I'm a woman in IT, no one pushed me to go into tech, I was just really interested in computers since a young age. I think the only reason women are so few in tech is merely because most of them are not interested in it.
That's a very simplistic statement but there are some truths to it but it's rooted in childhood and gendered toys. Boys tend to be encouraged to play with toys that naturally lead to a love of computing and engineering while girls are given toys that tend to develop social and soft skills.

You are not allowed to say that. We are making a narration that men prevented them from coming to tech. So we can give jobs to women removing competition from men.
I work in software engineering. The skill level of the average male programmer is abysmal. The few women there tend to be significantly better at it, definitely not worse. It gets their colleagues so mad they spend the day making sexual/sexist jokes to feel better about themselves. Maybe it's a selection effect, idk. Men in high skilled teams tend to be far less hostile. It obvious there is a strong gatekeeping from low skilled men because if they had to compete with women they would loose their jobs.
to be honest programming were supposed to be a side job at that time and women didn't participate much in computers inner processing

I really hate to say it, but when I call tech support and get a woman on the phone, I cringe! The reason is because they are usually not very helpful. They look for any reason to simply create a ticket to escalate you to the next level. Over 50% if the time they don't help me. The men usually are able to solve the problem. There are of course women on tech who are highly competent, but sadly they are a minority. My mom was one of the few that was good in tech.
