Yes. Only digs with the BX for me are that it only has hydropneumatic on the rear wheels. And of course it would be cooler if it was air-cooled, which the GS is, which also has all wheel suspension, but you can't get those in diesel.

@@bangerbangerbro where did you get that idea from? the BX has hydropneumatic suspension on all wheels. AFAICT, the only Citroen that had read-only were selected late-model Traction Avant, which came equipped with hydropneumatic in the rear only, ahead of the introduction of the DS/ID.

That brought back pleasant memories on my time with BX’s, first was a 1.9 TRD the second a 1.7 turbo intercooler sport. Beautiful drives and so comfortable, too. Both were ultra economical and had many trans Europe trips from southern Italy to London and back.

Das waren noch Zeiten... so einen BX hatten wir früher mal, Bj. ´88, elektrisches Schiebedach und elektrische Fensterheber vorne und hinten, 109 PS, Türanzeige für jede einzelne Tür, hydropneumatisches Fahrwerk und sogar, was damals ganz was besonderes war, eine Fernbedienung für die Türen.

On peut dire que ce furent les années d'or de Citroën, quand ils fabriquèrent des modèles uniques, originaux et pleins de charisme, puis Citroën commença à produire des voitures comme tant d'autres, perdit ce charme, cette beauté et l'originalité qui la caractérisaient. De nos jours j'apprécie juste la Citroën C6, je pense que c'est la seule qui a encore ce charme d'antan.

Aaaah i miss that sound.... This was my old car, and I still miss this car every day. It's fun to drive, economical and the turbo makes a great sound. The windscreen wiper is on the other side so at high speed rain will not blow across the drivers side of the windscreen as easy, so you have to use the wiper a lot less. The wiper is in view the whole time however, but you get used to it...

I really do miss seeing these on the roads now, I spoke to a bloke who had the very, very last one left in sunderland while a go. His was the 1.6
e car sounds like my 300d before I changed the injectors, made a world of difference to its performance and fuel economy.

Yes, the bx is provided of a pneumatic suspension, there are at the top of each wheel a sort of 'gas reservoir' so when you stop the car she will go down and when you start it, it will go up, you can actually regulate the height of the car with a handle in the cockpit. And it's a very comfortable suspension I have to say!

Citroen is the most comfortable cars ever made. With adjustable hydropneumatic suspension, none compares in comfort. And fuel economy and long engine life as well. It is worth no BX there.

it's not pneumatic, it's hydropneumatic. only those resevoirs are filled with gas, most of the system runs on hydraulics. thats why these cars have this phenomenal soft ride!

The central lock that was heard around the world
the only thing I could fault about a bx is its suspension. dont get me wrong the ride is very comfy it feels like your floating on air. its just that if the suspension goes wrong its costly to put right. i suppose if you maintain the suspension eg topping up on hydraulic fluid etc it should be reliable.

It can, but it's not very nice. When there is no pressure on the suspension there is zero dampening and bot the car and occupants get a bit of a beating. On models with powersteering you'll have none of that till the system has some pressure

@BXTZDTurb I don't know why it's on the left side, haven't looked at it yet ( Bought this bx just a month ago) im currently working on my 1.6 TZI. Btw no airco and ABS on the diesel. Bosch injection (correct me if I'm wrong, this is my first diesel, model year 1993)

love the odd french styling, love the comfy suspension, love everything about it except.. that loud, clunky, rattly diesel WHYYY would anyone choose that over petrol is beyond me.
Real world 50 mpg. Startling amounts of torque. And it shouldn't be making that much noise. The turbo-diesel was really the pick of the BXs.
