@guttermouth70 That's just not how it works. Carr went from a 2nd-round rookie deal to a big money qb deal. He had no responsibility to take a cut in pay to keep another player. If the Raiders couldn't figure out a way to have two highly paid players without cap issues, that's on the organization entirely. Blaming Carr for not offering to be paid less is bonkers. Kraft and Brady using TB12 to pay him a ton of money outside of the cap, while saying he was taking pay cuts, has really led to a lot of these takes. Every fan base has these takes, because they're under the impression that Brady was just willing to take less money, because the money was off the team books. That practice has since been disallowed. Pro athletes are going to get paid as much as their agents can get them.
I thought the Reggie McKenzie stuff was unfair in that Gruden was a mandate from Mark Davis, and both the Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper trades were made because Gruden immediately had too much power within the organization.

I also thought the GM was Mike Mayock at the time. I could be wrong though but I thought Gruden and Mayock came in at the same time.
@@biglouie34 mayock wasn't hired until 2019
that's right blaming Reggie is foul he had nothing to with that trade that why he got fired
@@nathaniellevesque2782 thanks for clarifying because I know that Mayock was gone when Gruden was let go too and I could not remember if Mayock was there for Gruden’s whole tenure.
For the Steelers I have to give it to Francis Fogarty any man who pisses away Johnny Unitas and Len Dawson takes the prize for worst.
thats pretty amazing the Ravens have only had 2 GMs in total the whole time. But yeah, EDC in the last two years had made mastermind moves in terms of getting Roquan Smith, Trading Hollywood brown to get a first round pick to draft Tyler Linderbaum. Drafting Kyle Hamilton etc, god we (ravens fans) are spoiled sometimes lol
They were the Browns it doesn't exactly go away if you know football history
@@chrisortiz9343 When the team moved from Cleveland to Baltimore the NFL reached an agreement with the city of Cleveland that the Browns franchise rights will remain there and the Ravens are considered a separate franchise. That’s why Jim Brown is part of Cleveland’s ROH and not the Ravens ROH
15:07 I can see Tree was just overwhelmed with sympathy lol
I was gonna say Bobby Grier for the Patriots. Hiring him directly led to Bill Parcells leaving, and he oversaw more busts than a clueless blackjack player. His only saving grace is he did a lot of scouting work on Tom Brady and convinced the team to draft him.
The Culture is actually really Damm good
Before watching this video, I’m gonna go out on a limb and guess that the Texans’ worst GM was Bill O’Brien.
EDIT: Indeed.
All because (say it with me, kids) "BILL O'BRIEN IS A HACK"
Same just clicked on, im guessing Ditka for the Saints
lol I was excited to watch it and see who it was gonna be for my team. Then went “well duh, who else could it possibly be”.
I'm afraid to tell you that I'll have the obvious meme in me. Why?
Because Bill O'Brien is a hack.
I'd like to forget he was GM, so I'm unofficially changing it to Brian Gaine 🤣
15:07 RIP FivePointsChair #StopChairAbuse 😭
Without even starting the video, Matt Millen. Enough said.
Russ Thomas gives him a run for his money.
Every Dolphins GM since i was born?
Hearing Saints GM Bill Kuharich (KOO-HAR-ICK) reminded me of his brother Lary the Lip in Canada. Lary once coached in Calgary and led their team to a rare home playoff game in 1989. Calgary lost to a .500 Saskatchewan Roughriders team (who was making their second playoff appearance after their Grey Cup appearance in 1976) and immediately after the game, Lary pushed a cheerleader and went on an expletive laden tirade on a post-game radio show. Their father Joe was a head coach for Philadelphia who was featured in an NFL Films presentation where coaches were mic'd up.
We had an astronaut as GM in the early years. The Saints were beyond terrible.
I thought Bill was related to Joe. The older Kuharich was the Iggles coach during the famous '68 season where the fans booed Santa..
i love the carson palmer graphic "CARSON PALMER WANTS TRADED"
I love the Eddie Murphy reference with Jerry Jones
Umfufu wasn't a reference I ever thought I'd hear.
My favorite NFL soundbite is Rich Kotite's "I wasn't fired,....I'm not quitting!".
funny how unlike Jerry, the Steelers guy realized he had no clue what he was doing so he got someone else and they won 4 SBs
Babe, wake up. Five Points uploaded.
Seriously how does Paton still have a job with the Broncos?
Payton traded for and gave a raise and extension to the worst starting quarterback in the NFL. I must agree with you!
6:39 - _"Now Jerry is like a Trevor Bauer fastball... peaking in the mid 90's"_
_...HOLY SHIT BRO,_ that line was _ABSOLUTELY FUCKING HILARIOUS!!!_ I literally couldn't stop🛑 laughing😆😂🤣 after I heard that shit hahaha
Tom Flores is Seattle.. only coached 3 seasons there. So check that 37-59 record, it was more like 14-34 (so really, even worse) he was Player Personnel before taking over coaching duties. Chuck Knox was still coaching thru 1991.. then wisely left. Ownership was a mess back then.
Before George Scifertt went to the Panthers he wasn’t retired he had been fired from the 49ers
Trent Ballkee is the worst GM the 49ers ever had
Longtime Seahawks fan here... Kinda surprised that Tim Ruskell wasn't the choice for worst GM (look up his record if you don't value your eyeballs)
Reggie McKenzie era resulted in one of the best seasons for the Raiders in the last 20 years. (2016). Worst GM in Raiders history was without a doubt Al Davis’s last & final ten years. Two words describe that era: Jamarcus Russell 😩
Somewhere out there Bob Quinn, Martin Mayhew, Chuck Schmidt & especially Russ Thomas all sit and thank the Lord for Matt Millen.
Nothing for Sheldon "I will be grinding" White?
Getting my popcorn for this one
Did I really hear a Umfufu "What have you done for me lately" reference, very nice.
Scot McCloughan definitely had a drinking issue, but he wasn't that bad of a GM for the 49ers. He drafted Alex Smith, Frank Gore, Vernon Davis, Patrick Willis, Joe Staley, Michael Crabtree and several other contributors to the team. He also signed guys like Justin Smith and Ahmad Brooks. He built a really talented roster that just didn't break through until after he was gone. A GM some 49ers fans may find to be worse would be Terry Donahue. Despite being hand-picked by Bill Walsh, Donahue basically oversaw the 49ers downfall from former dynasty to the basement. It wasn't all his fault, as he did walk into a bad cap situation, but he drafted bust after bust and wasn't able to replace all the talent they lost in free agency. He also hired Dennis Erickson, a legendary college coach who just didn't seem to have the right chops for the NFL.
The Khalil Mack and Amari cooper trades were done by gruden bro.
The Vikings worst general manager was Mike Lynn who did the Hershel Walker trade. They ran him out of town after that.
Remembering that Tom Modrak drafted Freddie Mitchell over Reggie Wayne, Chad Johnson and Steve Smith drives me up a wall every single time .
Dan Rooney did draft Mean Joe and Terry Bradshaw, and he had to rebuild a team which his father Art entrusted to a coach who regularly traded draft picks for veterans who turned out to be bums.
I suspect that he and his brother Art, who was given the draft reins by his father, would have done pretty well. They definitely knew how to pick players once they were permitted to.
This was one of my favorite channels before I got disabled so it’s cool that it still is
Thank you for your support Danny. Much love 🫶
@@FivePointsVids of course thank you!
You just had to remind me of O'Brien. His decisions killed any momentum the Texans had, which I can't say about a lot of GMs
Five Points really tortured himself by putting the Kadarius Toney pick clip in...how this didn't kill tree, i'll never know.
Groper Cleveland is hilarious😂
I do feel like Mark Davis was the one who wanted Gruden and once Gruden arrived he was running the show and it was only a matter of time before Reggie was out as GM
Shoutout for the Eddie Murphy reference!
you cant blame the GM for Manziel! It was some homeless guy reportedly...😉 14:41 thats some sweet sweet Tree laughter...
Bill O'Buttchin
Man... that Eddie Murphy Unfufu reference. LOL
haha UNFUFU what have you done for me lately EDDIE..... nice reference man
The Brock Osweiler trade was a good move for the Browns. They paid $16 million for a 2nd round pick when they had a ton of cap space to use up. And had a fresh body to use at QB to use or not use for a QB needy team.
Honestly the Haden move wasn't that bad either; there were too many uncertainties for how much he wanted, and he was good-not-great with the Steelers. I mean, sure, the Browns didn't replace him with anyone close to his talent, but ot wasn't a flat out L.
As a Vikings Fan, I have a couple thoughts...1) Fran Foley should have been the pick as he lied to ownership about his qualifications and was canned after just THREE MONTHS after being hired. 2) While Rob B. wasn't a great gm, he is one of, if not, the best capologist in the entire league that has kept Minnesota's salary cap compliant with his magic for many years. I would give him a lifetime contract if the league allowed it.
You could also argue for Rick Spielman to be the pick, as he had three Head Coaches who each teased potential with brief playoff appearances... only for all three to wash out. And it turned out Rick would often ignore his coaches' advice, reach for players that wound up failing, and put the team in cap hell by hanging on to declining vets.
Agree on both accounts. Rob B is must irreplaceable individual in Vikings front office. Not a better person who manages fiscal cap.
@@mitchtellers2547 I think it does merit some level of respect to keep a GM job for over a decade when most gms can barely last 5 now. When Foley had to lie on his resume to get the job and then canned after just 3 months. Not only is it terrible professionalism but also extremely embarrassing.
February is a dark month 😂 ☠️
You mentioned Bill Polian for the Bills in getting Jim Kelly, he was drafted in 1983 before he took over. Granted, the job Terry Bledsoe did was bad, but the fact he drafted Bruce Smith, Andre Reed and Frank Reich all in the same draft in 1985, he did start building the foundation for the team that would go on to appear 4 consecutive Super Bowls. You're not wrong that he was bad, but you should've mentioned the good he did do at least despite the two 2-14 seasons.
I'd love to see this type of video with other sports too
This guy is hilarious while being accurate and truthful!
With the Raiders, In a much longer time stretch, Al Davis’ last couple decades were absolutely embarrassing - QBs with upside but bright red flags (Jamarcus Russell and also Todd Marinovich), and picking up Larry Brown and Desmond Howard over overblown Super Bowl flashes, and running a revolving door of head coaches.
Great video as always and I was wondering can I still get benchwarmer brew?
Seattle fans know Hugh Millen as the Seahawks radio guy. I actually forget he played in the NFL at any point. But good radio personality.
What have you done for me lately eeedddddiieee. Great reference.
Mark Hatley technically never had the title: "General Manger" with the Bears.
Didnt spend near enough time on the lions, not only did we have Millen but we also had Russ Thomas and Bob Quinn, dooming us to football medocracy for almost 50 years.
Do NHL version of this I'll help you get started for the Toronto Maple leafs
Harold Ballard
Tree already did a LOF video for the Leafs including a lengthy look at Ballard's insanity..
I honestly thought you'd go with Scott Fitterer for the Panthers, but then again he's just a puppet for David Tepper
Pittsburgh Steelers should be Buddy Parker, the guy hated rookies so much he would try and trade all of his picks for veterans, and the picks he couldn’t trade, he ended up trading or cutting the player he drafted. I mean in 1959 he traded away picks 1-7 ffs, and did moves like this his entire tenure
I think Fitterer is also a candidate for worst Panthers owner. Let's see here, traded CMC and DJ Moore, selected a QB without much to help him while watching CJ Stroud shine in Houston, making Bryce look like a bust, also neglecting the contracts of those like Burns. Probably missing more stuff but he was essentially a minion for Tepper.
Chip Kelly was WAY worse than Tom Modrak. In just one offseason, with players that perfectly matched his scheme, he did this:
Traded Shady McCoy for Kiko Alonso, who was hurt all the time.
Signed DeMarco Murray and used him as an agile back like McCoy, instead of the north-south runner that he is.
Signed Byron Maxwell for way too much and put him up against the opposing team's number one wideout, instead of using him as a slot corner where he found success in Seattle.
Swapped Nick Foles for Sam Bradford.
Let Jeremy Maclin and Trent Cole walk in free agency.
And to top it all off, he almost traded a ridiculous hall to the Titans to try and get Mariota. Thank goodness the Titans wouldn't move.
I am still pissed about the shady deal.
I'm a finance guy... This is my favorite time a year
That Toney pick is all time 😂😂😂😂 for us Giants fans and Tree was all of us
I loved Mike Martz as a Ram though 😂
John Gruden was the reason Mack got traded. MacKenzie basically only had the title once Gruden got hired.
That is two time Super Bowl champion Kaderius Toney, don't you forget that.
Kwesi Adofo-Mensah will be on this list when you remake it 10 years from now
Ooo man IRELAND and RANDY NEUTOR for the fins is still talked about
Trent Green played 5 games for the Dolphins, but yea, it's hard to remember his tenure. Mueller also drafted Ted Ginn and John Beck and passed on trading for Drew Brees or drafting Aaron Rodgers. Those last two are the reason he's worse than Jeff Ireland.
If you want someone to sum up the Bengals of the 2000s here ya go. They had more players with reality shows (3) than playoff wins (0). Though to be fair, Dhani Jones had a show that was about traveling and education, which is always a plus.
Ozzie Newsome drafted Lamar in his last season as GM. DeCosta still has a huge role in the selection.
19:17 Legendary...
Wonder how many people got the "Ooomfufu" reference? lol "Eddie Murphy Raw".
I didn’t realize giving a first round draft pick to trade for Favre was “peanuts”
Before getting to the Saints, I think he is either gonna select the GM that was an astronaunt OR is going to be Ditka's GM.
Edit: It was Bill Kuarich. TBF, he was bad. While he did bring in Sammy Knight, Willie Roaf and La-Roi Glover and Joe Johnson... He did trade for Heath Shuler, Ricky Williams trade, sign Andre Royal, let Quinn Early Walk, and much more. But John Meacom hiring Richard F. Gordon as GM was also egregious.
Imagine having the worst trade of all time on your counter.
Imagine not signing good people to play a sport.
Imagine being worse than the guy that traded you for belly button lint.
I forgot that George Seifert was Panthers GM at the same time.
Turns out Marty Hurney wasn’t so bad.
And we had Dave Gettleman for a few years.
Compared to Scott Fitereer all of those guys mentioned were way better GMs than that bum
I mean EDC is following a GM that drafted two first ballot HOF players with their first picks.
DeCosta didn't draft Lamar. He was Ozzie's final first-round draft pick. In that draft, Ozzie picked Lamar, Orlando, Mark Andrew, and Hayden Hurst.
Jerry Jones is a Trevor Bauer fast ball. Pure gold!
I think for the Bucs, it should have been Culverhouse (or whoever was the GM during the Culverhouse minus Rick McKay).
My favorite line: "Less field vision than a naked mole rat." For the Bears, Michael McCaskey was much worse than Mark Hatley, in my opinion.
The Unfufu joke made me subscribe.

Actually, Lou Saban was the worst Broncos GM. He managed the team 1967-1971 going 22-45. He made some questionable moves during his tenures including trading for an aging QB.
To think that Kadarius Toney has 2 Super Bowl rings now.
😢
Gonna guess as a bears fan it’s going to be Phil emery, will update if correct
I was incorrect according to video but Phil emery single handedly set the organization back a decade in only 2 years. It’s next level stupidity.
Shout out to old heads who got the Umfufu joke
I think Bruce Allen could have two spots. A lot of people forgot that Bruce Allen was the GM for the bucs from 2004-2008
As a Browns fan I disagree. Ray Farmer is the worst GM for the Browns. Brown was there for a rebuild. He got us all the picks that John Dorsey turned into the current Browns. Also he did pick Myles Garrett.... Enough said. Ray Farmer could not draft a quality player to say his life. Drafting all first round BUSTS!! Just my opinion!!!
RIP Mort ❤
Scott Shitterer
Scot McCloughan was actually the best recent GM for the 49ers because under him he contributed to drafting HOFers like Frank Gore Vernon Davis, Patrick Willis, etc. McCloughan's sins were alcohol abuse and poor workplace relationships with every franchise he worked with (49ers, Seahawks, Redskins). It should have been Terry Donahue (RIP) who was personally handpicked by the late legend Bill Walsh himself, as GM. Terry Donahue never drafted anyone that was any good and ran HC Steve Mariucci out of town.
For the bears, Phil Emery was definitely worse. He set the franchise back several years and is responsible for firing Lovie/hiring Trestman
