Unrestricted testing - crazy compared to the modern rules!

I’d say the lansvale team screwed together a good car but their drivers had to take it easy as the budget doesn’t allow for crashing it.

I'd say they're shit since Skaife was three seconds faster in THEIR OWN car!!

@@jg2627 I can't call them *Those privateer drivers* shit since its comparing apples to oranges. Because its part time drivers that can't put as much time into improving their own driving ability since they're running the business vs someone like Skaife that didn't have those responsibilities *At the time* so he could solely put all he can into improving his driving ability and testing that made him as good as he was..

There is no way that we could have a second level privateer in Supercars today. The closest we have is Team 18 and Matt Stone Racing. And even then Frosty had pole in Symmons Plains and was running in the podium until one or two laps to go. Todd Hazelwood made it to the top ten shoot out at Townsville and out qualified both Triple Eight Cars.

Fantastic stuff. Would like to see something like this on today's series. Red Bull Racing Australia vs Tony D'alberto Racing would be a great watch!

You know the sport has gone far in 20+ years because the Lansvale team workshop is probably the same as some Super 2 teams and maybe some V8 touring car teams in 2018.

Its a shame that there are no longer any privateers. For me it would b great if the Supercars to bring in a state based "privateers" cup, and with the top five cars from each state to go and race at Bathurst the following year as a mini enduro.

    • @borismcfinnigan3430

There isnt 5 teams period outside the series who could afford to run a Bathurst campaign let alone throw away almost a million for a state based championship

I wish it went back to these days where it was team and thier little tricks to make a good motor and then is was man and machine no abs no traction control none of that crap keep it exciting keep us on the edge of our seats like the old cars did and even better was watching it race on the weekend and then seeing one drive past you during the week as a kid that was unreal today the cars are to controlled and identical and just boring until someone crashes they need to get cars that are sold in the Australian market any car available have motor limits if its a v8 your limits are this or that is a v6 it's this or that straight 6 turbo it this or that v6 twin turbo again its own separate limitations to keep it fair but other then that do what you please and try win ohh and no traction control or stability control none of that shit drivers are drivers prove you can drive a beast with none of that crap and then you can actually call your self a driver
