SUBSCRIBED INSTANTLY! My goodness - REAL PEOPLE!!! Have you any idea how refreshing you both are? No arrogance, no false personalities, no vast reservoir of funds to blow, no cockiness, no overly-slick production, just really lovely people who we viewers would all be delighted to have as friends. If that is what others like, and I believe we all do, then your success here is assured, though it’s always a slow build-up. Clicking ‘Like’ seems to be vital. For what it’s worth, my favourite sailing/ cruising channels are Huub Vlogs, SV Tapatya, Wildling Sailing, Sven Irvynd Sailing, WhiteSpotPirates, Adventures Of An Old Seadog and other channels with really lovely people. That’s a very interesting project you’re doing - one with which so many boaties will identify. Not sure how long your channel has been up but it was only just recommended to me here in the UK, so after work tonight I’m going to have a TGE binge. What a splendid channel name too! My almost favourite film. Thank you for all your not inconsiderable efforts. Dave, Hampshire, UK. PS I’ve messaged the rock guitar cacophonicists (is that a word!?) and asked them not to interrupt your lovely peaceful videos ever again! The nerve of these people!!
Wow. This is the sweetest comment. I had to re read it a few times. Thank you so much for your kind words and support 😊 There is truly no better feeling than being able to share our sailing journey. Our sailboat, experience, projects, and personalities are nowhere near perfect but I'm glad its reaching the right people. We're just giving it our best shot so thank you a ton for tagging along 😊 -Orly
Awesome! Congratulations!! I just recently finished the same project and almost on the same boat ! 1979 Tartan 37 (S/V CACIQUE) no less! I replaced the entire foredeck triangle with thicker balsa (3/4") which created its own issues, starting with needing longer bolts for all deck hardware. I also did it from below deck.... epoxy tastes deadly-don't ask me how I know!😂😂😂 So much Type II fun!😂😂😂😅
First lesson in boat repairs... It's messy... hanging a bed sheet at the V berth door and taping the sheet to enclose the area can stop a lot of dust from going everywhere. Make sure you get ventilation tho... Good work none the less....
To late not but pro tip. When drilling holes in deck oversize them as in for a 1/4 inch hole drill 1/2 then fill with epoxy then redrill to 1/4. This way any water that may get in around the screw will not get to the core. You did a good job. Make sure you NEVER have to do it again.
Looks good, That's next years project for me, although my deck doesn't have any large soft spots. I don't know how far you have gotten, but I thought I would share an idea I am doing with my boat. Rather than following the original none skid like most people I am masking in my boats logo. In my case an Ericson helmet into the deck. Then peeling it out. Giving the deck a unique look, and yet doing something the factory should have done.

Boat yoga is the best…. In any event, it looks like a solid repair.
Our backs are hurting just rewatching the footage
Well done. Seems like a solid, strong repair.
Thanks! Hopefully we'll never have to crawl in there again! Famous last words though...

That's awesome! What hull number are you? I can't imagine doing it all from underneath - good on ya!
Remember check around every hole on the deck hand rails everything.
Definitely! We're working through rebedding every deck fittings over time, checking the core as we go!
Fine job sailor fine job!

Lesson learned from this project for sure!

Unique idea, I like it! I'd love to see how it turns out. What are you planning to use as the non-skid?
