- Today we are pouring acrylic paint onto rocks. These painted rocks are beautiful and fun to paint! All we need is some Floetrol, acrylic paint, water and of course Rocks. So come with me and get mesmerized as I pour acrylic paint on some old rocks!
I got into painting in May 2020 as lock down happened. I loved watching acrylic pours my husband had shown me. So I thought why not give it a try and show my daughter how to have some fun. We both just fell in love with acrylic pours and just acrylic painting.

Shannon, you found some wonderfully shaped rocks! I love all of them. And it's so ASMR relaxing to watch the paint move. You made my color-obsessed brain super happy! Hugs ~Cheryl
Thank you so much! I get those rocks when I take Justine for a Scooter walk.
That's my outdoor painting area. I have so much fun painting out there. Justine plays on the swing and I just pour away on rocks. lol 🤪😍
Turning ordinary rocks into magic🤩💞✨️Just Love it, So Beautiful🕊🌼💛

Thank you. I need to do another one of these this year.
That’s mesmerizing to watch the paint flow over the rocks haha. I love the one at 2:36!
I loved that one. You know I wasn't sure if it was going to look good. I just randomly placed colors in a cup. lol It seems If I think to much they don't come out well, but If I just randomly choose colors they are cool looking lol.😂🤣
This so relaxing to watch and they are just beautiful!
Thank you, I love painting rocks.😊😁
So pretty and so entrancing to watch. Reminds me of ribbon candy.
Thank you. I get mesmerized by it every time... lol 🤣
O ok that's so nice of you to do that. I bet the people love them. Have you ever tryed that Stuff called ArtResin? It is nontoxic. If you type in Rachel's rocks Canada, she paints rocks as well and then does the art resin and shows you at the end off the video. I think you would really like the art resin for your rocks they are beautiful I have to try this technique , thank you for sharing. And thank you for answering me back😊
No I haven't yet. I didn't know that was non toxic 😳 that's cool. I will have to check out her channel. Thank you for watching hun.
Hey anytime I'm more than happy to help if I can. 😊🤗
Wow Shannon. I love these! very cool!
Thank you So much! 😁

Inspiring. I have a bunch of rocks from Cape Cod that would be perfect for this. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching. It's so much fun. 🤭
wow! what an amazing idea! I do really want to try pouring on rocks. Omg its so beautiful!
You should! But may I suggest... painting the rock black first. Some of them dried kind on the light side. I may repaint them.👍
@@kokosgoldfish thank you!
I love all of yours !
Thank you, I hate wasting paint lol
Tres tres joli et cela semble tellement facile a faire
Merci beaucoup. Oui, c'est facile à faire.
@@kokosgoldfish merci je vais essayer alors
I think this is amazing! I have quite a few large rocks I think I will give it a try!
Go for it! Try painting the rock black first. It will pop better. I will do a better show of it. 👍

@@kokosgoldfish see my channel. Rock pouring by Lynn. Ive only uploaded a few videos and I would love your feedback!!🥰🥰🥰
@@ArtByLynn7070 I saw some of your videos hun. I haven't used tempura paint on a rock. I used school glue and acrylic paints. The other thing I would suggest, is flatter rocks. It keeps the paint on the rock. If you have your rock up on a cup, you can wipe the bottom of the rock. That will keep the paint from running off the rock. ☺️
@@kokosgoldfish thank you thank you so much. This means everything!!!
@@ArtByLynn7070 Anytime. 😊
Kewl! I subbed! Currently doing Dutch acrylic pour on canvasses, guess what my next medium will be! 🙂Do you leave the underside unpainted?
Awesome hun. School glue rocks I love using school glue for my acrylic pouring.
No I do not paint the back side of my canvases I do paint the backside of my rocks when I do those. 🥰🤗
These all turn out so beautifully! New subbie ❤️
Thank you they are a lot of fun to do. I shall go and check ya out. Thank you again.😊
Since I am new to pour painting, I will look for a video that shows me how to get the paint swirly in the cup to pour
Well the best way to do that is.......take a stick and so some cross marks in it before you pour.🤗
O nice . What to you to with them,
Like how so you display them?
I put a spray varnish on it. Then either one hide them in town or place them in my front yard so others can take one. 😊
Curious about the back side of the rock. Do you sand the back after pouring the front? What does the back end up looking like?
Sometimes the backs are nice and smooth and other times they are rough. If they are rough I will sand the backs of them. I will resin them and you want them smooth on the bottom for that. IMO.
Wow, those turned out really cool! I've been thinking about painting some rocks myself. Are you planning to do anything special with the rocks now that they're painted?
You can go to a garden center and get them for cheep. I got a whole bucket of them for $3 lol... I'm making them for the public school my daughter was going to. I'm homeschooling her now, but I still volunteer for the Parents Club. Then the rest are for just dropping off around town.
What are you using at the end? Is that a fire scortching gun? What does it do? Do you finish them at the end with varnish to give it a shine?
Yes it is, you can find them on amazon or at a Hardware store. It pops all the bubbles in the paint and if your using metallic paint it activates them (making them cell) . After they are all nice a dry I will brush them with a Modge Podge/ water mix. Let that dry and then I will rub them with resin. The resin will keep it sealed for a long time.
Thank you for watching 🤗
Is there a ridge/ring of paint on the bottom that you have to sand down? ❤
Only if you dont wipe down the bottom at the end. If you just let them drip down you will get some ridging going on. ☺
How do you make them so shiny? And what is your mixture?
Hello,
I use Floetrol 2 parts to 1 part paint. After that I do spay them down with either and outdoor sealer or I will resin them. 😁
What does the underside look like? I love them x
The undersides will need to be painted. I normally paint them black on the bottoms. ☺️
@@kokosgoldfish thank you x
@@brendadavies3942 Anytime 😁
cool video here😎👍 Love it I subscribed to your channel 👌💕
Awesome thank you!
Hi, What paints do you use please? Your rocks are really bright. I've tried pouring but they never seem very bright. Thanks
Most of them are Amsterdam and Deco Art.🤗👍
What do the bottoms of the rocks look like? Do you turn them over and paint them?
They can be a little rough on the bottom if you dont get the paint to stop dripping. If you get it to stop then all you have is a small ridge. You can always sand it the back down before you seal them.
They are all lovely. What is the basic paints needed to get the bubble effect. Would love to try, but don't want to have to buy lots of paint if I may have something around that would give me a similar effect. Thanks
A couple of my paints had a drop of Silicone in it. Then when you hit it with a torch or heat gun the bubbles will come up. Also if you use Amsterdam Titanium White or the Oxide Black in a layer it will pull through the colors. One thing I been learning about is the colors that will sink down and leave lacing too.
Do you finish then with anything to make them shiny like that and waterproof?
I sure do. I first put a Modgepod /water coat on them, then I will put a resin coat on them.
J'aimerais connaître les mélanges que vous faites svp merci
I use 70/30 school glue mix.😁
Do you still mix it with pouring medium? or just pure paint?
They had pour medium in them. It's was a fun way of figuring out the consistency.👍🤗
What’s the spray you use? They look beautiful….
Hello, Are you talking about what I use after they are dried? If so I use the Rustoleum Clear and thick coat, but I now resin them. The resin makes them look like glass and also makes the last longer outside.
No, do you use a spray to create the dots in the paint?
Like on the red rocks or was that made from the little heat torch?
@@fredolshove2498 That was made from the combination of the heat torch and the Floetrol. Nothing added to these.
Wow. Ok thank you for your time to reply back. I will try it out.
do they not need varnish plasticote .
They need a modge podge water mix,. Then to seal it a resin coating. The resin let's them be outside.👍
What kind of painting do we need?
Acrylic paints. You can find them at any hobby store. :)
This is do cool, I have tons of rocks where I have just drawn on them, and painted, but not this. Will be trying for sure. Just did a basic pour tutorial on my channel. I normally make journals, that is my thing, but love mixed media, heck tons of crafts. Anyway was looking at channels with paint pours, and came across yours! Very inspiring ! New subbie here, and would love to be crafty CZcams friends! Tfs, come check out my channel.
Man I miss your comment, sorry. You should try it. It's so much fun in the summer. Plus I clear coat them and give them to ppl. 🤗☺️
